This DT feels more…read morelike a family store than the one in Lanier Plaza, which feels more like an in-and-out convenience store. Clientele is more subdued, stock is less chaotic, and people aren't frantically rushing to grab something on lunch hour, or doing random weird stuff at night. I did have one really terrible experience at this store (and I visited this DT multiple times over my month staying on Jekyll), and it was when three employees were restocking the pet aisle. They had boxes everywhere, totally blocking off the whole aisle. The store was pretty busy at that time, and all the other customers were having to detour around the aisle because of the huge mess the three employees were making. So I asked them if I could please get one of the dog ball launchers, since I obviously could not get to it myself, and all it would take was for one of them to reach over and hand it to me. The woman at the left of my photo, was going to get it for me, when another woman at the right (and of course the rude woman is hiding behind the older woman on the right) retorted in the nastiest voice "Yeah, you can come get it yourself." Like really tough, like she wanted to find a broken bottle and fight somewhere. Um, wow! That is just about the rudest response I have ever gotten from anyone at a DT ever. So I tried to go forward but clearly couldn't walk into a pile of boxes they had blocking my way. I left the aisle. Later, as I passed the back of the aisle, I was able to step over several boxes (which is absolutely ridiculous), and reach over another pile of trash boxes they had lying there, in order to get the ball launcher. The three employees just stood around pretending to work, and the tough one still looked like she wanted a broken bottle fight. Pretty hideous. She was a tall-ish white woman with auburn-brown hair. Looked middle aged, but might be younger, couldn't tell with such a sour look on her face. She definitely has no customer service skills.

I have been repeatedly been given attitude by customers almost every time I go in there. A few months ago my brother ( who is special needs) and I went in the store . My brother doesn't have good walking balance and he accidentally tripped over a box that an employee was putting up. My brother admittedly apologized to her. Employee then yells at my brother telling him that he always causes problem in the store. Which is far from the truth. He is very well behaved. On 8/15/22 at 8:25 (35 mins before close) I pulled into parking lot. A rude employee was outside yelling at me and 4 other customers saying they was closed. I let her know the sign says they close in 35 mins and she replied "I don't give a f*** if the sign said we close at midnight, we closed and u have to come back another day". Finally after arguing she let us in. After she let us in she was yelling saying she cant get her cleaning done due to us "F***king customers keep coming in."

They didn't have anything organic that I saw, and I looked through a lot of the store. This is a store for grocery basics, with some Southern and Mexican specialty items. For example, there are tons of fresh collard greens, and buckets of pork chitterlings in a cold case. Also, huge containers of yellow rice and a variety of crema/queso fresco, among other items I don't see in other local grocery stores. Not everything is a bargain but there are definitely worthy finds here, and you won't go home empty-handed. I got 8lbs of apples for $5 to feed the rescue animals at The Farm at Oatland North on SSI, and some cool flan- and churro-making boxed kits. Prices on these were great!
