History
Established in 1726.
For almost three centuries, the winemaking families of Château de Pommard have left their indelible footprints in the soil. From the Micaults, the first family of Pommard, to the Marey-Monges, the most influential dynasty in all of Burgundy, and now our family, Famille Carabello-Baum, has the honor of guiding the estate forward into the future.
Clos Marey-Monge, at the heart of the domain, has been producing one of the greatest expressions of Pinot Noir for more than two millennia. In July 2015, UNESCO declared the clos a world heritage protected Climat of Burgundy. The seven clay and limestone rich terroir of Clos Marey-Monge make it the largest and most interesting monopole in the Côte d'Or. It is from these terroir that we distill the very essence of Burgundy into three acclaimed wines - Vivant Micault, Clos Marey-Monge Monopole and Simone.

Meet the Business Owner: Michael B.
Michael fell in love with the people, terroir and wines of Burgundy. He wanted somehow to be part of it. Following almost three decades of innovating and building companies in Silicon Valley, Michael searched for a way to disconnect and wandering the vineyards of Burgundy, visiting the villages and making new friends was the perfect recipe.
The Baum family is proud to open the fifth chapter over almost 300 years and guide the development of Clos Marey-Monge and Château de Pommard. The goals are noble, but simple: elevate the terroir and make beautiful, elegant wines in harmony with nature and share his love of Burgundy with the world.
