Big fan of this store!…read more Now that I am a pensioner, stretching my dollar is vital to my budget. Before retirement, I had never considered going here. I guess my preconceived notions of what it might or might not be caused me to overlook this hidden gem. This store has a little bit of everything from groceries to housewares to games to party favors to cards to seasonal items -- just about everything you might want or need at only $1 each. I send a ton of cards: birthday, sympathy, thank you, contratulations, etc. At a regular store, even Walmart, five cards can bust your budget. Not so here. The cards are not castaways. They are Hallmark and other name brand cards, the likes of which would be found in other stores, BUT ... they are only $1 apiece. The employees here are friendly and helpful, the store has always been neatly blocked and stocked. The seasonal items are especially cool to look through (I got some cool Santa ornaments for only $1) Did I say "only $1"? You betcha. Try this out and you'll be hooked.

Gas is my biggest expense with traveling and I'm always looking for ways to shave off some cost…read more Costco does a pretty good job most of the time as the gas prices are subsidized by the Costco membership. As well, they run their gas stations pretty thin. There aren't squeegees or car washes or even air pumps at the fueling area. They only have two flavors of fuel - regular and premium. No diesel at this location. It was easy to queue up, fill up and be on my way saving a bit in the process. Note that unless you've got a big vehicle, you can use the pump on either side of your car! The hoses will stretch. We did not go into the warehouse today and I know that if I add the gas station to Yelp, even though they have different hours, Yelp will merge them. So here we are. It was my first time to Ollies and I was super excited. Started to fill my cart up, feeling the Christmas shopping bug and holiday spirit. Then I get to the rug section to look at a few rugs. A lady a few feet away from me kindly asked the young employee if he could help her look at a rug because it was under a pile. He looked at her like she asked him to dig to China on his day off, then he marched over and said, which one? I'll jut let you imagine his tone of voice. She showed him the rug and this is when I couldn't look away. He said, and I will quote almost exactly, " That is an ugly rug. You want that one, you actually like it? She said, "Well, I like the rug. He said, Whatever you want, but that's an extremely ugly rug. I couldn't help myself, so I had to ask if they knew each other. She said no. Shocked, I said, "If you were my son, I would give you a piece of my mind, you should never speak to a customer that way. A few men that were walking near me popped up and agreed with me. What a bitter miserable human being to want to speak to another person that way. He just smirked at us. I had to walk away because it was too crazy to confront any further. I said my piece. I was told there were no managers to speak with, so I am here. It's a shame, because I believe in giving businesses a chance to resolve issues on their own before going to the internet, but they don't care. I was super nice on the phone and told them I just need to make Ollies aware of the situation so that they could speak with the employee about his behavior or maybe he need to go home and sleep his anger off. Someone needs to have an adult conversation with that kid. Either that or he is trying to get fired or in a confrontation. I was born and raised in East Tennessee. People don't treat each other that way around here. That is what makes Knoxville so special. Okay, I have said my piece and hopefully Ollies brings up ethics and the importance of kindness in one of their meetings. It's the holidays people! P.S. I put back all the things that were in my cart and left. I will never be back. Zero stars
