We joked about the health options in a little town like Jesup, where much of the diet is probably fried or smothered in meat fat. Then I saw a sign, no really, a sign for a natural food store. With no knowledge of the town and little cellular service, I figured I'd have to miss out on an opportunity of this sacred place. Lucky, a little bit of bad directions bumped us right into Garden of Eat'n, a natural food store right off the railroad tracks in Jesup, Ga. I was in need of tea tree oil, and Walmart did not have it, but of course Garden of Eat'n had 10 different types! One of the managers was very helpful in pointing us to the tea tree oil and offering other uses for the natural oil. I also grabbed some Jason deodorant and Tom's toothpaste. Everything was reasonably priced. There were organically grown produce, about six freezers full of whole food items, a wall of Fort Negrita-esque periodicals and a few mini isles of non-perishable natural foods. I'd like to think of it as a quickie mart for green-life lovers. The store is humble in style and atmosphere, and you can't beat a local grocery store. If you are ever randomly in Jesup or northeastern Georgia and you need a veggie burger or a fair trade coffee, visit Garden of Eat'n. Get more about green living www.fortnegrita.com

And the bank with the credit card was 10% off at Ollie's on top of that. Well, I gave in to that. This is great! It is about half no name fake brand cheaper things that are knock offs (but not store brands like a Big Lots would have) and about half 2nd run name brands. I got Star Wars and Spiderman limited edition Pyrex refrigerator dishes, for just a scootch less than Goodwill would charge for them used. Those were clearanced on Amazon and the Pyrex website about 3 years ago, but here they are, resurfaced with racks and racks of them at Ollie's. They had all these comic books that came out around 2012-2015, and are about the age to get remaindered and past being clearanced at a bookstore. This location has tons of books. Pricing was all over the place for the books. The comic books were anywhere from $2 each to $8 each. (Most were $4.). The kids books were super randomly priced. Ones with retail value of $20 might be $2 at Ollie's, while ones with $8 retail value might be $4 at Ollie's. I used to resell books and the pricing was not related to retail pricing at all. There are bad deals here and there are awesome deals here. Good place for a last minute kids gift, because books are not as messy and cluttery as toys, so that is what I always give. I came for flower pots, in June (ie. in season). I was not disappointed. They have a bunch of ceramic flower pots ranging. A 5 gallon is around $20. Really big huge ones in dark blue (maybe 27 inches tall and more than 15 gallon) were $50 each. Last year, I went crazy at Lowes when ceramic pots were 66% to 80% off, and Ollie's on customer appreciation weekend was actually about like 60% off at Lowes for some of these. (With the discount, Ollie's flower pots are like 30% to 60% off Lowes ceramic flower pot prices; are like clearance at Costco; and are way lower than at Big Lots.) Probably a good place to check out for cute gardening stuff.

The store has a huge variety of items from household goods to books, snacks, and random finds you wouldn't expect. It definitely feels like one of those places where you have to take your time and dig a little to find the best deals. Prices seemed really good overall, and I can see why people enjoy shopping here, especially if you're looking to save money or just like bargain hunting. Even though we left empty-handed this time, I'd come back and give it another shot!

My original plan was to look at their book selection but when I walked in I decide to do a full lap around the entire store. Ollie's is pretty large, think mini warehouse. It reminds me of Big Lots but more organized and on a bigger scale. Home goods, decor, books, beauty products and food. You can find plenty of deals here. I only purchased a few word search books as their overall book selection was not impressive. There were 2 cashiers working and they moved very quickly. The lady that checked me out greeted me as I walked up and even gave me the price of an item that didn't have a sticker to make sure I was willing to pay that amount. Overall, Ollie's seems like a good place if you're into bargain shopping. I would definitely come back for their decor and home goods. Hopefully in the future their book selection gets a little better.
