Dr Matin literally saved my life after another doctor failed to appropriately diagnose me from…read moreseeing me in the ER to three days as an inpatient. Not only did the first doctor NOT diagnose me correctly, he didn't even know the correct specialists to consult with, when he couldn't figure it out himself. (By the way, it really wasn't a 'strange' diagnosis - it should have been caught on Day 1 in the ER by that doctor, or even by simply taking another look at my radiology films). As a result of waiting out three inpatient days, very heavily drugged due to the pain, Dr Matin somehow ended up at my bedside on Day 3 and was left with a 'garbage' patient who was on their way to checking out of this life. I was immediately taken to surgery and what he found should have been diagnosed before it had reached the point of the serious complications that then had. In fact, this is a diagnosis that a first year med student could have easily diagnosed. Dr Matin later told my family that had I waited just one more hour, they would have been making my funeral plans. I will never forget this surgeon. He is one of a kind and i am here today because of him. (As an aside, he also has a wild sense of humor and the best bedside manner). If i could give him 10-stars i would. Interestingly, my adult son who had been seeing 4-5 physicians over approximately 15years for chronic, debilitating and sporadic abdominal pain that nobody could figure out. They removed his appendix (no help). They removed his gall bladder (still no help). They did studies (for GERD, etc) - still he suffered. He was then sent to a pain control clinic where he was prescribed numerous addicting pain medications. He got high as hell (and unfortunately, addicted) - but he still had pain. When he visited me from out of state, i recommended he see Dr Matin. Within 10minutes of seeing my son in his office, my son was diagnosed with bilateral intestinal hernias. Into surgery he went, had the hernias reduced and my son has been pain free since then. (He is also recovering from his pain med addiction and has been clean for over 10years). What more can i say? I would consider Dr Matin a miracle-maker. I suppose it doesn't get any better than that, does it?

Of course, he feels like he just competed in a marathon and did 1000 sit-up's but he is healing very well. We recommend that if you have this procedure you take epsom salt baths and sleep with a heating pad for a couple of days. It really helped with his recovery.

During visits, Dr. Leon seems SO busy or over booked (or just does not care), doesn't know which pt he is seeing, who I am or why I am there. He does not take time to get to know you or educate you at all. For example, during my very first visit with Dr. Leon, he asked if I have "any pertinent family history" - the average person may not know what that means OR what is considered pertinent. My patch test came back posistive for items, including nickel. He asked if I eat a lot of canned food to which I replied "not really, well we have been eating a lot of tuna lately". He did not acknowledge that reply and moved onto his next question. Should I be avoiding tuna or other canned foods??? I guess I will never know. He asked many questions like this to which I replied yes, and he just moved onto the next question with no education or guidance. I asked him the best way to know if I am allergic to a products ingredient if that item was not included in the patch test, to which he replied very odd - giving me a non answer and just telling me to scan my products in the allergy app. Ok, well if we dont test for X, the app will say I am not allergic to X - so that does not help me. I asked him about 3 different, nice ways to which he replied "This is the gold standard and we do patch testing multiple times per week". Again, a non answer and he seemed almost offended that I would ask how I know if I am allergic to something or not that we do not test for. It was super weird so I dropped it. During my follow up with him, he walked into the room and asked ME to remind HIM what my "chief complaint is" bc he didn't take 30 sec to review my chart first. We were in the middle of talking, and after a few min he opens the laptop and says "Anne right?" as though he didn't know WHICH pt I was for sure and had to double check. At my follow up, I had to remind them I was also there for a nasal scope. Dr. Leon was supposed to send a medication to my pharmacy after my appt, that same day and did not. I had to follow up the next day to ask them to send it. Appts are very long, I am often put in a room and wait 45 min or more to be seen. I was also told I needed a sinus CT scan but they could not see me for 5 weeks! Insane. I explained I cannot wait that long and asked to be fit in that week, or send the order to an outside facility, so they did fit me in. I went in this week, Thurs 8/13 for the in office CT scan and waited in the lobby for 30 min. The front desk went to check on my wait time, and when she came back, I heard her tell her coworker that the main guy who does the scan was out that day and the girl covering was not monitoring the CT scan schedule. Great. I was told Dr. Leon would call me with the CT scan results (he reads them in the office), I was given option to wait for him to come talk to me about results in person that day while I was there or a phone call and chose a call because I needed to get back to work. It was implied and understood by me that he would call the same day, this was Thursday. Of course, he did not call me with the results. I sent a msg on the patient portal Thurs 8/13 evening asking them to call me Friday before the weekend as my symptoms were very uncomfortable and I am hoping to know results/treatment plan/meds etc before the weekend. At this point, it's been several weeks since I started coming here and we've tried two diff meds that have not helped. I still did not get a call before they closed Friday 8/14 for the weekend. Do not expect any bedside manner, education, answer to your questions, or prompt care here. I plan to follow up again next week on the scan results and I have already scheduled with a new doctor/office to transfer my care

