The room is bright, lively, and full of energy, with an open kitchen and wood fired oven that immediately sets the tone. The pizza is exactly what you hope for. Light, airy crust with just the right amount of char, simple ingredients, and perfect balance. Every bite tastes intentional and well executed, the kind of pizza that does not need anything extra to impress. The pasta is just as strong. Rich, comforting, and full of flavor, it feels like something you would be served at a neighborhood spot in Italy rather than an Italian restaurant abroad. Nothing feels overdone or adapted for tourists. It tastes authentic and confident. The atmosphere adds to the experience. It is busy without feeling chaotic, polished without feeling formal. You can tell people come here to eat well and enjoy themselves, not to rush through a meal. Forno D'Oro delivers exactly what it promises. Exceptional Italian food, a warm and energetic space, and a dining experience that genuinely makes you feel transported. If you are craving true Italian pizza and pasta in Lisbon, this is an easy yes.

Everything else about the visit was extremely pleasant though. There was a bit of a wait for our table even though we had a reservation, but the folks ahead of us who were at our table were having such a good time that I didn't even mind waiting for them to finish up their drinks. Our server was attentive the entire time which was very much appreciated. There's a cool ambiance about this restaurant -- everyone here (except me!) were dressed very trendy. We started off with a round of caipirinhas which were well made and strong. For pizzas, we went with the caprese and margherita pizzas which were a nice balance. The caprese was topped with fresh arugula and cherry tomatoes which were refreshing. The margherita was everything you'd expect it to be. If you're craving pizza in Lisbon, give this place a try!

They seated me early Ave then announced the kitchen won't open until 7. Having said that, they were very nice and accommodating. They have English menus and English speaking servers. I ordered the berry sangria (rec'd by server), bruschetta, and the saltimbocca with a salad. The food was good to get good - not quite grate. Bruschetta, for instance, the bruschetta hardly had basil and was not seasoned, but the olive oil and tomatoes were lovely. The pork in saltimbocca was a little dry but the sauce was velvety and delicious. I ended with coffee and creme caramel for dessert. The coffee was amazing, which seems to be SOP in Portugal. The caramel (aka flan) was ok and likely not made in house. I saw they have the pasta made in the cheese wheel, but my experiences with that have been underwhelming - it's more show than quality. If that's your jam, may be worth a try. The pizza looked really good. The place itself is cute, tucked into a mall. The tablecloths were a little worn. The staff was attentive and kind. Overall, a pretty good choice.

Why I would order takeout again: Fast and high quality You…read moreHAVE to order: There are other items on the menu, but pizza should be what you go for here. Tony's Tip: As a rookie American ordering in Portugal, I neglected to double check I had the address of the hotel correct, and addresses in Portugal can be confusing to visitors. My first delivery actually got lost, and I had to get the bellman to talk to my driver (biker actually) to help him with the hotel's address. So, make sure you get this right. After a long day vacationing in Lisbon, we were looking to do takeout pizza and chill with a movie one night. Something pretty traditional (neapolitan w/ pepperoni). Taking a cue from my fellow Yelpers, Luzzo looked like it could deliver (see what I did there?). There are 7 locations scattered throughout Portugal, but this one was just blocks from our hotel. They have a wide variety of specialty pizzas. We went with the Tutti Trufi (mozzarella, truffles) and the Guilia (pepperoni, chicken, carmelized pineapple). Both had a perfect crust - thin and a blend between chewy and crispy. Cheese allocation was generous (the way I like it!). Totally hit the spot. It's always a little iffy when you're ordering takeout in another country, but pizza is pretty much a universal food category at this point, and I would absolutely order from Luzzo again.

