Purchased the item in the photo on July 24th, opened the cardboard package immediately prior to cooking them on July 25th to find the item as shown in the photo. Emailed Donald's customer service that same evening and as of August 1st have yet to get any response from Donald's. Be warned that Donald's sells products well beyond their best before date, check your packages carefully when shopping at Donald's.

This is probably one of the reasons when you are going along Hastings going Eastbound (driving) where there is considerable traffic, and this is probably one of the reasons! This place can be busy at any point of the day and for good reason, you may find a deal, if not that you are shopping for fresh produce to take home, one way or another, you'll find something here that you may want to take home. At the same time it is a weird store, as it feels like it's mashed up from 3 totally different stores at one time. The front is loaded up with fresh fruits and vegetables and certain sales, on the day we were there they showed two seperate strawberry sales, $2 for 2 small bins, while for the bigger organic bins which were more than double the size were $5, decisions, decisions. So we decided to walk in to see what else was in store, this place really has it all, from the far left side where there is a cooked 'take-out' section for Chinese food that I would usually see in the back of T&T, they have isles upon isles of dried and canned stuff, in the back, as usual, milk, and and isle for yogurt's and cheeses. I find the produce is clearly labelled, from organic to non-organic, the prices are very fair here, to sometimes cheap, they have deals on some over ripe stuff at times. I find they carry some very good bread, from a Bread Affair, to Terra Breads to Calabria, and from this I can tell you they carry good name brand goods of other products as well. Just know that at anytime, this place can be a zoo, you have been warned, as it feels like the whole neighbourhood comes out at certain 'prime-times' to shop, but if your wanting to stay away from the big box supermarket's, and still wanting to save some money but wanting some good groceries, you won't go wrong coming here.

Argh!!! I love this Donald's !! I find almost everything I need there. Plenty of gluten free items, lots of meals, snacks and treats. You just never feel like you're getting ripped off. Local produce, organics and just an overall great variety. Heck, there's even a loose leaf Tea shop in the front! http://www.donaldsmarket.com/tea.htm and a Chinese food take out counter, (which I cannot eat any of, boo-hoo for me.) Cons: It's a bit tight, so take your tolerance vitamin. Also, do NOT shop on Sunday late in the afternoon because just about everyone waits until the weekend is over to pick up what they need for the week. *Bonus* one of the managers is also gluten intolerant so you can be sure to find plenty of G-free merch.

Donald's Market has a fantastic produce selection!

For years and years and years, I would transit or drive past this store dismissing it as "just another Asian produce store." I finally went under my naturopath's recommendation as the store carried an assortment of gluten-free goodies. I went and, to my delight, I was impressed in so many ways! First, they have killer produce specials. My favorite is the cauliflower heads going for $3 if you buy two heads (one would cost $1.69); I bought only one because two would be too many but two would be ideal for a larger family. I also bought a bag of Japanese cucumbers (there had to be at least 14 in there) for $2.49. Second, the gluten-free vegan soups (Pacific Natural Foods brand) go for $3.49 at regular price, $2.99 on sale; about the same price as Whole Foods but without the longer commute. On the same gluten-free note, they are finally carrying Glutenall brands of bread, including my favorite Buckwheat loaf! Third, frequent flyer sales. Daiya cheese (vegan) would go for $4.99 at Superstore. On sale at Donald's, I got to try it for $3.49. In the store, they have a Chinese food takeout counter. Not for me, but if you are into that sort of thing go for it. I love the fact they have an in-store tea bar as well. I haven't patronized the tea bar yet but I will eventually.

Several locations in the lower mainland and each is very uniquely different. This location is very busy and I think the largest of the three. Great selection of produce and unique products you normally wouldn't find in a market this size, like Stevia soda. I'm a fan and if in the area I make sure to stop in.

Great prices on local produce

Very good place to get locally grown fruit and vegetables at really good prices. Like going to farmers markets without going to the farms. I love how it is set up so unliked the big box grocery stores. It is more like the Asian markets locally and like the vendors from my days living in Europe. Always stop here as part of several stops along E. Hastings to buy ingredients to complete our meals. I buy my western ingredients here. Chinese stores don't stock sweet basil or flat leaf parsley. Great location with easy access to free parking. Prices are not always cheapest nor veggies the best. But, that's the fun and joy of SHOPPING for fresh grocery.

I had heard about Donald's for awhile. Apparently one of the cashiers is kinda famous for remembering the names of all her customers - over 4,000 of them and counting. I don't know if I was in her lineup; they say hers is always the longest, and mine wasn't too bad. Donald's is much bigger than your average corner grocery. The produce section is wonderful, with local product clearly identified. They also have good bakery and meat aisles, and all the necessities you might need at the last minute. Given the neighbourhood, I wasn't surprised to see quite a few organic and specialty foods in the mix. And it wasn't all that expensive either, given good prices on produce and several in-store specials. This is the kind of neighbourhood market that whispers to me, "If you lived here, you could shop here all the time!"

