This dollar tree closed in September 2024 due to rising rent. Locals and visitors all miss the convenience of this store.

Now this pains me to give Ollie's (one of my favorite places to find deals on food, household…read moreitems, books, and great DVD sets for cheap) a two star. I have been to this particular Ollie's 2-3 times now, and each time it seems to get worse and worse rather then better. Disappointing. :( Upon entry at this particular location at around 6:30 pm on a weekday, I found absolutely no front staff to assist me. I searched all register areas, hoping to find anyone possible in the restocking area towards the front as well....still no person to be found. I finally noticed one of the staff members come in from the outside to ask my question to of where a particular item was that I have always found prior at this store. However, she didn't seem to know what I was referencing, and finally I just had to give up on receiving any sort of "help" from staff all together. Doubly Disappointing to say the least. Overall, this store is the most unorganized poorly run Ollie's I have ever shopped at. I waited to write this review until I witnessed the same sort of disorganization every time I came to shop. Though I will say the young adult (male) who rang up my items had a good attitude and was able to check me out at the register pretty quickly. Where he was when I first came into the store I will never know. They must be seriously understaffed or possibly people are taking breaks all at the same time?! Lol. Whatever the case, I strongly believe corporate needs to step in and take the extra time and effort to do some much needed retraining and assistance to staff to they more fully know how to stay at their designated places at the front and the stocking staff needs to get on it so they can have the organization this store absolutely needs so we customers can more fully enjoy our shopping experience and see all the wonderful items Ollie's has to offer. If these steps are taken within this store, I believe it will ensure a stronger repeat customer base!

Approaching the checkout lane, the two ladies working, Sherrie (manager) and an associate walk AWAY from me...Sherrie, to the back/break room, associate turning her back away from me, removes her mask, wipes her face and nose with her ungloved hand, replaces them, then looks at me and says, "I am sorry, I couldn't help it. I was drenched." I said, " I really appreciate you wiping your spit, snot, sweat and everything else all over my sh*t and not using any hand sanitizer. I will make sure I wipe everything down when I get home!" Seriously, fffolkzz~ You can't make this stuff up! I am livid! You would think that the Governor mandated Covid-19 mask sign that is on the front door of the store would be of some significance. I guess not. With Covid-19 being as deadly a virus as it is, you would think the safety measures would be addressed better than it is and incorporated in the everyday running of this particular store. Corporate needs to look into this, they will see everything I am saying is true. Check the security footage. This store is a "training store"... what a joke. The staff acts so complacent. I guess this store 'trains' you as to how 'not' to 'act'!! If you use EBT, you are treated differently. I spend a lot of money at Dollar General. Be it EBT or $$...I get very upset when you tell the cashier that it is EBT and it takes three different "trys" because they have to reset the register three different times..after, a while..you kinda think it's NOT a coincidence! I am a very unhappy, local patron of this store. I will spend my money in Moyock, Camden, Elizabeth City, etc. The associates working in these stores are educated in the use of utilizing a cash register while being caring, friendly, helpful, acting with empathy to a pandemic that has affected everyone.
