Today, I stopped by the Dollar Tree on Marion Street in Shelby, North Carolina.
To be frank, it would have been much easier to shop there if the staff were actually engaged in their work. I really don't want to criticize anyone, but it's hard to overlook the sight of someone who appears to be the manager sitting outside, absorbed in her phone, while the store itself is in disarray. It leads me to believe that a change in leadership might be necessary.
Shopping should be a straightforward and enjoyable experience, and this store's current state makes it anything but. Instead of feeling like a retail environment, it felt more like wading through a landfill.
I find it frustrating when employees say, "We just got our truck." If that's the case, then the new stock should stay in the back until it can be organized. The clutter was overwhelming--empty boxes littered the floor, and full boxes of merchandise were scattered everywhere. Navigating the aisles felt like an obstacle course, and finding products required digging through the chaos. It was clear that they don't bother to tidy up their shelves before closing, leaving the store in a complete mess. This was, without a doubt, the worst Dollar Tree I've ever visited, and I suspect the two positive reviews might be from employees rather than actual customers.
I can confidently say I won't be returning. The place is a total disaster. However, I will commend Miss Vicky at the register--she was the only person who seemed to genuinely care about her job. While she was busy organizing shelves and managing the register, the so-called manager was outside vaping, seemingly oblivious to the state of the store. read more
