This is the second time in 3 years we have visited here and the bottom line is if you go here learn how to negotiate period. Almost everything in Mexico you negotiate. As far as the airlines go read the rules on airlines and what's allowed to be brought back to your state. I will admit the first time we went there we definitely got hustled but to us it still was worth it in a sense because we could find this stuff anywhere else. This time we negotiated and probably still overpaid a little but again we found something new we liked, got a couple of old favorites as well. I purchase 4 250 ml bottles of tequila... I was told it would cost $285 plus tax but that I could claim the tax (30 percent) at the airport which is not true because I did not get a receipt only the CC confirmation. Originally they charged me 7000 pesos which is more that $400 dollars and when confronted they canceled the first transaction and charged me in US dollars... $370. I am disputing this charge as the seller straight up lied. I had to get my carry on bag checked in and pay an extra fee because the bottles exceeded the size. I took a Cancun Adventures catamaran trip to Isla Mujeres. We were encouraged to do the free tequila tasting and get a discount for being on their tour. I was told that if I bought 2 bottles I'd get one free. When I tried to pay with a credit card my bank declined the transaction and sent me a text asking if I authorized the $520.46 charge-um, no! When I confronted the man about it he said that his "sister" made a mistake when ringing up the sale and it was only supposed to be $100 PER bottle and could he ring me up for that price. It was definitely not high end tequila, but a scam. read more

If I can give a zero star, I will. But I don't know how useful the review is and if this will help people in the future to avoid the scam. We took a tour to the place and the tour guide told us that we would have a discount (because we were on the tour) to purchase tequila. I was told that the total cost would be around $130. The gave us a receipt totaled in Peso (I did not even know how much that is in USD, but trusted the tour guide). In the end when I checked my credit card bill, they charged us whooping $800!!!! this guy straight up lied. He said that the bottle had a sticker on it. That allows you to bring it through customs. Similar to the stickers that you get inside of customs once you get through security. We are very clear that we did not have a suitcase to check a bag and that we were not checking any bags and he lied. I'm protesting the charge for this, Visa read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE. We bought an expensive sculpture that they said they would send to us in the US due to the size (too large to carry on the plane). They never sent it. I WhatsApp-ed them and called them. They said it was too expensive to send. Fine, refund my $$ ($600 US). Nope they told me I would have to call my CC company in that they couldn't find the receipt and I would have to have them refund my $$. I did. And guess what - BOA did NOT stand behind me - they said that we got what we paid for and gave us a copy of the receipt. Which by the way I had texted them via WhatsApp! And the store owner set his WhatsApp setting to have their messages disappear after 24 hours. I was TOTALLY scammed. Oh and BOA - looking at you. keep your receipts on credit card transactions! this place charged me $200 for a bottle of $20 tequila as a malpractice. absolutely pathetic

Avoid this place at all costs! Don't say you weren't warned! They are located inside the Black Pearl shopping building. We got approached by a guy that called himself "Lopez" he was super pleasant but I had a bad feeling about him and I should've listened to my gut. He let us try about 4 tequilas and went on about how these were "real tequilas" much better quality than the big names like Clase Azul or Patron. We had never heard about any of the ones he was selling but trusted his expertise since we were in fact in tequila country. I did try to google the tequilas while we were there just to make sure what he was telling us was true but I did not have service or wifi on the Island. When he told us the price per bottle we told him no thanks because they were high in our opinion but then he started throwing in extra "free" bottles. We decided on purchasing a couple bottles since he threw in extra "free" bottles, chasers and shot glasses. This is where it gets ugly. After we get back on the ferry to go back to our resort in Cancun I went on my credit card app because again, I had a bad feeling about him. My heart dropped when I saw they charged my card over a thousand dollars, not pesos, DOLLARS! They scammed me and ruined my vacation! I couldn't stop replaying the scenario in my head and wishing that I would've walked out when my gut told me to. Please do yourselves a favor and avoid this place! read more
