(We kinda gave up on them after being to so many). We happened upon this place. Thank god we did. The Owner of the shop Thomas Trucy, ushered us in like old friends. Little did we know, we would become nearly best friends by the time we left. Not only is he friendly, he speaks perfect English (wIthout making you feel like a tourist), he is witty, and very knowledgeable about his wines. His shop holds a great collection, anywhere from 12 Euros up to who knows, but he will never push you to buy something you wouldn't like, or just because it is super expensive. He asks you what you enjoy drinking first. Have you ever heard a french shop owner compare one of their inventory items to an Oregon Pinot? Not likely, but he did and he was right on the money of what we were looking for. His location is in the perfect parking spot for walking around Dijon as well. We went back the next day, just to tell him about the wine he recommended the day before, and the rest is history. We still talk overseas, and we plan on using him to get hard to find wines in the States to ship here. At least we can pretend we are in France when they arrive. Please visit his shop the next time you are near Dijon, you will not be disappointed!!!

I did not know what to expect, but so glad we did it!! I sure agree now, that this is the #1 thing to do in Beaune!! A passionate, knowledgeable, and welcoming husband and wife team introduces you to Burgundy wine, about the region, how to read wine labels, "how to taste Burgundy wines", and food paring. The blind tasting was super fun!! It was the most interesting, educational and fun, eye-opening experience. This is not your typical "wine tasting." I recommend you do this first (when you arrive in Burgundy). The knowledge you'll gain from this tasting experience will benefit the rest of your wine trip in Beaune and Burgundy. We bought a few bottles and they waived the tasting fees, but I believe its only about $10-15, for 3-hour class. (For the value, that's a super bargain!). Reservation is highly recommended. I believe the only way to make a reservation is to call them directly. They speak English so it was super easy and hassle-free to make an appointment by phone.

I'm shocked to find a great selection from my hometown (San Diego), and some of my other favorite beers, including BrewDog and Flying Dog beers. The location also means that it's easy for me to pick up celebratory Prosecco or a friend's favorite beer when I greet them at the airport. They also stock a lot of local brews, including ciders, and everything is labeled clearly with the name (in French) and flags of each country below the bottles, well-informing your selection, even if you have a hard time making up your mind with so many bottles to choose from! Thankfully, the staff here are very friendly and helpful, and if you drop in often (or have a lot of visitors, as I do) you can get a frequent buyer card, with a stamp for every 10chf spent. Once the card is full your next beer is on them! They even take used bottles of local beers back and return you the recycling fee upon their return, giving you another reason to keep coming back. Like I need another reason to, anyways- from what I've seen around Geneva, their prices really can't be beat!

We drove up to Le Chamonix / Argentiere ( a top ski French ski resort) and found plenty of the same regional beers we found at DotW, only at a 1/2 to 1/3 of the price at a the local super market. We will "dollar cost average" and get over it. But unless you are stuck in Geneva or desperately need an IPA, don't try to load up there for drinks down the road unless you have $$ to spend

You can either cross the busy road or take the steps down from the parking area to the tunnel under the road. You can either sample your choice of wines by the glass from the wine list or you can buy a sampler package and they choose the wines. We had the Chasellas package which included 3 whites and the Discovery which included 3 whites and the Plant Robert (only place this grape is planted) red. You can either get each wine one at a time or all at once. There is also a movie about the wine which is shown in English and French. The guy who worked there was very friendly and knowledgeable without being "wine snobby."
