One time there was a small mis-hap with the way my groceries were packed last week. I called to inform them, not really to complain. They had a new person learning how to do it. Anyway they gave me a $20 coupon for my next visit. The website for ordering is not bad; it is daunting at first but once you have your regular items sorted out it's a breeze to create the next order. They also have a pretty good selection of organic, vegan, and dairy-free items.

When jack got his baked goods and looked around to find bob (the tortoise) he went into a panic and started taking his trousers off and shouting at the top of his lungs about contemporary politics. Why 4 stars? * On quite a few occasions, I'll get home to glance at the receipt and find the price of the item rung up didn't match the display price (never in my favor). I'm careful now to confirm this during the checkout process but it's not ideal. They are great to correct it when I've mentioned it. * The self checkout system is the worst I've seen yet - very slow and requires constant staff monitoring because of all the extra confirmations needed. I avoid it and usually just look for a normal checkout with a human. * Some conventional items are way more expensive than typical larger grocery stores (toilet paper, dish detergent, and paper towels, for example). Because of that, I save these items for the occasional large grocery store trip.

Outside blends in with the town but don't judge this grocer with its cover. They have little of everything and comparable to and at higher quality than WFM. This isn't fancy but authentic goodness! Buffalo Mountain Food-coop has a cafe upstairs but wasn't open due to Covid when we visited. BMFC was busy and had a steady flow of locals and peeps traveling through. Staff are friendly and helpful!! This is one of the few places that wasn't understaffed in VT this season. Prices are a little higher as it's customary in VT. Many local producers' goods seem to be in line with other coop prices but the packaged were slightly higher likely due to logistics and volume. Parking is street and free. Hardwick wasn't busy but parking was tight. If you visit the NE Kingdom, Buffalo Mountain Food Coop is a very good place to find sundries and nourishment.
