OK, maybe a bit strange to review a moving walkway/travelator/pathway-for-lazy-people (whatever you like to call it), but this is no ordinary moving walkway. Well, actually it is, it's just really long! Situated in the Domain Car Park and stretching to the St Marys Cathedral exit in Hyde Park (or vice-versa if you go the other way), the Domain Express Walkaway measures in at 207 metres, which makes it the longest continuous walkway in the southern hemisphere (apparently) and it's also reported to be the 3rd longest in the world! Interesting, eh?! Oh, and worried that it'll be too quick and you'll get motion sickness? No, you're probably not. But if you were, you need not worry, as it travels at 0.67metres/second, which is apparently optimal for passenger safety AND comfort! On top of all these interesting walkway facts, there is also an array of art lining both sides, depicting aboriginal and local scenes.
Now don't expect a quiet ride for the 4m50s (I did actually time it - I had a good reason though) you're on there - that's if you stand still for the whole trip. It's certainly not one of the silent, metal ones you get in the airport. No, it's an aging rubber belt running over cogs that were last oiled many, many years ago, so avoid if you're suffering from an ear infection!
