We were not greeted by anyone when we came in. So we politely said "good morning" to a woman in the back corner. We said "how are you?" And she simply responded "good" with no return of courtesy. We spent a few minutes looking around so as to not seem rude, but left with little to no further interaction from the shop owner. Vast selection of art pieces from all 50 states. So if you like shops with large inventories, you might be able to overlook the questionable service. Disappointed and surprised because so many of the shop owners on Ocracoke are delightful and accommodating. We won't let one bad sunflower spoil the bunch.

For starters, the building is eye catching. It is a replica of a 1874 life saving station and it has an enchanting look to it. I can tell the gallery owners put a lot of time in thought into how to display the pieces so that they honor the work of the artists. As far as art goes, there is a lot of it here in all sorts of mediums - pottery, jewelry, mixed media, oil on canvas, woodworking, prints, etc. The selection is huge and there are pieces in all price ranges. You are bound to find something here to take home with you. Also - a part of the proceeds goes to support the Pea Island National Wildife Refuge - - cool beans! We bought a few items that were very sensitive (to breakage) and she willingly bubble wrapped them securely in a box so that it would be protected during our air flight back home. I highly recommend stopping to visit this oasis, it was a rainy day w/ overcast on this visit but the art and decor was so uplifting - it really brightened our day!

Loved their yarn bowls, pottery, and jewelry selection. My friend also bought a $50 bag of self-selected discount yarn. We came for the yarn- they have two full rooms dedicated to it, with some nice name brands and quality fibers, some hand dyed locally, others from as far away as Australia. Broad variety of weights, fibers, and colors, almost had everything I was looking for. One thing I might suggest adding to the inventory is some beach-themed drop spindles and some roving (spinning fiber), grown and dyed in NC. We visited twice in the one week of our stay. The guy at the register is somewhat brusque but he's a hoot. The woman in charge of the yarn room was very sweet and helpful. There are two big well behaved shop dogs, but I recommend leaving your own pets at home, they are probably not allowed. All in all, we had a great time shopping and will be back next year- maybe with some of our projects made from the yarns we bought.

It is climate control building. The house of the museum is belong to an US Coast Guard David Williams. This house originally build in different location and move to current location for preservation. The house was built around mid 18 century. There some item in the house interesting such as furnace, World War II records, old refrigerator, US Coast Guard model ship, navy uniform, quilts. The out side has some has some boat and ship wracked items. The visit to museum can be done in less than one hours.
