With a small section of fresh produce, some cookware, utensils, and a mix of everything from gloves to homeopathic goods. While this store is Amish run, they are not selling Amish goods. They buy in bulk, repackage in store, and sell at very reasonable prices. Let's take a tour of the store, outside is both paved and dirt parking, as well as a horse and buggy only zone. Walking in the front door is a selection of flyers with updates about local businesses and events. Once inside straight ahead is checkout, to the right is a plentiful heard of shopping carts. The first isle (starting at the right from the front of the store.) has a selection of fresh produce, apples, onions, and sweet potatoes are the everyday staples complimented with seasonal accompaniments. Down the isle are an assortment of snack goods, soup mixes and the like. Next is my favorite isle, the baking isle, it contains a lovely assortment, starting from the back there is a collection of oils, vanillas, and a few other extracts. Across the aisle is a selection of flours*, baking mixes, and meals. Next to the oils and extracts is a selection of chocolate, chips, marshmallows, and sweet baking ingredients. Next up is a selection of pudding and Jello mixes, and a great dark Coco powder. Across this wonderful isle is a large selection of spices, prices are great and a ton of variety. Also on the isle is a selection of baking conditioners: malted milk powder, buttermilk powder, and powdered milk, including whole milk powder. *Oh yeah about those flours, they sell semolina flour at a great, amazing price. They stock a fair amount of King Arthur flours in a variety of repackaged sizes, 5 and 10 lbs, with 50 lbs sacks up front beyond the registers. The next isles have a good selection of snacks: classic candies, nuts, chocolate covered this and that; oats: stone cut, regular, and quick; other breakfast goods: cold cereal, muffin and pancake/waffle mixes, etc. Last but not least there is a variety of corn syrups. The back wall has a selection of dry pasta, and the last isle has a mix of cookware, and little things. Up front before the registers is a random mix of clearance items, 50 lbs sacks of potatoes. On the front wall is a mix of 25 & 50 lbs sacks of flours and oats for $13-$20 for 50 lbs including King Arthur.

After I…read morehad that done I decided to quick pop into Pick n Save in Wautoma to get some quick groceries for the weekend since it will be just me for dinners I didn't need much. I realized I did not have my Pick N Save rewards card which I have had for probably 20 years. That's likely 3 or 4 telephone numbers ago. So I get to the check out and ask the clerk if she could swipe a reward card for me because I sadly did not have mine this morning and could not remember which stupid phone number I had when I signed up for one. She said no she would not do that. Mind you she had every coupon sitting there that was in the weekly ad for people who did not have the coupons but would not swipe a pick n save card. I miss small town grocery store customer service. That is all. That one swipe would have saved me $10.00. Not going to break the bank but would have shown they valued me as a customer, especially since their competition Stoneridge left town. After checking out the bagger handed me the form to fill out for a rewards card to which I politely said I do not need that. I have one. I just did not have it with me today unfortunately People will pay a little more to shop at small businesses (not sure P&S qualifies as a small business but compared to Walmart I think it might). I will every time. But not if the customer service is equal to that of the big box stores or Amazon. I may as well save the money by going there.

The produce they have might be limited but it's always top-notch! Liquor aisle is very good as are the baked goods they carry. We love Charlie's and will always tank up our car and boat there as well. Supporting local small business is the way to go!

This happened. Anyplace you can buy gas, toothbrushes, candy, toy cars and monkey butt is a winner…read more (I didn't buy the monkey butt- I laughed REALLY hard). It all started when the three year old child of my friends asked me about the "Chuck Store" Moi: "What is a 'Truck Store'?" Kid: "CHUCK, it is the bestest store ever in the whole world with candy!" Moi: "Do they have a toothbrush? He forgot to pack a toothbrush..." Kid: "Duh. They have EVERYTHING, and candy too." Indeed. Naturally, I had to see this marvel. And the kid tells no lies- this is part gas station, part old-timey general store, part hardware store, gardening center, liquor store, candy emporium and drugstore- that is a whole lotta hats, but the lady working the counter was clearly a pro able to direct me to candy and toothbrushes with ease. For the kid, a combo of monster truck toy car and lolly pop that took two days of effort to eat ($1.29, pictured with all it's awesome glory). That car is miraculously still intact. Have you played with a three year old? I'm surprised I am intact, kid is relentless and makes my hyperactive energy look tame. Awesome. For me to keep up, a Starbucks double shot chugged at light-speed and the priceless shot of Lady Monkeybutt- which I cannot believe is a real product and had me laughing hysterically as much as the three year old. Maybe more. I didn't know places like this existed anymore, but am glad they do.

The boyfriend and I really miss our ghetto Mexican joint in Memphis, so when a friend and I were in…read moreWautoma, we asked for a recommendation for lunch and ended up here, described as "better food and cheaper too" than the alternative. GPS took us several blocks down the street, and one side of the place appears to be a grocery store (we didn't go in there) and the other side is the restaurant. There were actually people there at 3pm on a Monday, and we were waved in to seat ourselves. Now, this is a classic dumpy, sketchy-looking joint. Reasonably clean, but don't think too hard about any of it, and I wouldn't recommend using the restroom (I did not). Our server spoke some English, though I had to ask her to repeat herself most of the time (I'll take half the blame on that one). Overall, service was ok -- we weren't spectacularly ignored, but I wouldn't call it great either. The menu is HUGE. They have all kinds of food, including burgers and even breakfast (!), with the authentic Mexican stuff in the back. Having eaten at these kinds of places before, I went for the shrimp cocktail de Cameron, which is essentially a cold red soup with onions, cilantro, avocado, and the like, with cooked shrimp. It was a bit sloppily served (wiping off the edges would have been nice), but boy was it tasty! I could have been back in my Memphis restaurant. My friend ordered a chimichanga (pork, I believe), which was also delicious. However, the provided chips and salsa were, uh, not great. I'd pass on those next time. Important safety tip, they only take cash, though I believe they have an ATM. Lunch for the two of us, including a fountain soda (she offered me a choice of fountain or can) ran just $18 and we were stuffed. If I'm ever up in this neck of the woods again, or in the mood for some authentic Mexican and a drive, I will totally be back with the boyfriend.