During my first visit, Dr. Shakouri was very dismissive of the fact that my profession as an airline pilot strictly limits which medications I am allowed to take. Despite my repeated concerns and the FAA medication restrictions, he continued to push for a "large dose" of an allergy medication until I finally said, "I would rather not." I was later scheduled for allergy skin testing and a sinus CT scan. The front desk provided written instructions, which I followed exactly. Those instructions also clearly stated that I would be contacted in advance with pricing if my insurance did not cover the tests. That never happened. On the day of the appointment, I was unexpectedly told I owed $300 for the allergy testing (which I reluctantly agreed to) and $150 for the sinus CT scan (which I declined). I expressed my frustration to Dr. Shakouri, after which he issued a refund, and I chose to terminate care with this office. Overall, this was a very frustrating and unprofessional experience. Poor communication, disregard for occupational medical restrictions, and irresponsible front office practices. I now have to start the entire process over again elsewhere. I do not recommend this practice. If any part of it were inaccurate, a respectful clarification would be appropriate -- not a blanket attempt to discredit patients for speaking publicly. He talks things out with you and will come up with the best route to take instead of putting you on bunch of medication until finding one that sticks. He will let you switch or change doses if it sounds good to try and get you on the perfect plan. He has always been so kind and seems to really care. I have crazy anxiety. It comes on strong in traffic. So if I'm willing to drive out to his office all the way out in Keller then to have a Doctor here in Fort Worth where they wanted to push every kind of medicine on me or a Doctor that won't give you medication you have known to work and been on for years. Dr Musgrave listened to me without judgment and came up with a plan for me that got me off of too much medication and now I'm off of medication ai didn't need and on the proper meds with the proper does. I'm taking way less medication and feel better then ever. I recommend him to my best friend who is Now a patient of Dr a Musgrave now! And she is a nurse, so she is not naive about Doctors and medication. The office staff is nice which is always nice. And their website has a patient portal that is easy to use and messages and requests are answered is a timely manner and always get a response within a day at most. It's a nice clean Building and most importantly especially since I drive a long distance, I have never had to wait longer than under 10 mins. Usually my name is called in 5 minutes. I've never waited like other offices. So yeah, great Place, great staff, Great Doctor who gives great care.

1 Star -- Completely Failed by the Level of Care…read more I genuinely do not understand where the numerous five-star reviews for this facility are coming from, because my experience was nowhere close to five-star care. I specifically chose this facility in part because their website advertises ultrasound availability. After arriving, however, I learned that an ultrasound technician was not actually there and had to be called in. When someone is choosing where to seek urgent medical care, advertised diagnostic capabilities matter. I came in with significant left-sided pelvic/ovarian pain and a complicated medical history. I was completely honest with the physician about the pain medications I am already prescribed and why I take them. Instead of feeling like that honesty helped my care, I immediately felt judged. His demeanor and facial expression noticeably changed, the examination felt rushed, and he seemed eager to leave the room. The nursing care was equally concerning. They attempted to establish an IV seven times without success. I was stuck seven separate times, and I did not receive so much as an apology. Based on my experience, I had serious concerns about the level of competency and training demonstrated during my care. I was eventually given one Toradol injection. The physician had told me he would address my pain, yet I still had to specifically ask for pain relief. The transvaginal ultrasound was excruciatingly painful. Ironically, the ultrasound technician who had to be called in was one of the only people who actually advocated for me. She could clearly see the amount of pain I was experiencing and advocated for something stronger to help control it. More than 30 minutes later, I still had not heard a word from anyone regarding that request. I wasn't given a call light. I wasn't connected to continuous vital-sign monitoring. I was left alone in a room in significant pain without meaningful communication about what was happening or what the plan for my care was. I was also extremely disturbed by what I witnessed regarding patient privacy. Nursing staff discussed another patient's medical information inside my room and used that patient's first and last name. Regardless of the technical circumstances, patients should not have to hear identifiable information about another patient's care, and it made me seriously question how my own private medical information was being handled. Most frustrating of all, the ultrasound confirmed multiple cysts on my left ovary, exactly where I was experiencing significant pain. I did not come here without a legitimate medical concern. The only two employees I can genuinely compliment are the receptionist and the ultrasound technician. Both were compassionate and professional. The ultrasound technician, in particular, recognized that I was hurting and actually advocated for me. I chose this facility because of its extremely high reviews and because it appeared to offer the diagnostic services I needed. I expected compassionate, competent urgent medical care. Instead, I experienced seven unsuccessful IV attempts, inadequate communication, serious concerns about patient privacy, inadequate pain management, and a diagnostic service advertised as available that required someone to be called in. I came here looking for help. Instead, I am leaving feeling judged, ignored, and defeated. I have absolutely no idea where all of these five-star reviews are coming from, but mine certainly will not be one of them.