So I'm slowly catching up on the reviews of a trip that was, at this point, about 3 months ago. But…read morepresuming nothing's changed in 3 months, they had a bunch of great flavors of pizza by the slice, 4-5 euros a slice. That's already not bad, but their slices were... large. We split 4 different slices, but asked them to cut them all in half, which they did. That was... too much food (we ended up eating some for an unexpected pizza breakfast the next morning.) Great pizza, great sauce, great fluffy crust. The flavors we tried - mozzarella and basil (fantastic), pork belly (basically bacon, but very good bacon - fantastic), one other one I didn't appear to have written down, and the mushroom and truffle that we both agreed was certainly mushroomy, but a bit one dimensional. Would definitely come back if we were in Lisbon in the future. It is basically only to-go, which was fine for us, we were staying at a hotel nearby. The do also sell fancy sodas and a great Italian craft beer for, at least as of a little under 3 months ago, 3 euros each, which we also got one of each (also great, especially when you're on vacation and you don't have access to your beer collection like at home. :D)

We passed on this one night regrettably to go to another choice further down into the tourist mess…read morein Lisbon. Walked right by and kids were racing around outside screaming and parents taking over the doorway smoking. It was too much hectic for us that night. Our mistake. Second try we went in and it was a large very nicely decorated place with a Gelateria, coffee, and dessert bar with staff in the front and the big traditional restaurant behind. Got a table immediately. Staff was very friendly and helpful and they used a sort of tag team service model that can sometimes be problematic but they were very efficient with it!! Decorations of stored typical Italian grocery packages, really nice huge open kitchen which was fun to watch their cooks operate and wonderful tables and decor. Not high end but quality colorful surroundings. So back to the children. The place is very popular with local families that appear relatively middle class and some individuals and couples. Even a couple of one top tables eating there all including a little bit of tourists like us. This is not in the big mess of tourist joints but on the Avenue a block behind the Restoradores strip of very high end shopping and easy to miss if you aren't panting attention. We started with the biggest "appetizer" we've ever ordered! It could have easily been our meal with a huge salad. It's called the Buratta Contadina and comes on a huge plate with big triangles of oven baked pizza bread slices, a huge ball of Buratta (soft portion on bottom and firm on top) in the middle with cherry tomato and grilled zucchini slices and I side gravy boat of some fantastic pesto sauce. I'm not a huge fan of pesto but this was wonderful in that it was mild yet flavorful and an ample serving. If you can eat it with your other food DO NOT miss this dish! Then she had the GAMBERONI GRIGLIA and I got the Carbonara so we shared our dishes. Her grilled prawns were whole in the shell with heads and a slightly spicy sauce finish with a lot of juices. She loved sucking the heads and juice!! I don't adore seafood but these were really large and tasty! About 19 euros and worth it. My carbonara was moderate sized and very good. Likely one of the best Carbonara that we've had outside of Italy and better than my home version. This is a very favorite dish of our family and we are very picky about it. She got a pane-cotta dessert that was absolutely Devine. They have an absolutely fantastic Italian dessert menu and they all look amazing!! If you want just some dessert and coffee this place is a great choice too. Another thing we saw here is that they seem to have great pizzas and their signature dish is this pasta fresco that they do table side for you. They have a cart with a huge wheel of Parmesan on top made into a ball on the top and a young server rolls it over to your table with fresh hot pasta in a big pan brought over the Pass from the kitchen and he dumps that on top of the wheel bowl, adds grated Parmesan , seasoning and cream and begins to toss and mix it all up, very much like one makes a carbonara. Then another smaller pan from the Pass is poured over each individual plated serving and given to the diner with a finish of cheese. This sauce is a really good looking chunky mushroom and gravy! WOW No wonder this is their specialty! One Portuguese family of 6 with grandpa, parents and kids were in a large elevated booth and an elegant table side ss wine bucket stand ordered the same dish for every one of them! That's how good I think this is. Many other diners from one tops to this family ordered this and if we go again that's what we will try for sure. My wife says when we sat down that this looked like an Italian American type cuisine and she was slightly correct. As we have seen the typical dining in Italy with Primi, Secondi, etc type of menus and authentic Italian food, this place was very much like a really good version of Italian/American restaurants with quality food and deserts similar to what's found in San Francisco or east coast cities with a large Italian population. Just Portuguese style and decidedly European. Do not miss Al Garage on your trip to Lisboa!!

The waiter was nice and though the menu was big we were able to order fairly quick because we were just looking for lighter bites. 2 of us each got the Bruschetta Toscana which is basically a sampler plate with 4 types of "bruschettas". It was so good!! The bread was perfectly crispy and I loved getting a little bit of everything. It all tasted fresh! They had a huge menu and their pasta dishes looked great so I would come back here if I had the opportunity!
