Last year I went to the store as well and purchased at least $700 in gifts, same with this year. I just have to tell you that Heather the manager has always been helpful. She has the girls go to the back and look for items I need for the gifts and opens up an extra register so all the items could be rang up and not to hold up any other customers. Today Jene helped me out with getting the items that I needed. She went through lots of boxes to find the small dolls, accessories for the dolls, toothbrushes, nylon backpacks. Alice help me as well bringing up the items and helping me carry stuff to the car. They all took turns helping me out. I cannot say enough, how helpful these ladies are and kind. They do it with a smile and with a lot of patience. I go to at least three difffernt dollar tree stores because it's a lot of different items that I need. The South Tamiami Trail store is my favorite, mostly because everyone is so great. I'm taking time out of my busy schedule to write this review because I feel everyone should know and management what good employees work at the store.

As a chain, it's a neat concept. This isn't a dollar store that has things way over a dollar, everything here truly is $5 or less. I really like that this is the only discount chain, that I am aware of, that has fitness items. Yoga mats, balance boards, hand weights and many of the apparel and accessories that go with it. That's neat and it's a cheap way to try out a new activity without dropping a lot of cash in case you hate it. They even have skateboards there! Every time I've gone into a location, I've badly wanted to buy the squares to build your own fitness floor. I have no idea why, I wouldn't use it, but I want it, lol. I see this chain as a healthy mix of a place to get last minute items you forgot about (phone chargers, birthday cards, Tupperware, games to keep the kids busy) and a place that gives you ideas on things you didn't realize you needed (lots of storage options, home décor, nifty gadgets like lights for dark corners, a variety of travel accessories). Now, how does this location stack up? Well, less shelves are full of merchandise here. Our visit was on a weekday morning, so that might have been a one off, but as I was looking for something I had previously purchased at another location, it really caught my attention. However, the staff here was really friendly and funny at the register, which is more engagement than I encounter at other locations, so they balance out for my overall Five Below expected experience. It's a cool place to check out, especially if you are visiting Sarasota and realized you forgot small items back home. This way you can get the items you need and have plenty left to act like a tourist (for me that means: try more food)!

The prices here start higher at $12, other places it started at $6 and went down to 25 cents.. but here lowest day at hot bins is $2 which I'm sorry but most of what is left on $2 is hardly worth that. It's mostly Amazon returns not much of other stores like target, Kohl's, or Costco. I think they need to tweak their pricing and system. I know other places like this do membership annual $50 and then $5 per start day to give you a number in spot for entry in the morning on $12 day, that would create revenue for them and allow them to keep better prices items at the actual HOT BIN price instead of being sold on the side of the store for $25-50 etc. it's about the thrill of the find because let's be honest we don't need any of this stuff. I think items are picked over here and some stuff is $15 new on Amazon so it's just not worth the value of $12.. opening box thing also sucks, their employees should take some of that crap out of the boxes and make a more efficient shopping experience. This location is much bigger than the one closer to my house, and much safer. Clearwater and Tampa's location are opening next weekend May 21st. They took over many of the Big Lots stores.

Rave: do NOT leave the store with one of the new blueberry handpies. This is probably the best handpie I've ever had. I popped it in the airfryer and it came out so flaky and gooey. Not insanely sweet either. Wish I bought more of them. Ate it too quickly to get a photo so I looked one up, it's wrapped in parchment paper and in a basket next to the donuts.

I keep going back again and again, hoping to find some sales or something within my price range…read more(like they used to). I love what they do, but this is certainly not thrift store prices. I can absolutely buy most of the items brand new for the same price or less. I'm hesitant to write a review but I am unable to give them feedback on their Facebook page and feel they need to hear from typical shoppers that they are pricing out a great percentage of their potential patrons. I do know they have sales for specific color tags, but those are very few and far between. Even then, a 50 or 75% off price is what the item should have originally been marked for.
