ALTHOUGH, last time I went in there I was sorely disappointed and the meat department. I don't know if it was incompetence or laziness.....I asked to have a 5lbs bottom round sliced at 1/4 inch for jerky. The guy asked if he could do that to another employee and I explained (I shouldn't have to) that I've had it done before. This is the butcher area of the meat department......a lady walked up and tells me it will take forever to get done . I said "to slice a 5lbs bottom round?" She said "ya, you usually need to call in a day before to have something like this done so we have time." Absolutely mind blown . It's take 3-4 minutes tops to slice one. Mind you, this is after I explained I've had it done multiple times. I just laughed and left. I didn't even trust them to slice it at this point. She told me it would take approximately 1 hour to accomplish lol. I left and had it down somewhere else in under 10 minutes. While this place is usually just OKAY, I was left with a bad taste in my mouth after this interaction. Obviously I'll still go back for some things, but I'll be avoiding this meat department. I would rather pay a little more somewhere else than deal with that type of service again.

It's located right off hwy 21 in Desoto, so it's easy to find. When I arrived I was looking for a dusk to dawn light, that honestly I wasn't sure if they would have. As I was walking around looking a bit puzzled, I was approached and guided to the proper area to find what I needed. It seems that whatever I need, even as odd as it can be they seem to have it and this location always has a very friendly staff.

As for service - it's hit or miss. I find the folks there to assist with loading, etc., to be very helpful and willing. I find the management to also be willing to help resolve issues, find stock, order things, etc. However, I've generally found the cashier folks to be somewhat less than helpful and often don't seem very well trained. I've had one tell me I couldn't order something off an upcoming truck when I know for a fact I can because I have. As for price - I think this place is pretty competitive. Their base 11 and 12% feed is priced great and is cleaner than most at that price. Their name brand feed and bagged alfalfa is also reasonable. I also found their heated water buckets to be FAR cheaper (for the same model) than on Amazon. Their bulk bird seed is also reasonable and great quality. Lots of selection - We've bought horse feed, chicken feed, dog and cat food, combo panels, Priefert gates, nuts, bolts, dog kennel panels, electric fencing parts, horse halters, lead ropes, tools, work gloves and much more here. They have just about everything you need around the farm. If you're in the area, I'd say stop by and have a look around! Oh, and they also sell clothing and hunting supplies.

You will be hard pressed to find a better location than the Hillsboro location. I stop in twice a day 3 to 4 days a week and havent had a bad time. The management staff is always helpful and go above and beyond for you. Amber is always a delight to deal with. Oh and also the new manager James is just so pleasant to be around. He is always so helpful and kind and makes you feel like your the only priority. He was kind enough to help me at the gas pump and also he carried a case of water to my car for me. That kind of service is never seen anywhere else and that is why I hope you all go and visit Amber and James and see for yourself.

Located about 40 minutes from St. Louis City, you will find Kress Farm Garden Preserve. The drive…read moreis easy and fast (since it's all highway driving). There are a few signs when you turnoff the highway to let you know you are going the correct direction. The entrance is marked with an iron gate. When the gate is open, they are open. No dogs allowed since this is a Nature Preserve. When you drive through the compound, you will pass a pavilion and then reach the parking lot. There are several accessible parking spots first, then parking spots for additional vehicles. One of the employees (possible owner) greeted us in the parking lot, offered directions to the trailhead, and asked how we heard about their place. Very welcoming! Visitors can borrow walking sticks from the pavilion and return before leaving the property. They have several hiking trails that all begin at the same point. We hiked their Blue Trail since we wanted to see the caves on the property. The paths are all very well marked with colored plaques on the trees. The paths are cleared of excess grass, roots, weeds, which makes for a very pleasant hike. This trail went through a cypress forest, which smells like Christmas. After about half mile hike though the woods, there's an offshoot from the main path down to the cliff caves. There are 3 shallow caves to explore. The offshoot to the caves it a bit strenuous. Leave your stroller at the top of the hill. The offshoot added another .2 miles to the hike. They also have plant and vegetable sales on the weekends. The trails are all well marked along all pathways, and color coded to the chosen trail. Benches to rest along the way on, or read.... as this bookworm did. It preserved by its keepers. Who manage it very diligently. They have gardens, nurseries, a cute little shop with bird houses and jellies and jams to purchase. They provide walking sticks for the trails as well. It got even better when I arrived to the nursery. Was greeted by a very kind lady and was told to wander around and have a look around. Very pleased with all the plants , flowers and succulents. Dogs are welcome on the property. I wouldn't make the drive out that way if it's raining the roads get washed out or flooded. Great low prices on everything. Just wished I lived closer I would go everyday!!
