While shopping at the DuBois Mall, I stopped in at Bradley's Book Outlet which also has several…read morelocations in Western PA and Youngstown OH (Southern Park Mall). This store carries new current books and magazines, and plenty of publisher overstocks and remainders at 40%-60%-80% & more off, plus 20%-30% off current New York Times paperback & hardcover bestsellers, 15% off all special orders and 10% off all hardcover new releases. They also stock Melissa & Doug items in the back of the store with infant & toddler books. There are $1 books and special items too. I spent a good amount of time at this Bradley's Book Outlet browsing through the various travel books (some a few years old) which were all deeply discounted. There were several Europe and Florida travel guides on the shelf and they also stock discounted "For Dummies" business books too. I picked up a few travel journal books for light reading, which were less than $5 each. I also purchased an Urban Dictionary and a Roadside Americana book for under $10. I would keep returning to this Bradley's Books and their other locations to browse the changing selection of discounted books. You'll never know what you'll find here!

This spot has registers at the main entrance of the store and at the mall entrance. So whether you plan on shopping more in the mall or just leaving afterwards that makes it easy on you.

Lord, if a business could get a five star review for the drama taking place outside of the…read morebusiness, this Sheetz would be soaring high. I mean, a gas station in a Rust Belt area of a downtown that hasn't bounced back yet, bit of a stereotype, but kind of spot on. We were heading north on Route 219 and needed to stop to use the facilities. Last time I was through this area, this location was in the midst of a rebuild. Kind of glad they did, it feels bigger, and at the same time felt a bit crowded...I'll tell you why. When we pulled into the lot we spotted a parking spot right near the door and was about to pull in. That is until the drama unfolded. We were literally in the middle of pulling into the spot when a shirtless man appeared in the spot. He was closely followed by a fully clothed man. There was much shouting, a lot of posturing, in your face screaming, threats of bodily harm to one another. All while we idled right in front of them. That is until I told my brother to move to another spot. We backed out, headed to the other side of the store. As we headed that way I saw they had moved out of the spot and into the throughway of the lot. I also noticed that a guy was kind of trapped in his car waiting for them to move along so he could get out and go in the store. As we walked to the door, you could still hear the yelling and threats. Inside, we used the facilities and browsed a bit. I picked up a drink from the cooler and a snack from the aisles. On my way up to the self checkouts the one guy in the outside drama came back in. In a gloating manner he says that the other guy wouldn't lay a finger on him so he couldn't do anything. Not sure who he was saying this to. Maybe it was to someone in the store, maybe it was to the staff who more than likely had to deal with the other man, or maybe it was to no one in general. One thing I can tell you, it wasn't said to me. For what should have been a quick stop on are trek north, it turned into an entertaining stop. Not that we wanted or needed that, but it was a welcomed thing to witness. What made it funny was that no one local batted an eye at the incident, like it was a constant occurrence.

This Aldi's location is very much laid out like the one I shop at in RI. Fresh produce is right…read moreinside the door, dairy along the back wall, frozen food along the far wall. Plenty of snack items, pre-made foods, cereals, eggs, milk, meats, cheese, frozen foods, ice cream, water, juice, spices, coffee, etc. It's all here. I personally am not a fan of their brand of bread products - a bit dry, but their chocolate and ice cream - good stuff. I also like their seasonal buys. In winter it may be a blanket, stuffed animal or space heater. in summer it could be a fire pit, lantern or sprinkler toy. What ever it is, when it's gone, it's gone and you probably won't see it again, so check the flyer. The prices at Aldi are usually good. I always try to be aware of what an item generally costs, so I know if I'm getting a good deal. Store brand items are less money, but they also have national brands too. Some of the store brand items, like cheeses and jaffa cakes, are very tasty. Don't be afraid to try them. The Aldi's near me requires you put a quarter in the grocery cart to 'unlock' it. I keep a quarter in my car for this purpose. When you return the cart you get the same quarter back. It's all about saving you money, and if they are not paying someone to gather your carts from the parking lot, that means their overhead is less, and your costs are less. There are also no baggers, and no bags. You can purchase bags from the cashier if you'd like or bring your own. S/he will scan your groceries, and put them back into your cart. Once you pay, there is a shelf along the back wall where you can bag your own groceries, or just dump them into your trunk. Whatever. This may all seem very strange but these small differences are what allows the store the keep prices low. I haven't seen a 'self check out' at any Aldi's I've been to, and didn't notice if this one has one, but I don't think they offer this option. There are usually a couple of workers on the floor if you need help finding something. The store is well lit and clean, aisles are very wide and clearly labled. If you have't stopped in, give it a look. I recommend trying the ice cream.
