We first met Liz and Brian Henn, principals at LBAC travel, in early August 2023. We spoke with…read morethem about our interest in traveling in retirement and scheduled a meeting with them to discuss our interests. Initially we mentioned a trip to England and Ireland with LBAC, but prior to our scheduled meeting we shared with Brian and Liz that due to some ongoing medical issues that we were going to push that trip off until 2024. We shared that we still wanted to schedule a vacation but had decided on a low impact beach vacation to the Caribbean. We had our planning meeting with Liz and Brian in late August 2023 and discussed our interest in both the Caribbean and Europe vacations. After discussing options with them we decided to book our Caribbean vacation at Scrub Island Resort in the British Virgin Islands. We also shared with them our interests in our England and Ireland trip for Spring 2024. They promised to put together recommendations for both trips and would get us some feedback "in a few days". Brian did book our flight to Tortola (BVI) during our meeting. He was able to assign our seats on Jet Blue but said he needed "a day or two" to get our seat assignments on our connecting flights with Silver Airlines. He said the same about finalizing our reservation with Scrub Island Resort. After a nearly 3 week wait for a response, I reached out to LBAC asking for confirmation of our reservation at Scrub Island and verification of our seat assignments on Silver Airlines. I also asked for the list of excursions and dining recommendations for our Caribbean vacation. I sent multiple inquiries with no response. In late September Brian responded acknowledging that he had received my prior messages and apologized for the delay in responding stating that they should have been in contact with us sooner and promising to get the requested information to us in a day or so. However, communication did not improve. He did send a confirmation of our reservation at Scrub Island but still no verification of our seat assignments on Silver Airlines or any of the promised recommendations for excursions / dining. Getting frustrated, I reached out to Scrub Island directly with the same questions we asked LBAC about excursion and dining options. Less than a day later we received a detailed and thorough response from the concierge staff. They responded equally as quickly to our follow up questions. Several days after hearing from the concierge team, LBAC finally responded with a forwarded email from the same concierge team with virtually the same response they had already provided us. What that tells me is that LBAC didn't initiate a conversation with the concierge or anyone else in a timely fashion - even though they had repeatedly promised to provide us with recommendations. In addition, the sole dining recommendation they included was for a traditional Italian restaurant in Tortola.. Less than a week prior to our departure, I again reached out to LBAC as I still had no confirmation that they had purchased the Travel Insurance plan that were initially recommended to us when we booked our trip. LBAC did follow up with the confirmation for a plan purchased the day I contacted him. Had I not done so, we might never had received the requested insurance coverage. LBAC Travel's mission statement reads: "Our specialty is pampering you with exceptional customer service from the initial consultation all the way through until you return from your dream vacation. I realize this review is long. I hope it conveys how frustrating and disappointing our experience with LBAC was in their communication and follow through to us. What is perhaps most frustrating is that they earned commission on our vacation to Scrub Island while we had to continually chase them down to take care of the most basic details of our vacation. It's unfortunate for them that the service they provided did not match the promise in their mission statement as we do plan to travel extensively in retirement but will not utilize LBAC again for our future travel plans.
