I've read several reviews (on other forums) saying that the wine here is too heavy and bold. Considering I live very close to Napa, California, am used to the full bodied bold wines available here, and that the majority of French wine is incredibly delicate: we decided to stop by and try it out. Since they are in the Gevrey Chambertin region, they focus on solely Gevrey Chambertin wines from different plots. Friendly staff, very informative, and we felt welcome.
Very interesting experience walking into a medieval house full of random statues and decorations. You start with a self guided tour of the basement full of taxidermy, medieval items, suits of armor, and some creepy stuff hidden throughout. When you return upstairs, you're asked if you'd to do a tasting.
The tasting is 10 Euros and we sampled at least 7 wines which were all good, if not great! We ended up purchasing a bottle of Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers to take back home with us. We also got a cash discount that was a good deal compared to paying with card. If you have enough cash, its worth an ask! read more
