This was my…read morefirst time here, I came because I saw the great reviews on Yelp and I was looking for an honest mechanic due to being scammed a few times with this car already. My check engine light was on and I knew of a previous oil leak that I was told wasn't major but I should get it looked at. The check engine light was an easy tune-up and the leak turned out to be major coming from the valve cover... all good and done. We also replaced all 4 tires with alignment. When they went to call me in to pickup, the mechanic found that there was a separate oil leak from a different area and it would be a simple fix replacing a small hose. Turns out the hose has a manufacturing defect and wouldn't fit correctly, they had to keep my car an extra 4 days and try 3 different hoses in total to get this leak to stop. This was such a blow because I use my car for work. Nobody had the part and the ones that did offered the defective one. The part was in back order with the dealership. This was a tricky spot, I believe Sam's found an aftermarket hose that did the job...but it took a lot of effort, putting on 3 different hoses and running around calling everyone in town. They could've easily given my car back in the beginning saying "not our problem" or ignored it, or when they ran into all that trouble and the issue looked "unfixable" they could've just told me to pick the car up and tell me they can't help me. But they were the ones to keep trying everything, without my prompting, and ultimately they fixed the car. They didn't even charge me extra, in fact they worked all this into what I was already getting done. I ended up paying close to my original quote maybe even less. All in all, I'm happy that this happened at Sam's, they handled it like pros, they were honest and fair and transparent the whole way. Larry at the front was my contact the whole time and that guy is a legend, he really cares about people and it shows. He really felt bad that this made me lose out on 4 days of work, I could tell it bothered him. What more could you ask for a business that cares about you. My car is running great, all symptoms and problems seem to be resolved! I would most definitely come back, they have me as a loyal customer, I would recommend anybody I knew to them.

It's a fact that wet tires get sticky and attract screws. Kind of a bummer because I got the car brand new. It's a 2023 Hyundai Elantra SEL with the convenience package. I went to this tire location and was immediately greeted by a friendly and smiling gentleman named Percy. I explained my concern, and he took my information and got my car right in for service! I'm hoping they can patch the tire from the inside, as tires are not meant to be plugged for safety reasons! They did a great job, and I highly recommend this location in Oakland Park!

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Mavis Tires & Brakes…read more I first brought my 2018 Toyota Tundra in for a routine oil change. After collecting the vehicle and starting it in the parking lot, it was immediately obvious that something was seriously wrong. The engine sounded as though it had no oil. Upon investigation, I discovered that the oil had been drained but never refilled. I still have written documentation from the employee at the front desk acknowledging what happened. What I cannot understand is how the vehicle was started, moved out of the workshop, and parked without anyone realizing there was no oil in the engine. This type of mistake could have caused catastrophic engine damage and raises serious concerns about the quality control procedures at this location. Despite this experience, I decided to give the shop a second chance. I later returned for a wheel rotation and balancing service. During that visit, I received a call advising that my serpentine belt needed immediate replacement because it was worn. After collecting the truck, I noticed that one of my center wheel caps was missing. I returned to the shop right away, but it could not be located. I later inspected the serpentine belt myself and found absolutely nothing wrong with it. The belt showed no signs of unusual wear and did not require replacement. This left me questioning whether the recommendation was genuine or simply an attempt to sell unnecessary repairs. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I have experienced issues with this location. Between nearly destroying an engine by failing to refill oil, losing parts from my vehicle, and recommending repairs that were not needed, I have completely lost confidence in the workmanship and integrity of this shop. I cannot recommend this location and would advise others to carefully inspect their vehicles after any service performed here.
