Well if you haven't been in an Ollie's and you live in Pennsylvania or Ohio, it's kind of like…read moreshopping at Gabriel Brothers. It's a more organized offspring of a thrift store and a church Bazaar. Nothing fancy, but they're true to their slogan,"Good stuff cheap". And cheap it is. Sometimes I find things that are less expensive than at Dollar Tree, only 4 doors down in the same Plaza. That said, you can't always find what you're looking for, but you often find something that you want or need. Hence, kind of like a church Bazaar. It's either maddening as heck or fun, as you sift through the bargains and wend your way to the back of the store to see if that close-out on carpets is something that you like. It's one of those polarizing places. Either you love it or you don't. Ollie's sells many name brand things, from Men's, Women's, and Children's clothes, to accessories, Health and Beauty aids, lawn and garden supplies, art, crafts, pet and school supplies. They have a nice book department, and sell things like Bible covers, Sudoku, crossword puzzles and word searches, as well as books for toddlers to adults. Yes, Ollie's even sells food. Nothing perishable, but you can find anything from Pink Himalayan salt, to candy, and cereal, to your favorite junk food, like pork rinds and cheese balls. I've even found jars of marinated bell peppers, huge jars of minced garlic, and if you like flavored coffee, I've even seen flavored coffee syrups and creamer. True, Ollie's might not have it all, but they sure have a lot of Good Stuff Cheap.

I have always scheduled my eye exams at a Walmart Vision Center because they've been much more efficient than Lenscrafters. I went to this location's Vision Center for this first time today for an eye exam at 10 AM and was seen right away. The doctor was wrapping up with another patient but I only had to wait five minutes or so before I was seen. The staff and doctor were very friendly and able to answer my questions. The part that took the longest was when the associate who completed my checkout for new frames had to call my insurance -- I know this is not the associate's fault, but just wanted to point it out in case you're using insurance to pay. After my coverage was verified the checkout process was also nice and fast. The frame selection is decent; the Vision Center is on the smaller side but they have a good selection of men's, women's, and children's frames (plus sunglasses) ranging from $8-$150 or so. I was able to find the frames I wanted for only $9. I will definitely schedule my eye exams here in the future. I appreciated how quickly I was seen and the friendliness of the staff. This is a great option if you want a no-fuss exam without a lot of waiting time.

This one is trying to make the pivot, but it's just not the best experience. Yes they've done some store upgrades, but their problems with pilferage mean that regular items you'd want to buy are locked up. And there are always long lines at checkout. Sometimes they are sold out of very routine things. It's not very convenient.

And it's safe to say mine had seen better days. Always cleaned and sanitized, bleached, but it was beat. Being close to Walmart, but not always pleased, I still gave it a chance. I went there in pursuit of a new kitchen garbage can and the selection was slim, not many in stock, and not much info as to when new stock was coming in. So I ventured to Target as I've done before. I walked into a very clean, spic & span store, was politely greeted by 2 young stock/inventory men. I asked for directions as to where I could find garbage cans and they immediately directed me. When I got to the isle I had a question about the can top and then locations of bags, and again, prompt help, service! The garbage can is an 11.4 gallons priced at $12.00 dollars, and I also purchased a 110 13 gallon bags at $8.99, grand total, $22.67. And the cash out line was expeditious. I'm pleased! And when I left, I mentioned to the cash out clerk how clean the store was, and helpful the sales people were. I said this is much different than Walmart. He looked at me and said, "we try sir".
