It's a very nice winery, lovely building in a nice setting. Inside it's very classy. Tours are available too. We tasted a few of their wines. Some red, some white. Really lovely french wine. It was really nice here in the tasting room, felt very relaxed. Ended up buying a pack of three wines: red, white and Rosé. For 99 Euros a really good price. Had the fresh, fruity and crisp White the same night for dinner and brought the other two bottles home. Both the Rosé and the Red were really enjoyable as well. France has so many wines and wineries. This one here surely is a very good one with enjoyable wines for every budget. A great tasting experience. And our Bulldog was even welcome inside as well. Parking is right out front and there are plenty of spots.

Seatings next to vineyard, regional food made and served by the winemaker family (Christine Drouhin and her daugther Caroline), accompanied by some of the best wines (their own) there is - it is hard to ask for more. As work in the vineyards and cellar is top priority, Drouhin-Laroze does not operate like a regular restaurant. One needs to call/write ahead and, given availability, book a table. Booking a table and a winery tour, and you score twice. It is definetely worth a try. Mostly famous for its wine, Burgundy is definitely a food AND wine region, where the gastronomic tradition is almost as long-established as that of its red and white wines. And there are few better places in the area to experience this than in the company of Christine and her family.

The selection is not as wide as some of the larger counterparts but the wines were very tasty the winemaker, whose name I have forgotten (shame on me) had patiently explained their philosophy and story as well as gave us a tasting. The wines (which they only produce reds) were very nicely balanced and had very good taste and unlike others from Gevrey-Chambertin didn't bring high minerality to the palate which was very nice.

Having only had tried Sonoma coast and some other California product, I figured it was time for them to try the old world styles. Not wanting to shock them too much, I picked a producer that somewhat bridges the old and new worlds. The Domain Mortet is a good balance of the punch of new world winemaking with the reserved minerality of the old. It is unfortunate that Denis Mortet had taken his own life a number of years back but his son and wife carry on his traditions to this day.

Pascal Marchand is another in the long line of greats that makes wine one of those pleasurable things in life but also makes you crazy that the level of what you can spend can be ratcheted up astronomically. Clos des ormes 2010, isn't cheap but isnt too pricey either. If you like wine you'll know where your money went. The balance of weight, floral, acid, fruit, and minerality are well kept here. A beautiful red that expresses what Burgundy wines are about with the ability to stand alone or paired with many complex spiced foods.
