Dollar Tree stores are the spiritual successor to the five and dime stores from long ago like "TG&Y"? And if you remember TG&Y stores, you must be a boomer or a Gen-X'er like me. Congratulations! You made it this far!! Woohoo! Now... before we go any further.. yes I know that items there cost more than $1. About a year or 2 ago, the chain raised the price of most of its items to $1.29. This location is located in the Walmart plaza in Highland next to the Aldis. Most stores in this chain are laid out similarly. The employees of this store are usually always helpful and friendly. So here are the pros and cons of this location (and most Dollar Trees, to be honest). Pros - You can usually find lots of stuff here in a variety of categories! Snacks, school supplies, cleaning supplies, art supplies, home goods, auto accessories, light hardware, batteries, first aid supplies, home medicinals, cold medicine, party supplies, you name it and you can find it here! Cons - So with the low price of most everything in here, it's very easy to walk out with a $100 shopping trip because you found dozens of items you never thought you needed until you walked in! It's very very easy to go crazy in this store "on accident". Trust me, I've done this before. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE!! Now for a dose of reality. Dollar Trees are by no means high-end stores by any stretch of the imagination. They are for people on a budget; and let's just say, the store kind of reflects this. I wouldn't say this store is dirty or messy; but it can be disorganized at times - with items sometimes on the floor. To add to this, it never seems like they have a lot of staff on-site to constantly be tending to such things. Its actually a testament to their employees that they always seem to be in a good mood and helpful despite the slightly run-down state of things. Overall I'd say this location (and most Dollar Trees) gets 3 solid stars. I usually come in a couple of times a month to look for this and that and trust me. I almost always find this and that and walk out with a lot of other things as well. Pretty sure you will too! read more

Omg this has to be the absolute worst Dollar tree store I've ever seen. It was a trash hole. Nothing was tidy everything was a hot mess. Nothing was stocked and the little stuff they did have was just thrown around. The employees were slow and you could tell they don't take their job seriously. Several items are marked as $1.25 in the aisles but ring up as $1.50 at checkout. When I asked the manager, I was told they raised prices in their system but haven't updated all the shelf signage yet. If prices aren't clearly marked, customers have no way of knowing what they'll actually be charged. The manager pointed to one item where the price had been updated and said, "See? Certain things are now $1.50," even though other items were still clearly labeled $1.25 but charged at $1.50. What bothered me most was that they were aware of the issue and didn't seem to think it was a big deal. This place needs to close already. I understand being understaffed, but the employees are rude as well. There was one person at the register and one person at the back of the store. I asked the lady in the back if she could come help at the register and she said no and started mumbling under her breath. Seriously there were like 15 people in line. Opening boxes at the back of the store is not a priority the customers are. That's why people just walk out with merchandise , staff don't care about the store or the customers. read more

I have been coming to this Dollar tree for years, and I am sad to say it is starting to change and I don't think it's for the better. Unfortunately they always are understaffed and there are huge lines waiting to be checked out the employees that they do have working are always very nice though. They started with the price hikes at 1.25 oer item instead of the good ol dolla... Okay.... Whatever. Now that we have lost the 99 cent store and the upcoming 5below next door they seem to be conforming to consumerism more and more. Now they are stocking items for up to 10 dollars and the normal 1.25 prices have been raised on a lot of items. Now it is a nicer inventory but still kinda sucks. Ultimately at 1.50 for myler balloons still not bad. read more

The workers are so rude they will not give you a refund even if you have your receipt. I never even left the store an d could not get a refund on items that said 125 but it was 6 dollars each I had 4 items. The manager Sean I needed a refund and she said I decided to take a 45 min lunch. The employee told me she had a 30 min lunch but she took a hour lunch because she didn't want to do her job. Messy, dirty bathroom. Went there for balloons and they had no helium. The cashier was rude and didnt even greet me. It's always busy, coz I think a lot of homeless or low-income people shops there. I have been trying to call for the past 2-3 days, the phone is always busy signal. I think they hang the phone off the hook so they don't answer it. Went there on Monday morning and there was a man who greeted us right away. He also was our cashier. Super nice guy, you don't see that too often. I was not impressed with the store. It seemed dark in there as if their lights blew or they are saving electricity. There was a soda can lying in the corner as if someone drunk it then threw it there. This had to be from the night before because I was there shortly after opening plus the clothes had all been unfolded and not put away nicely again from day before I'm assuming. I went to this location today and was immediately greeted by Kyle, an employee working at check-out. His customer service was great. Kyle was friendly, enthusiastic, and efficient. The name on the window said "Dollar Tree ", but my items rang up at $1.25, not one of them said the price was different than the advertised $1.00. Then after paying more than I expected (which is not a big deal, it's just the principal) I give the cashier my $20, he wads up my change hands it to me and continues on with the next customer. Came to this store for balloons and i asked the lady at the register named Priscilla if she can blow me up some balloons that i wanted in a color. She was rude and told me no that i had to choose what was already out. And that they have enough balloons for valentines. I've been to dollar tree several times to get balloons and they always blew up the balloons that i would request from the wall. She was really rude about it. Poor customer service. read more

There is always something going on when I go to this fall or tree. First, the line is ALWAYS long! It is rare when they ask for back up because they always say the manager is "very busy" if I am trying to go into and out. Already know what I want or need, I am there for at least 15 minutes because of the long line. Second, one of the guys that work there acts like he hates his job. Which I understand how it is because Redlands Dollar Tree was my first job. Third, I understand the policies for checking IDs. I work in retail as well. Anything that is $20.00 or more needs to be verified with an ID. One person at the store verifies for $3.00 transaction? Why does one person ask for a small amount of a transaction? They open at 8am and the first hour is for vulnerable customers only. Well the 2 Hispanic women who opened denied a pregnant woman because "she didn't look pregnant " and when the woman told them they can't do that, the 2 girls proceeded to make fun of her saying she didn't even look pregnant and she probably didn't even know if she was because she was buying a pregnancy test. One of the worst in inventory stock I've ever came across. This dollar tree is quite picked over with little to no inventory. The one in Redlands and Loma Linda have way better inventory. The workers are polite and helpful in the store which is nice. read more

This dollar tree gave me a counterfeit $20 dollar bill back in change. I did not realize it until I went to go get gas and the attendant brought the bill out to me and informed me. I immediately went back to the dollar tree where it came from and the manager basically called me a liar. A police report has been filed and I am still waiting to hear back from their corporate office. I hope this does not happen to anyone else, and this location can train their employees to be more vigilant about counterfeit bills. read more

The best way to improve your customer service is unfortunately sometimes by criticism. The store is poorly organized and shopping baskets are dirty. The store manager should take a little pride and clean up the store. Thought it was Christmas with the long lines and one cashier at the front manually keying in each item because her manager would not move her to a register with a scanner. Then the cashier overcharged me for items I did not receive. I went to get my money back and the manager was extremely belittling me and said we don't give refunds. Without understanding the whole situation and because of her poor management skills she might regret the way she talked to me because I have contacted the corporate office. I believe I deserve a full refund for items I did not want in the first place. I grabbed some items I didn't plan on purchasing just to square up with the store. I feel it was unfair and no store manager should ever talk to a customer like that. I am not blaming the cashier! I think they should investigate the store manager and her management skills! read more
