I normally go the Dollar Tree in Troy (in the Walmart plaza) but I was on my way to Panera to pick up curbside, and this was the only dollar store in that area. It had kind of an old/funky smell inside. I saw they had cards through the window, so that was encouraging, but their Halloween selection is pretty limited; they maybe had like 10 different card designs to choose from, but 7-8 of those were for little kids (grandkids, children, etc). I ended up buying five for family and friends, and good thing I did because they have a $5 minimum limit for credit cards. The final reason I'm giving them 3 stars: the cashier was not wearing a mask. The man next to him beside the counter was, FWIW. He had a very thin layer of plastic sheeting between me and him, so I'm guessing that's why he thought it was fine ... however, I'm "high risk," so I definitely wiped off my credit card with a wipe when I got back to my car. I wouldn't stop by here again, I will just go to Dollar Tree next time. But they do have a lot of cards (non-Halloween ones) if you need them.

There was stock for most anything you are looking for. Unlike some bargain stores, I did not have to push dropped or sloppy set up of items aside so I can maneuver mom in her wheelchair; the floor was free of trash or misplaced items...yay! They have excellent bargains for office products, decorations, food, laundry, etc. I like that they had Poastems as an alternative to Toastems as Poestems have way more filling inside. Unfortunately they did not have any unfrosted Poastems so I did not buy any...that hard, overly sweet, sugar frosting is disgusting to me. We will return.

Took them home and charged and installed them exactly according to the instructions. They worked for 10 minutes and completely stopped working. They did this several times. Took them back to Dollar Tree the very next day with the box, receipt and all enclosed paperwork. The manager would not refund my money or exchange them for other items of equal value. Then she got rude and nasty and refused to give me the name and phone number to the real store manager so I could call him the next day.

I will however admit that the store could be much more clean and organized, as the floor and shelves are often messy, and many aisles are almost bare of products. While this is unfortunately the case, I must add that I do see employees out doing what they can to remedy the situation, and all of the employees I've interacted with have been friendly and helpful. The store is large, and I love their huge selection of books. They also have a very large parking lot, so there is no issue finding a spot. It's great for yard and home items, also rugs and carpet remnants. Ollie's could use some polishing, but it's still a great quick stop shop.

For those of you looking for an inexpensive gift for someone, you just may find it here. I almost bought a little desktop fountain for $5 but managed to use some self control. They still have their usual items that you're used to seeing here, it's just an added bonus now to have more to shop for. Maybe this place is just not for me, but it was not as clean or nice looking as I thought it would…read morebe. I understand the bins are probably old, but everything is old and yellowing which makes everything look a bit unsanitary. Some scoops were inside the buckets, touching the food. So the hand germs from the scoop is now in the food, and someone needs to reach in and touch the food in order to retrieve it. Which I saw a customer do. The directions are also unclear, you need to write down all the product codes instead of the large number on the information sheets, which is the price/lb. We did get small portions of 2 types of candy, both which were stale. It was also $6, which is cheap, but I can get x5 the amount of candy at the dollar store or drugstore for that price. The staff member was nice, and there was a regular in there who seemed to come often.

I selected my salt and pepper and paid less than half of what I would have paid in a traditional store. There were so many different items to browse. I was especially happy to see the bulk coffee beans and the coffee grinder! I love vanilla tootsie roll midgets and found them in bulk here...they are so very hard to find.
