It's one of the only department stores, besides Bealls, TJMaxx, BelkLindsey, Dillards, that's worth shopping at in Polk County or at least in the Winter Haven Lake Wales area. There's no variety of the old fashioned department store feel, stores that are classy, fun, unique, except driving to Posner Park, or worse Tampa/Orlando, but same cookie cutter types, or one called Ollies...good choice for bargains...The Eagle Ridge Mall needs an overhaul or to be condemned. But still this area needs more stores. Wal*Nutz, Target don't cut it... the culture and clientele that shop there eventually trash it and act ghetto ... it's despicable...crime centers especially Wal*Nutz...Bring back Penny's, Macys. Kohls is a great store, and remember, if you've never worked. Retail don't slam it as far as the esthetics in the store or how it looks on the beginning or at the end of the day, those workers work hard, it's some of the clientele that go into these stores and destroy it. There was quite a bit to look at but the aisles are narrow so you have to watch your step. Out back they sell plants. I found a small trinket box in my grandmother's China pattern. While paying I received 20 percent off and the offer of coffee and a slice of carrot cake from the sweet ladies ringing me up. I was delighted them up on their generosity. What I like about Famous Tate is that it is small enough to not wander around like you would in Lowe's or Home Depot. My sales person is Napoleon, but Bob is great too and has helped out my parents. They give you time to look at stuff. There is no high pressure tactics, but when you have questions they are right there to answer them rather than waiting while they call someone over the intercom. Due the pandemic, many items have been out of stock due to supply chain issues. I walked in, told Napoleon what I wanted and he walked me right to the ones that were available. I didn't have to wait for him to pour through a computer to say, yes we have this, no we don't. Delivery is fast and convenient. They will even haul away your old stuff which is great. They go above and beyond for customer satisfaction. I bought something from them 2 years ago and it broke. It had a manufacturers warranty so I called them up and they were easily able to find my receipt and email it to me so I could send it to the manufacturer who then promptly fixed my item. Overall, a great and personal shopping experience.
