I filed a claim on 14 June 2024 re: damage to electric equipment in my home temporally related to obvious work company was doing to replace blown fuses on transformers. After over a month, I have yet to hear from someone in Richmond to discuss my claim. I called the company today 30 min on hold with claims and no anwer. No system to call back in cue. The company does NOT value customer time. Called back and asked for supervisor. After 30 min I hung up as again no one to take my call. This company is in major need of customer service, a respecting customer time on hold by having a call back system like other companies. read more

I'm going to update my previous review. I moved into my new place in unincorporated Fairfax County near Fairfax City in the middle of August. The power went out around 8:00 on a Saturday night. I called to report the outage. The voicemail menu requested an account number which I did not have since I was a tenant, and the power was in the landlord's name. I stayed on the line and spoke to a representative. She told me the power would be on in several hours, like three or four in the morning. I was able to report the power outage with only the address of the property. They told me that other people in the neighborhood had already reported the outage and there were already crews working on it. The power was back up in maybe an hour. This was much better than my previous experience a few years ago, when I could not report a power outage at all because I did not have my previous landlord's account number. read more

Communication with Dominion is so frustrating. I get it that they have a difficult job, but the least they can do is keep us updated during outages and provide some sort of eta so those of us who are camping out here can plan for alternatives. When you call you're on hold forever and then they just read a script rather than actually speaking to us as customers. read more

Had to sign up for Dominion power. They signed me up - then sent me to another customer rep for "special discounts" on Internet service and "Power Surge Protection". The lady starts explaining what power surge protection is, and without my approval, goes, "okay I'm signing up for the $3/mo insurance plan" and quickly moves on to the next subject. I had to stop her in the middle and be like... "did you just sign me up for something that I didn't say yes to...". She goes: "Oh its highly recommended for your area". Highly recommended my ass. No. I don't need your power surge protection. THEN I had no idea that there would be coercion attempts at signing me up for internet. I thought she was going to email me discount codes for internet service. So I could do my research and decide. Nope. I asked her what my options were, and she goes there are so many, I'm not going to sit here and "legit" read all of them to you. Comcast and Fios are the most popular choices. I say "Okay can I get the pricing?" She gives it to me. She kept pushing Comcast because its "so much cheaper than Fios". Then just selects Comcast for me as my best choice. When I realized what was happening - she was signing me up for service right there - I made her stop. Then when I asked for clarification, she goes, "I'm a registered Comcast Rep." OH OKAY - now it makes sense why you're pushing me to choose Comcast. Listen Dominion, I'm not stupid. There's no way that you're going to provide me with a cheaper Internet rate when you have a middle-man between the cable company and the consumer. Its obviously cheaper for me to get it by myself as a new customer. Anyone who falls for this scam is getting PLAYED. Stop being so sketchy. I cannot express how peeved I am about the situation. I'm going to call and ask to talk to someone at Dominion about this tomorrow. Hopefully get that woman fired. read more

Awful provider of power. Lost power again in the middle of our development. Everyone around us has power. It makes no sense why Dom engineering can't fix this. I believe Dom just doesn't care. However they can dish up a lot of excuses. You would think we live in a third world country. That is if you don't leave here and drive for two blocks to see all the houses all lit up. I Have been a customer of Dominion since 2008. I live in Boston and choose Dominion as my supplier. In Feb of 2012 I checked my bill and found that Dominion was 26% higher than my local utility. When I called Dominion, they told me they were sending me a notice every year with the new rate, HOWEVER if i wanted a lower rate I needed to call them. I asked how would I know to do that??? Dominion sucks and is a sleezey co. Do not do business w/them...they will screw you!!! read more

Horrible costumer service, no one wants to help resolve an issue of overcharging my bill for almost $200 more than the previous bills, they said that it might be because of an appliance usage, I have had the same appliances for 3 years and lived in the same apartment for that time, they also gave other stupid excuses to "explain" why my bill increased so much. Then, I contacted the State Commission, which I thought would be able to help me and cared for Virginia costumers, but it turns out the the person who works there is actually the Dominion Power spokesperson R.D. WOW!! So, I guess Dominion Power will keep stealing money as they wish from people since we have NO other CHOICE for a power company in Northern Virginia. Dominion cut down a bunch of large thigh-sized branches and threw them on my flowers. When I called to complain, the guy "Michael Bolton" or something, essentially told me how my flowers weren't important. Power is out again... They said it would be fixed by now but it's not... Called to ask what the problem was but they had conveniently gone home. Wish I could give a lower rating. read more

After setting up a transfer to a new address with correct dates online, Dominion changed the shutoff date to occur immediately and sent a tech out. The tech was horrible, and I had to argue with him that there was a mistake; he was going to shut off our power and heat in 15 degree weather even though I was there telling him not to. He finally agreed to come back in half an hour, and I had to make a 20 minute call in the middle of the workday to get dominion to fix their mistake. Still waiting to see if the tech comes back. If I hadn't been outside my house at the exact moment he showed up I would be freezing right now. Completely irresponsible, and the only good thing about the whole experience was the helpful person on the phone. read more

this company steals from its customers shamelessly! and because it's a monopoly, both the company and it's employees could care less, they billed me more for an empty residence then for an occupied one, they further tried to sell me that my larger home that averages between 11-54 kwh over 2 years has no bearing on the average of 87kwh!!!!!! for a much smaller vacant home!!!! WTF Dominion and it's employees should be wearing masks like normal robbers!!!!! it's a shame we dont have the opportunity to take our business to a reputable firm!!!! read more

If they weren't the only power company in the area, I would have left them a while ago. Their service is horrible. I asked them to complete a service last June, yes June of 2012. It's the end of March 2013 and it is still not done. They first came out in June to assess what needed to be done. They said they would come out in a couple of days. I asked if there was any way to know exactly which day, they said no, they'll just come out whenever. Ok, fine. 2 days later we got that crazy storm that left millions without power. Ok, I understand that they need to postpone and take care of higher prioritized things. 2 months later, I contacted them about the update on this service request, nothing, no response, nada. I submitted a new request online. They came out within 2 weeks but said that they couldn't complete the work that day and their supervisor would call me to reschedule. This was back in December 2012. NO ONE has called me to reschedule since and it's been 3 months. They must think that they're the only power company serving this area and they didn't have to care about their customers.
