Overall this is probably one of the nicest cleanest most organized dollar store I've ever been to. Will definitely be returning. :)

Great closeout/clearance items everything from shampoo to houseware items food, candy, snacks,…read moremiscellaneous, houseware items, closeout items, sports team products thermos cups you name it. You always find something great in the store for a very reasonable price. Dog snacks and toys. Found some great planter containers for .25 cents and a summer flavor Gatorade that was great for half of what other stores charge. I found these cheese puffs one time they were so good. I went back and got more a few days later. They also had these little small snack size bags of a pretzel snack that had a barbecue mustard flavor to it and those were so good. They're only $.25 a bag. I went back and got more of those as well but they don't last long once the items are cleared out they're gone. It's a clearance store.

I haven't been here in a couple years, mainly because am no longer in the area, but from well…read morebefore the turn of the century we patronized Continental so I know quite well how the store operates. We try to come once or twice a year now but when we lived in the area (a mile away), we'd go at least twice a week. Some things have changed over time but the essence of the store is still there - gobs of food and drink at often great prices, non-food items (all different kinds) at reasonable to excellent prices. We could buy cases of pop for literally a fraction of what you might pay elsewhere. You just kind of have to go in there and experience it for yourself. I have known a few of the workers, particularly Mark, for many years. He's long been a dedicated employee (if he's still there). You will find lots of food items past the expiration date but with very few exceptions I have found the quality inside to be just as though the expiration date was a long way off. Chips are one of those items. The savings are stark here compared to those in regular grocery stores if you don't mind taking a chance of consuming the item after the listed date. I never batted an eyelash. I don't know if they still have tax free Tuesdays or 77 cent Fridays but unless they have dramatically changed, this is truly a worthwhile store to go to for all bargains. The neighborhood has regretfully declined a bit in recent years and its crime elements are on the rise so if you can, try to patronize Continental during daylight hours (perhaps this is why it's a bit more challenging to find a parking spot in their lot during daytime). Hope to go back sometime in the near future. If you live out that way or are within a half hour drive, it's well worth the trip - last I checked.

I've been a customer for as long as the store has been open, i shop at DD's at least 2x a month…read more This afternoon I walked in w my parents and my sister found this beautiful wooden jewelry box that i loved it seemed to be a.2 piece set, as it had a second box wrapped and protected with foam pieces on the sides. The price was $14.99 which i considered amazing considering that not only was it a beautiful piece but it was a 2piece. When we got to the register the cashier/manager opens the jewelry box, takes out the box that was carefully nested on the inside, tears the wrapping on the box, I'm here thinking that he's probably removing a sensor but no, instead hesays these 2 items are priced individually. First of all they have at least 3-4 more of those exact jewelry boxes on the shelves with the same smaller wrapped box on the inside. Here he is being an Ahole saying want it or not? Of course i want it but as it was placed on the shelve as a 2 picece, not my fault they're not doing their job unpacking if the second box had not been fullt wrapped and protected with the foam pieces i would've been able to see that it was not a set but instead of this ahole asking for an apology for them fucking up he had a very arrogant, and rude attitude making seem as if it was my mistake that his staff didn't stock the items individually on the shelves.

My in-laws got me some free money to see "Ross!" Ok, I'm SO NOT cheating on my hubby. In fact, I…read morebelieve "Ross," in this case, "Ross Dress for Less," is virtually gender-less. February in a retail store is really a transitional month. Many discount places like RDFL wouldn't be fully-stocked since major markdowns just happened in January. Technically, this RDFL location is in the Village of Cicero. Their Yelp page needs some corrections on this. West end of "Little Village" is north of Cicero village limit. The beauty department is always atrocious in any RDFL location I've visited. Customers, please go easy on those bottles and try not to open them. Rosa J. and other innocent patrons don't want to experience the "Pandora's Box" effect. Yes, your actions may seem innocuous, yet consequences are going to huge and detrimental. Women's clothing wasn't doing too hot, either. That department apparently has been picked over. Their home department was semi-decent. I spotted the Chinese zodiac mugs. However, they were missing the ox and the tiger. With that being said, I had to pass at the this time due to the incompletion. My one (1) and a half stars were given to the store manager who was vigilant enough to notice the line to the cashier was getting uncontrollably long. He called in an additional cashier to help out. Thank you for your wise decision-making skills. The remainder of the stars went to the cashier who rang me up. Even though she didn't initially know how to process a Ross gift card, she didn't frenetically press the wrong keys and immediately ask for assistance. Well, she did attempt to figure this out on her own. At least she knew that wasting time would have a negative effect on their checkout efficiency. By the way, if you ever return an item that you purchased at RDFL, plan extra time since there's usually one (1) designated cash register open for this purpose, unless they get extremely busy. This RDFL location isn't really conveniently accessible via public transportation. I know 54B (South Cicero) and 35 (31st./35th.) have a stop at the corner of Cicero and 30th. There's no pedestrian traffic light and is kind of dangerous to cross the road.

IN PLAIN SIGHT…read more Although it's served the area for nearly a decade, this Family Dollar has been invisible on Yelp. You can find this bargain store on S Archer Ave just west of Austin, in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood of Chicago. I've had limited interactions with the Family Dollar chain of stores, but they seem pretty similar to Dollar Tree in terms of items & prices. This location is well-stocked and reasonably tidy, even though employees seem to be sleepwalking. The automatic entry door wasn't working, so I stood there for a moment wondering if the sensor was slow / broken, or if I should give it the ol' stiff arm treatment. Good selection of 99¢ birthday cards. They had a decent display of movies which caught my attention. I saw Christmas Vacation, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Hobbit trilogy, Despicable Me 3, and a couple other quality titles. They even had Twisters (the 2024 one) for $20, not something I'd expect to see here. I picked up Knives Out for $5, pretty happy about that. * TL;DR * Some cheap bastard has to blaze a trail, and it looks like that cheap bastard is me. First-to-review achievements are tough to come by these days, but sometimes I get lucky. The oldest Google review was dated 9 years ago, so it's surprising that this Family Dollar has been untouched on Yelp for so long (I can understand a handful of reviews, but a grand total of zero? Strange). This is a great place to buy $1 greeting cards, snacks, and office supplies. That's about all I'd come here for.
