Salesman this time upsold me new construction windows and I was leaving in a few days for a month so I wanted ot get them ordered. I painted them prior to installation. The installation was horrific - tiny cracks in the plaster now large requiring patching, pieces of plaster ripped off the wall requiring patching and painting entire walls. But the worst was the excessive and beyond shoddy caulking. I've never seen caulking so poorly done. Matera Bldrs.had completely redone my kitchen 9 years ago and the work, including caulking was excellent. This was appaling. I sent photos to Bob and he tried to defend work he knew was indefensible. He sent someone to try to fix some of the caulk but it was no better and I sent photos to Bob again. My woodwork is a different color then the walls and now there were no right angles, making painting sloppy. Bob and workers acknowledge that I am a good painter but this was impossble. Bob did discount the work some and did eventually apologize but that didn't help what was fairly pristine before the installation. They treated my $13,000 investment casually and carelessly. It's clear they can't get or keep skilled workers. First photo is windows before installation. Have many more after

I hired Michael, doing business as Jersey Shore Handy Heroes LLC, for painting, carpet removal,…read morevinyl plank flooring, light fixtures, interior doors, a kitchen fan, and a small shelf installation. We signed a contract on September 16, 2025, paid $10,000 to begin the project, and were told the work would take approximately 7-10 days. In my experience, the project was not completed within that timeframe. After several months, major items remained unfinished, including flooring, doors, closet hardware, and other agreed-upon work. Some painting was incomplete or, in my opinion, poorly finished, and materials and equipment were left behind at the property. We ultimately had to complete or hire others to complete much of the remaining work ourselves, including carpet removal, flooring, electrical work, painting, and door installation. I also incurred additional inconvenience and expense related to storing our belongings while the project remained unfinished. Based on my experience, I would not hire this company again.

Our bathroom looks like it's out of a decorating magazine!…read more We had been looking for a contractor for about two years to remodel our poorly functioning bathroom at our shore property when a friend recommended Josh at Heron Builders. He built my friend's 4000 square foot home from the ground up---and it is beautiful. Josh was super responsive and very professional, providing us with a detailed contract that included the full scope of the work so that there would be no surprises, The time for completion of the project was a little longer than we had expected but since we don't live there through the winter months (when the work was being done) it impacted our use of the property only minimally. The bathroom he remodeled was a total gut job. We had a ridiculously large soaking tub, only one sink and a small shower. He removed the tub, installed a 92" custom vanity (done by Euroline Designe), a larger frameless shower, a custom framed mirror, new recessed lights and all new flooring. We are so pleased with how it functions now, and absolutely love the way it looks. He's a good guy with a lot of integrity who takes pride in his work...something you don't see too often nowadays.

We recently completed a project with Murphy's Fence (Back Fence, Outdoor Shower, Front Door…read moreRailing, and Existing Gate Repair) and I'd like to share our experience. Short Story: If you're considering any work like this, RUN, don't WALK and contact Murphy's right away with confidence that you will end up with a quality product combined with excellent workmanship Longer Story: Murphy's is facing the same challenges as many other businesses, demand can be unpredictably high and resources can be unpredictably thin at times (and don't even get me started on the impact of Mother Nature). Projects can be challenging and ours had a couple of bumps in the road, but here's what made the project work. Phil was our "boots on the ground" liaison providing the key contact (text, phone and face-to-face when needed) to communicate our specs and needs and shepherd it through the Murphy process. When it came to back-office support, Jennifer was the friendly, empathetic and capable soul that was there for us when needed it. Credit to Ryan as he leads Phil, Jennifer and the entire Murphy's team herding the cats to get the job done, and that what has earned this positive rating - and with a career in customer care, good ratings don't come easy from me - I'm not an easy A.
