The older I get, the more I like the smaller independent grocery stores. Shop n Save is one of…read morethose stores. I often find myself there on my way home from work for essentials but also some amazing deals. They have great customer service and specials to keep up with the larger chains. For example, their 5 fo $19.99 deal. Selected meat and frozen items, mostly well over the $4 mark individually, can be mixed and matched and as long as you buy 5, the cost collectively is $19.99. It usually means I get at least one of the items for free. The selection changes daily but I've purchased steaks, burgers, ground meat and any number of frozen items (pizza, fries, burritos) to stock up cheaply. They also have special two day deals on Thursdays and Fridays that are often unbeatable. And let's not forget Wacky Wednesdays! They may not have the longer hours or wide selection on specialty food items that the larger stores do, but they more than make up for it with their hometown feel.

Yesterday, Sunday the 16th I would like to share a disappointing experience at the deli counter…read more We placed an order for two cheeses that were on sale and requested half a pound of each, sliced thin. When we placed the order, we specifically asked if the employee could slice one piece first so that my blind mother could feel and determine whether it was thin enough. The employee, a man wearing a face and neck mask known as a gaiter did not acknowledge our request and immediately began slicing. While he was slicing, I politely said, "Sir, I just want to make sure you're slicing it thin." His response was, "It's thin," in a very dismissive and abrasive manner. After he placed the cheese on the scale, we explained that we would like it sliced thinner. He took the cheese back and sliced it again, but did so with a great deal of attitude. The entire interaction was uncomfortable and unnecessary. On the second order he sliced one piece and allowed my blind mother to feel it and confirm that it was thin enough. Had he simply followed our request with the first cheese, there would have been no need to slice it again or have an unpleasant interaction. We understand that working in a busy grocery store can be demanding, and we are not expecting special treatment. However, customers should be treated with basic courtesy and respect. We are choosing to spend our hard-earned money at your store, and while the quality of the food is important, the quality of customer service matters as well. I hope this interaction can be addressed with the employee so that other customers do not experience the same kind of treatment. We would appreciate knowing that this concern has been taken seriously. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

If you're looking for a perfectly organized shopping experience, Gabe's probably isn't for you…read more It's definitely a treasure hunt! The store can feel like a giant pile of stuff, so plan to spend some time digging through the racks. Be sure to double-check prices, as I've found that some items aren't always labeled correctly. Sometimes the same exact shirt is labeled with three different prices .It's also worth trying clothes on because many items are irregular or factory seconds. That said, if you enjoy the thrill of finding an amazing bargain, Gabe's is hard to beat. They carry tons of unique products and brand-name items you don't always see at other stores, and there's always a chance you'll walk out with an incredible deal. I like coming here to buy work clothes-the prices on scrubs can't be beat. Also, their seasonal products are amazing.

Got to give a shout out to this cute little market that still doubles coupons up to 99 cents. Too…read morebad most newspapers don't come with coupons. My favorite Washington cherries were on sale for 99 cents A POUND. I grabbed 7 pounds and frankly thought they might be lower quality. Nope, sweet and firm and beyond yummy. Then I noticed they had Chambersburg peaches on sale before we left town for $1.49a pound. Grabbed some of those, again half expecting that despite the Chambersburg name, they would be mushy and flavorless. Wrong again, juicy with that nice peach smell, they are wonderful. If I lived nearby, this would be my store. Easy to get to both driving as well as the bus. Plus, this store has my favorite mustard, Nance. Every time I have shopped here, I have walked away happy.

When I called the store their solution was to save my receipt and when I go back and pull into their tore up mud and gravel infested parking lot I will get back what they stole from me after playing detective when I got home. I should have to play detective, take time to call the store about being ripped off then have to go back on my time with my fuel just to get back what I caught them stealing from me. They knew they were over charging customers because when I called about the office told me they knew it was going on. They were very rude on the phone, told me to have a good day as they hung up the phone on me. I've had several incidents with this market overcharging/ ripping off their customers and not caring that they are doing it once you catch them. Like I said.....CHECK YOU RECEIPT BEFORE YOU LEAVE BECAUSE IN MY OPINION THEY ARE RIPPING THEIR CUSTOMERS ON PURPOSE AND YOU HAVE TO CATCH THEM.
