This is a smaller grocery store that is clean and well-organized. I thought the prices were pretty good and was planning to stop back to shop on my way out of town, as the prices were less than I was used to, and I wanted those deals. This store carried items I hadn't seen before. But as it is smaller, the brands they carry are fewer than I am accustomed to, with a lot of the products. And other products had more selection than I could imagine, so maybe they order just what those who shop there want. I wanted to try the breakfast in the restaurant inside the store, too, as I really enjoyed my burger and fries. It will be my first stop in Beaufort on my next visit.

The building was once Owen's Grocery store and is now a casual restaurant. They serve sandwiches and salads for lunch, but the dinner menu is closer to fine dining. I highly recommend making reservations if you are going for dinner, as it is a very popular place, even in the off-season. Reservations are not taken for the Sunday brunch, so I made sure to get there early to be first in line. On my recent visits, the restaurant was decorated for the holidays, so that was fun. It is small inside, but in warmer weather, there are outside tables. Alex took care of me at dinner. He was very welcoming, friendly, and could answer all my questions. He was very attentive and made sure my iced tea was always full. I went with the special for the night. I ordered the ribeye special without realizing it was 20 ounces. Thankfully, my appetite was good that night. It came with brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. I did get dessert too, and that was a chocolate peanut butter pie. That took me two days to finish. At brunch, my waitress was friendly and went over all the specials. I had a green apple mocktail, the #18 poached and stacked. I did the mini sweet potato biscuits as well so it was a lot of food. Alex, from dinner, saw me and asked me about my trip, so it was nice to see him again, and I thought it was nice that he remembered my plans. The bridal party along with a few others met here for lunch and they were able to seat us outside rather quickly by putting tables together which was so kind. All of us enjoyed our drinks. I had the spicy margarita and it was delish! I split the special sandwich of the day with my friend and had the broccoli salad on the side. Both were super fresh and everyone else enjoyed their meals as well! No complaints on the service or food. The outside patio was perfect for the spring weather we were enjoying!

Every time I visit Beaufort and…read moreventure off of the waterfront for something, I pass by this place and tend to be reminded of several "stab and grab" convenience stores during my travels, but during the day, I decided that I would give this place a try... plus I had hubs with me so I felt a bit safer. Honestly, this was a fun convenient store that made me question my first judgement. I probably wouldn't venture here at night alone, but during the day, it had all of the things we needed: paper towels, ice, and some snacks. Nothing special about Big Daddy's, except maybe the name, and the Christmas decor on the outside, but it did meet our needs on this Sunday afternoon in Beaufort.

Dozens of tents and vendors along the walkways and under the trees next to the Carteret County Courthouse. Fresh vegetables and fruits, fresh fish on ice, coffee, artisan breads and pastries, arts and crafts including pottery and paintings and candles and jewelry. Even the county's bookmobile was here like a roving little free library. Live music and community organizations. I enjoyed a coffee and wandered. I say that because coming from PA where FL doesn't exist, the only times I have ever been inside one are here and at the location in Corolla. This store is located conveniently on the "main drag" of Atlantic Beach in what for all intensive purposes is the only strip mall on this part of the island. Plenty of stuff a short drive back on to the mainland in Morehead City, but this is it for what is close to AB and Pine Knoll. I would classify this place as a small town boutique supermarket. This is certainly not a warehouse store and it's also not something like a Wegmans which in terms of square footage and choices would dwarf this place. No, what you're getting here is a solid dose of tourist/beach essentials that leans heavily towards their store brand generics. Not to say that any of that is bad as the pricing and quality of their store branded offerings are quite good. A few things to keep in mind: * I would imagine that the hours vary here seasonally. I know the Food Lion in Corolla can be open 24/7 in summer and in late December be shutting down at 7pm. We've only been here in season and both years the hours were 6am-Midnight. * It goes without saying that in season this store is always packed. Even coming here at 8am on a weekday will yield a fairly busy crowd. * Lots of open registers and if you don't have their MVP card they are more than happy to let you use a store card or sign you up for a card of your own no problem. * Two minor potential downsides. One is that the deli here is on the small side. They don't pre-cut a lot of things and their selections in general are small. Hopefully you like their two types (generalized) of turkey because that's all your getting. My local Giant Store between their brand and Boar's Head has ?? eight types of turkey. If you're big on going to the grocery store and buying a bunch of grab and go meals/sides, not here, as those types of choices are more or less non-existent. Overall the store is clean and well stocked. If I lived in the area I would probably be shopping here. It's not fancy by any means but it gets the job done. Good enough for me.
