The people working there were rude kids who probably will live in mommies basement till there 40's the sign on the door says they had a broken pipe but will reopen in February. Well it's almost April. After going to Dons for 40 plus years it was like watching someone getting old and eventually kicking the bucket. You remember them in there prime in life then they end up in a nursing home laying there pooping themselves in a diaper helpless. That's Dons so great in the 70 s and 80s then went down hill. I recently discovered a new favorite sandwich on the menu - the Donny Pastrami. It's a hot sandwich with pastrami, Swiss, slaw and 1000 island on a hoagie roll. So good! I am still loving their potato salad, and their pasta salad is really very good too - always fresh with lots of bell peppers and tomatoes and chunks of ham and provolone and not soaked in dressing like some places do. Not too fond of the macaroni salad though which is a bummer. It is just way too sugary for my taste. But otherwise, I love Don's. It's my favorite deli in the area. read more

I LOVE DON'S DELI! This place has been around since the late '50s, and it's a local favorite for those who are in the mood for hoagies! The menu offers various hoagies (Italian, Ham & Cheese, Jewish Corned Beef on Rye, etc.), Deep Fried Goodies (french fries, hot pepper pockets with cheddar cheese, etc.), fried chicken, grilled items (such as Mushroom Cheese Steak, B.L.T., etc.), and even take-out dinners (Filet of Flounder, MD Style Crab Cakes, etc.). I had their Cheese Steak (the steak was seasoned well, had good melty cheese, and great with the mayo), the Chicken Cheese Steak (I'm usually a steak & cheese/cheesesteak person, so I was surprised that I enjoyed this one more! Having it with the hot peppers made it even more delicious!), and the Turkey hoagie (such a simple sandwich, but it's the combination of the thin turkey slices, the mayo, and the hot peppers - so yummy!). Ordered two roast beef specials. When I ordered I was told the price would be 49.99 each. Husband picked up order and was charged 59.99. Was told prices went up and they "don't quote prices". Placed an order for 4 steaks, chicken fingers, 2 orders of fries and an order of onion rings.. Was told it would be 45 minutes. Almost 25 minutes later they call back and say they can't make the order unless I pay over the phone! My wife tells them we want to pay cash and are not reading our credit card number over the phone. The women on the phone asked if we wanted them to hold the order until I got there to pay. No thanks, we canceled and told them we would go somewhere else. After reading the reviews on here about people waiting twice as long for sandwiches, it sounds like they hold off making your order until you get there to pay. Our friend showed up last night with a bag of cheesesteak fixings from Don's. We cooked up the steak put some of the very generous amount of cheese on it and settled at the table as a family. What a great meal! The potato salad was almost as good as mine. The rolls were soft and plentiful and the steak was melt in your mouth cheesy beefy goodness. Great cheesesteaks BUT here's the deal: When you call in and order they tell you 20 minutes, when it takes nearly 40 minutes. Since people hang up when they hear 40 minutes for one cheesesteak, they say 20 minutes. This is why you always see pissed off people waiting for their food. This is a horrible business practice. On top of that, when asking why it took so long, he responded; "sometimes a large order comes in right after yours." Which doesn't make sense at all because they should cook the food in order. This last cheesesteak I got had hardly any meat and the bread was soggy. When it's all women behind the grill the food sucks and so does the service. Don't order when it's busy because they will lie to you about the wait time, and then cook a shitty steak. This place has gone downhill big time in the past few years. read more

Yesterday I went to our favorite place for steaks and hoagies, Don's of course. I've been going here for a while now and cannot understand some of the negative reviews. We have an older menu hanging up on our refrigerator, understand everyone's prices I have one out from over a year ago. Someone commented about the price of a roast beef hoagie. Again the menu I'm looking at is well over a year ago and a 6 foot party hoagie is listed at $72. So we're at some of these people are getting their cost I do not understand and I don't want to speak for them. But I'd also like to say the reason I go to Don's is when we were in the mood for a really awesome hoagie or awesome steak sandwich we go to Don's we know we're going to pay a few dollars more for the sandwich but we understand we're going to get more for our money. And this is the reason we drive a little further out of our way to go to Don's. If we want a regular sandwich nothing out of the ordinary we may even choose Wawa their staff is also friendly and the sandwiches are good in fact,I love their tuna hoagies. But remember one thing when buying sandwiches anywhere you get what you pay for. Last week I went there for steak sandwiches for my wife and myself. For us their steaks are incredibly awesome. In fact we can only eat half of the steak because some thing you don't see many sandwich places they really pack your sandwich with meat. FYI if you call in your sandwich add another five minutes or so because a lot of times they are really busy. But when I go in I head straight over to the refrigerator's and pick up macaroni salad and potato salad they are out of this world. This place used to be an awesome place for sandwiches. Since new owners opened back up, we tried them. Called ahead, got there on twenty minutes as told. Waited 30 more minutes for my cheese steaks, got home. Sandwiches were a mess and no cheese. Everyone was trashing them on Facebook, but I wanted to be fair and give them a second chance. Today we called ahead, went to pick up and got two pounds of cheese. Have you ever waited for someone to slice cheese one slice at a time and weigh, one slice weigh, one slice.....Got home no chicken fingers. Go back, pick up, no honey mustard. What ever happened to customer service? I arrive there today at 11:20 there are two young men making sandwiches and an older woman tallying up receipts. I was the only customer in the place. I walked in and when the woman finally realized I was there she stated I'll be right with you I responded thank you. I waited I waited and I waited. Yes Don's has the best cheesesteaks BUT they dealt their loyal customers a raw deal on Super Bowl Sunday. I called the day before to place my cheesesteak order. My husband arrived at the store to find a store filled with customers waiting for their sandwiches. They hadn't started to make our sandwiches. Game time was in 90 minutes! After him was someone that was there to pick up a sandwich tray. That wasn't started either. Then Don's ran out of large rolls and they continued to take orders over the phone! WTH.
