I stop here whenever my wife has an appointment at Methodist Hospital. It's only a mile away…read more I come to Ollie's for their books. I am an avid reader and no one can beat their prices if you find a book; which I always do. This location cares for their book section unlike most other Ollie's. Today I bought two hardcover books for $10!!! I will start reading as I wait for my wife. I definitely will be back!!

Having spent so much time in NYC over the years, I've rarely been privy (#1) to retail chains like…read moreOllie's, which is ginormous compared to all discount stores (#2) I've ever seen in my life. A "bargain outlet" with 500+ locations across 3 dozen states, they have massive inventory that covers everything from mattresses to children's books. If Costco and Dollar Tree had a baby, it would be named Ollie's. I hate to generalize by saying they have everything, but it's really hard to suggest that they don't. There's appliances, apparel, sporting equipment, toiletries, electronics, office supplies, storage supplies, shoes, sporting gear, pet supplies, home decor, etc. It's really easy to get lost in everything they have. However, calling in might be an issue as their customer service is very spotty at best. The website isn't the most reliable in confirming inventory, so perusing in person is usually ideal. At the end of the day, affordable stuff that doesn't feel cheap even when it is. More importantly, I've scored some impressive deals and almost everything was of good-to-great quality. "Good stuff cheap" happens to be their slogan and is a motto I can certainly live by whenever I shop here. ____________ (#1) aka "missing out" (#2) Most of the country has Dollar Tree. NYC has Chinese-owned 99 cent stores. My photos: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/ollies-bargain-outlet-katy?userid=ysCBsXWPB-LAiewVS3jZfQ

I think the owner caught a catchy name, Alibaba Liquidation. No kidding. They sell imports from…read moreChina I'm huge quantities. They don't have display cases, but huge boxes of merchandise as seen on Amazon (not TV). I don't think it's related to the internationally known e-commerce website. Alibaba is also the main character from the famous Arabian folk tale. Any ways, as I was saying, don't think all products from China look cheap. They're seriously made for high end consumers. Like cell phone accessories brand LeYi. I never knew this brand until I bought a cell phone case from Amazon. They got unique design and functionality. Yesterday July 31 was their first day. I arrived around 3 pm. They were busy unloading and setting up the shop. There were few customers. Employees greeted everyone as we came in. Prices are still handwritten on the crates. I saw $1, $2, $3, $4, $5... But I saw nice stuff in the crates. Oh, they take cash and credit cards. I wasn't planning to stay long because I could overspend for trinkets. Some items can become customized gifts for businesses. I'll be back when we can safely meet in person. Because I will buy a bunch of stuff for my meetup giveaways. **Updated after my second visit and chatted with co-owner Jason** They have plan to expend this operation to 10 stores in Houston. I think it's a great concept. I wish them luck and I will be back every month to see new products.

As someone who is constantly in search of a bargain, it's hard for me not to like ... no, love…read moreOllie's. I've been used to discount stores as 99 cent stores in NY or the Dollar Trees of suburbia, but Ollie's certainly tops them all with space and inventory. This is no Goodwill / Salvation Army type of a store -- most everything is new. Their slogan of "good stuff cheap" couldn't be a more accurate way to describe the place. Since the inventory is under constant change, I'm finding that everything changes every few weeks. This is a really easy store to just randomly peruse in search of something heavily marked off. In addition the store is clean, the bathrooms are solid, and generally everything is easy to find. I personally love their office supplies section, as I'm always able to score pens, markers, notebooks, and other various things. I also love that they have massively large rugs and have an incredible selection of toys, books, and other gift worthy inclusions. Service has always been pretty good with me. I rarely see large crowds in here and even if there is a small line, it's dealt with very quickly. I am already looking forward to my next visit back.

I learned the hard way that not everything is a bargain, and I'm personally still learning what is what, but it's easier to go right than go wrong here. I was personally surprised to find name brand household items and other assorted items like toasters and coffee makers for affordable prices so if you plan to visit, my advice is- compare pricing. Don't go for the beach towels, but do stock up on blankets. Happy hunting!
