This is an, um, interesting grocery store. It looks like it is in a time warp, like it was some…read moreother grocery store 30 years ago and Food Depot bought it and kept the decor and everything else the same. So it has a retro feel to it. The prices are pretty decent. They charge you a low price but add 10% to your overall receipt. Not sure what the reasoning is behind this, but even with the 10% added, the prices are still pretty low. The "departments" (i.e. produce, meat, etc) are skimpy. but if you go to stock up on pantry staples, you'll get a decent deal, especially on canned goods.

I greeted the lady and had no response from her at all. I didn't have my ingles card so I put in my phone number. She said it didn't work. I tried 2 more times with my number thinking I put it In incorrectly. Each time she said it didn't go through. I asked if she had a card that I can use because I have never had this problem. She said you can't use your number you have to use your card. She continued to check me out, by this time I accepted that I wouldn't get any discount. When she was done checking me out she yelled to the lady at the desk can you run a number for me? I thought she was maybe trying to check my number and then she did ask me for my number. I gave it to me and then she left her register to check my number. She came back with a number and told me you need to enter this. I said OK and I entered the number and I said i did it. I asked if it worked? she didn't answer me and I said oh yeah, it did work I see. I paid for my groceries and told her I hope she has a good day and I'm sorry that I inconvenienced her. She didn't tell me goodbye she didn't say thank you she didn't say no problem. I am not one to complain, but I've never ever been so upset for being treated so rudely when I am going to a store to purchase items from that store. I went directly to the manager, Rico . Rico listened to my story and he told me that that is not how they treat their customers and I told him that is how the lady on register eight treats your customers. He did tell me that he would talk to her. I prefer a Shopping in Ingles and have shopped at Ingles for 40 years . I have shopped at Publix in Kroger, but my main grocery store is a Ingles. This particular Aldi store just went through a renovation and I had my first walk-through just the other night. I was surprised to feel like it was a more authentic supermarket experience. If you've been to an all day before you probably know it just feels more like a warehouse than a Publix or Kroger per se. With the renovations they now have big produce a soon as you walk in. Awesome sauce! I actually started shopping at Aldi when I started the whole 30 program a couple years ago and Aldi is far and above the best place to buy produce. Their prices are awesome and with this new renovation they paired it with more offerings of organic produce. Woohoo! I didn't notice a major difference with snack offerings as far as crackers cookies trail mix etc. but I will say I noticed an increased amount of their elevation protein and fiber bars as well as gluten free product lines that they offer. I also noticed a lot more refrigerator space and milk alternatives such as soy milk and almond milk. On this particular evening I was just doing a quick run in for a few things, but I was excited to check out the new space. One of the things I was running in for was wine. I will tell you that they definitely upped their game here as well. I got a seven dollar bottle of a red blend from Paso Robles and it was pretty darn delicious if I do say so myself. I also noticed an end cap with six packs of beer. I haven't ventured into the beer product line yet but am tempted to give them a try! At the end of the day I always love going into Aldi because I walk out with a long receipt and a small balance. Can I get all of my grocery list at Aldi? No. But I can get most of it and save myself a good amount of money. That's a win for me!

Because it was my daughter's first birthday, we also received a free smash cake. What a win! Other Publix locations have caused confusion in the past with either not having the order ready or having the wrong name on the cake, and the list goes on, so I was prepared for something to be off. However, despite the busy time, the day before the Thanksgiving holiday, this bakery was organized and had all the information accurate. We were in and out. This location is really clean. Very nice and pretty huge. Parking was plentiful as well. Thank you for allowing us to get things kicked off without a hitch. Last thing, the cake was decently priced and nicely decorated. While we were there, we picked up this delicious caramel pecan praline cake as well.

I was so excited to spot a soup option and completed my option to come back and grab my soup, so it would be hot. To my dismay, there was a burnt thin layer of soup in the container. The salad bar was completely cleared for the day. The fresh chicken and sides was completely empty and few leftovers placed in the warming area. The fresh Asian bowls were apparently done for the day too. This was all around 5pm on a weeknight. Yes, this Publix was super clean and employees were nice. It was just such a disappointment at a normal hour not being able to enjoy those options. Next, no silverware near the deli area which meant I ate my deli Mac n cheese with chopsticks that night as I was staying at a nearby hotel. This Publix has tons of potential and I hope it was an off day for them.