Bonus star for accepting Amex, who would've thought in the hood... Just picked up the best cookies in Vancou ver across the street at Platform 7. And what better way to balance this out with juicy Driscoll raspberries for $4.95. DM is wider than it looks, and fresh all around. The meat is on the left, and coffee beans in aisle 13, last one far right, go figure. Even 49th Parallel is here, as well as 20 other brands: by far best selection for a neighbourhood. Good service with a real, abundant staff.

I used to buy chines food from take out counter. Now prices have gone up a lot. Food is often very greasy and over cooked.

In Illinois, we used to have many IGA's in smaller towns, especially in the more rural parts of the state. They were always reliable little grocery stores with a good selection of your basic needs and many were put out of business by Walmart. Imagine my surprise to find this gem in a bustling Canadian city! There was a really nice selection of produce, as well as anything else you could need from the grocery store. The deli counter had a great selection and the person there was really charming and helpful and giving some recommendations on salads I have not heard of before. The store seemed very clean and efficiently organized for maximizing what can be offered in an urban grocery store. Plus, as an American, it was m fun to walk around the aisles and see what's the same or different.

When I first moved to Vancouver in 2017, I came to this store a few times when I was shopping nearby at Canada Tire, and this store was my occasional go-to for individual items. I never did the bulk of my grocery shopping here. That said, I found this store to be pretty decent for the occasional bag of sugar or carton of milk (see my review, below, from 2017). But every time I've been here since, I've had a negative experience. EVERY TIME. So much so that I purposefully go out of my way NOT to shop here. Ever. This is my least favorite grocery store in the city. I've encountered rude cashiers here, mis-priced items, minimal store staff to help me find something when I needed it, consistently overpriced items, and yes, the paid parking is the proverbial straw on the camel's back. Yesterday I was reminded of all the reasons I dislike this store. I was going to a dr's appointment nearby and wanted to buy some flowers for my dr (she just returned from a protracted maternity leave). It was early (8:40 am). There was no staff in the small floral department. I browsed all the bouquets and potted flowers and plants and chose a mid-range ceramic pot with healthy, colorful flowers in it. (They have some really cute ceramic planters and very healthy flowering plants here. Nice!). I wanted to put a little card in the pot that says "Welcome Back!" (you know, those free small rectangular cards you get at ANY floral dept in ANY grocery store or florist, with the plastic stick, stuck in the soil of the planter?). Since no-one was manning the floral counter, I took my potted flowers and reached over to get one of the small cards, and I was looking for a stick. Immediately a male employee was at my back, saying I can't get that! I showed him the potted flowers I was purchasing and said, oh, I am buying this pot, I just need one card and stick to put in the soil, it's a gift. (Weird how the employee was immediately there when I was getting this, but when you need an employee for assistance here, they're never around). The guy says that the cards are only for bouquets of flowers, NOT the potted flowers. (This makes no sense whatsoever. The potted plants range in price from $5-$30+ for the potted orchards. Many bouquets cost less than this. Yet they only give the little cards out for bouquets? Really? When the potted plants cost the same or more than bouquets? What?). The guy added, if I wanted a gift card for my potted flowers, it'd cost 50 cents. Like, WTH, these little cards are free at EVERY floral dept I've been to in my entire life! And to add insult to injury, when I said okay, I'll buy one, they didn't even have any of the sticks to place the cards in the pot! Like, what's the use of a card if you can't place it in the pot???? Oh, but my story doesn't end there. I brought my potted flowers to the cashier since the self check-out wasn't working for me. The girl at the cash rang up my flowers at nearly double what they cost (they were on sale. There were tons of sale signs posted prominently in the floral dept). I called her out on it and she scrolled through her phone at the store circular to find out, indeed, yes, these were on sale and the price that was rung up on the cash was very off. Took a while for her to find this error and then re-ring me up at the correct price. For a 5-minute side trip to this store to get a little gift for my doctor, from beginning to end, it was such a negative experience. All I can say is, if you do shop here, know what you need as it's usually next to impossible to find people to help you, know that most employees here are not friendly, know that the prices of items are usually higher than comparable stores, know that the floral department is a total joke, and definitely watch each and every price when they ring you up. (This was not the first time I encountered a big discrepancy in their advertised price vs. what they charge you for items at the cash).

The store's layout is clean and well-organized, with clearly marked aisles that make navigating through the shelves a breeze. I think Joti's No Frills focuses on what truly matters - providing a wide selection of pantry staples, household essentials as well as international items at budget-friendly prices. I occasionally also get their no-name brand products because it helps me save significantly on my grocery bills. Their produce section is not as extensive as some of the other grocery stores but again, it is budget friendly. I would say that if you are looking to buy produce from here, I would recommend going during the day time because most of their fresh produce are gone by evening. One area where Joti's No Frills could improve is the variety of specialty and organic products. While the store does carry some, expanding this selection in my opinion could attract a broader range of customers. I also really like their reusable shopping bags because of their size and sturdiness. The staff are friendly and always quick to help at the checkout counter. Another big thing for me is that they don't take American Express or Mastercard which reduces my incentive to go there often. Having said that, if you're looking for a no-nonsense grocery shopping experience that won't break the bank, Joti's No Frills is certainly worth a visit.
