The business is locally owned and operated and the store is neat, clean and organized. Shelves are generally well stocked and employees are super friendly and helpful. Product quality is very good and the prices are very reasonable. This freestanding store has its own private parking lot which is clean and free of debris. The large lot surround three sides of the building and is more than adequate for the business. The store is located on the corner of Market Avenue NE and Sunnyside Street SW in Hartville. There are two access points from Sunnyside Street so getting in our out of the property is easy and convenient. I moved away from this area many years ago but when I come back I appreciate being able to find so many of the local products I love at Sommers Discount Market.

The customer walks through sliding glass doors and sees an array of sorted furniture from chairs to coffee tables to couches & dressers. You will also find books, kitchenware, home restoration tools, new paints and various furnishings to bring your home or organization back to life. When the customer finds piece of furniture they like, simply bring the tag attached to the piece to the front counter for a quick & easy checkout experience. The friendly worker will give you two copies of the hols slip: one to place on the piece of furniture and the other to take with you to the pick up area. To get to the pick up area, drive your vehicle around to the back side of the building where friendly staff will assist in loading your new to you furniture into your vehicle.

Very little wood, and kind of on the pricey side anyhow. There is an entire huge room filled with random crap on shelves that you must sort through. It kind of reminds me of Bin Treasures, if Bin Treasures only sold electric drills without battery packs. There's .. a lot of those here. Seriously, what am I supposed to do with an electric drill that doesn't include batteries? Nothing! That's what! I think they also sell furniture or whatever. I'm not saying it isn't worth going to, just temper your expectations. This isn't the Akron Restore we're talking about.

I will say that their plants and pumpkins during those times of the years are a bit overpriced but their mum's in the fall are really pretty. We do try to avoid coming during peak hours because it can get very crowded, very easily. I'd actually love to see them get a bigger building so that shopping was a bit easier for customers.

Not sure if it was candles, or some other product, but it was very strong. I think it was a cinnamon scent, but both my husband and I noticed it immediately on entry, and within a minute or two, my throat was scratchy and felt tight. Someone with breathing issues or asthma would have a serious problem here. We had to leave. It's too bad, there seemed to be nice items to look at, and we like supporting locally owned businesses.

Last weekend we took a Saturday morning trip to the Hartville Marketplace & Flea Market, and it…read moreturned out to be such a fun outing! When you first pull in, you're greeted by the huge marketplace sign, and right on the corner is the garden center--complete with the famous Bigfoot that everyone seems to stop and pose with. I was surprised to learn that vendors can rent a 10x10 outdoor space for just $22 a day. The catch is you reserve the same day each week for four weeks in advance, since the flea market is only open four days a week. $27.00 under the pavilion but there's a waiting list. Before we started shopping, we stopped at Sarah's Grill for lunch. Their burgers were delicious--fresh tomato, crisp lettuce, sweet onion... definitely worth the stop! Then came my favorite find of the day... strawberries! They were advertised at $5 a flat. When I picked one up, I noticed a few moldy berries underneath. The vendor immediately smiled and offered them to me for $4 a flat instead. Sold! I brought home two flats, which worked out to about 16 quarts of strawberries. Of course, I couldn't leave without grabbing a bag of fresh kettle corn--that's become one of my favorite flea market traditions! Like any flea market, there was a little bit of everything--the good, the bad, and the ugly. Some booths looked freshly stocked, while others looked like they hadn't changed in weeks. But that's part of the adventure. You never know what treasure you'll stumble across. When we got home, I immediately flash-froze most of the strawberries, and the rest became homemade freezer jam. All in all, it was a wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning--good food, great bargains, and a freezer full of summer to enjoy later. Have you ever been to the Hartville Marketplace? This is the Marathon gas station in the middle of nowhere, a tiny NY town East of Buffalo, on the road into Akron, and the gas here is sometimes actually pretty cheap, to the extent that we got really cheap gas when we were here.
