As a general rule small town grocery stores are not pleasant to be in. Most are musty smelling,…read morehave shriveled produce, extremely overpriced, generic-only brands, expired food and greenish meat. This store is definitely in a small town and if you aren't a local you probably won't find it on your own. It does have shriveled bell peppers and a lot of generic brands, but it has a large variety of products for the size of the building. The meat department is small but it had some of the best looking NY Strips I've seen in a while. The meat selection covered the basic needs of anyone not willing to drive to a larger city. There was fresh ground beef in small packs, 10 lb ground beef chubs (in the clear plastic tubes), NY Strip in varying thicknesses, Slugburger mix, pork chops and chicken. Can vegetables were all on average .59¢ a can and mostly "Best Choice" generic label. One aisle was dedicated to cleaning products and bug killer and mouse bait. The rest of the store had a little bit of everything from frozen pizza to cookies, snacks to multiple types of flour. The one aspect of this little grocery store is that the prices were not overly inflated. The steaks were priced right along with what is available in Corinth, a city several times larger than Burnsville. I walked out with 10 lb potatoes, a dozen eggs, a small bottle of milk and 1 lb carrots for $5.00. If you've ever watched shows dated back to the 50s and 60s you will notice if, in the background a grocery store is pictured, you will see handwritten prices on white butcher paper taped to the front windows. You see the same here, at the entry windows on white butcher paper are prices such as, Boneless Chuck Roast $2.99 lb, Russet Potatoes $2.50 for 10 lb bag, Green Cabbage .39¢ lb, Best Choice Flour $1.19 for 5 lb bag and 8oz Best Choice Sour Cream .75¢. What you also get here, is friendly employees that smile and sincerely tell you to "have a blessed day/night" as you walk out. That's a little something you don't generally find in large stores in the cities.
