Each dish had a nice balance of flavor and protein/beg/carb. Not easy to do the breadth of cuisines they do here (that we tried) well. After school snack is a peanut butter cookie for the road. Service was friendly and proactive. We are happy to have stopped here and they are deserving of their rating.

You order at the counter, pay and get your numbered wooden spoons which you place in a glass milk carton at the table you choose while awaiting your food. There is plenty of brick inside the restaurant which is always something I like. The woman who took or order said that the owner had bought the place behind them and they were blowing out the wall in between the two establishments so the kitchen can service two places. Sounds good right? The problem we had was that the breakfasts we got were not hot, I mean barely warm. My sunny up eggs were barely done, still alot of clear in the whites. My two halves of toast were put together, butter to butter. The second pieces together for my entire meal I was going to put marmalade on after I had finished all but them. The butter had not even melted into the toast, it was still whole butter. Everything tasted quite good, but it has to be hot. We would certainly return, but it fell just short of the mark. Too bad!

Here's what I ordered: 1. Blackened Cajun chicken with mixed greens and mashed potato: the chicken breasts were very juicy and the Cajun spice was on point! I thought the spice was a bit too salty and spicy for me so I was very glad I got the mashed potato to balance out the strong flavour. 2. Quesadilla with chicken: This was probably my fifth time ordering and I still enjoy it every single time! The tortillas had just the right amount of crispness and the pineapple chunks added a nice amount of sweetness.

The building itself is for sale, not sure if that matters or not. The entry is old school, but the interior is very plain and the ceilings are low, so it's noisy. Our server was very quick to get us menus, our requested water arrived quickly as did our beers. No complaints at all with how we were treated. We both ordered the small Borschts, the lovely K with white bread and I the rye. The soup was good, not great, the bread was very good. The presentation of the soup was very average with soup up the side of the bowl. Kind of looked like they had too much in my bowl and poured some in K's. There was a little too much sauerkraut in the Reuben, but the whole grain bread was delicious. The Dinosaur Stone Fruit Sour Brew was phenomenal! It was 100% deserving of the name. Finally, the service here was passable. Our server did her job and had a good attitude, but got a few orders mixed up, didn't check up during the meal, and brought only a single check when we had planned to split.
