I really love this store, it's like a treasure hunt every time you shop, you never know what you're going to find. I worry about its survival because the location sucks. Ramesh is a small West Indian Grocery Store, that carries processed goods, along with some produce and meat. The fresh produce section is somewhat limited, but they do have the staples like some ground provision and hot peppers. They only had habaneros, while other West Indian stores would have two or three varieties of hot peppers. C'est la vie. Ramesh does shine when it comes to procesed goods, pepper sauce, jerk marinade, casareep, dried sorrel etc. This is undoubtedly their strong point, and the best reason for making the trek to this store. They also sell meat, they have advertised specials but I was not sure when I would get home and did not check out these offerings. A worthy try, it would be good if it was in a better area.

The fresh produce had obviously seen better days, and their baked goods are of lesser quality than another store just up the road. The store itself is well stocked with sauces and spices, and frozen fish and meats, but their prices are a bit steep. $3.99 for a 16oz bottle of casreep is a bit hard to swallow, but yet frozen lamb at under $4 a pound was pretty decent. If you need a hard to find West Indies spice or want some frozen fish and/or meat this place is great. But for bakery items and fresh produce go elsewhere.

Uncle Sam's Candy is ALWAYS on Point!…read more I have to give credit where credit is due. Uncle Sam's Candy stays on point when it comes to their products, quality, selection, and most importantly, their customer service. Their customer service is impeccable, and that means a lot to me. You can have a great product, but when you combine that with people who genuinely take care of their customers, that's what keeps folks coming back. Whenever I need some good treats for Valentine's Day, Christmas, Easter, birthdays, or really any holiday or special occasion, Uncle Sam's Candy is one of those places where I already know I'm going to go in and spend some money. From the chocolates and candies to all the different specialty treats, there's always something that catches your eye. And being a chef, I appreciate businesses that take pride in what they put out. Presentation matters. Quality matters. Consistency matters. And the experience you give your customers matters just as much as the product itself. I also believe in supporting businesses that continue to provide great products and great service. When people treat you right and consistently deliver, you show that appreciation by continuing to support them. So when it's time for me to grab something sweet for the family, put together a gift, celebrate a holiday, or just satisfy that sweet tooth, Uncle Sam's Candy gets some of my money every time. Great candy. Great selection. Impeccable customer service. That's how you keep customers coming back. Keep doing what y'all do! ‍

I don't know if that's true, or if it's been this busy for 114 years, but it was definitely packed full of people last Saturday perusing the wide array of merchandise they have for sale. Despite its proximity to the Great Sacandaga Lake, Northville is usually a sleepy little town. Last Saturday though, the Five and Dime was literally the busiest place I've been since COVID hit...maybe it was a combination of the 4th of July parade happening soon and the impending rain...but I like to think it's just because it's an awesome shop. Five and dimes seem to be dying out across the country, but if you've never been to one it's like a mini-department and/or general store. They've got all kinds of fun stuff to check out from toys (bubbles for my daughter), camping supplies, hardware, stationary, seasonal decorations (we found some needed graduation stuff, birthday candles, etc.) crafts, housewares, and more. Don't forget to check out the second floor which has a surprisingly nice selection of lake-appropriate clothing (Lakegirl must be a popular brand these days), and a whole room for baby stuff...books, clothes, toys, and more. Most importantly, they've got homemade fudge. I'm not a huge fudge guy, but I'll happily get down with the sea salt caramels anytime, and the army of teenage girls that seem to staff this place will be happy to help you out.

One example of 'modern' is the self checkout kiosks that are not only faster than any other I've used at other Market 32 stores, but recognises veggies and fruits in the scale. For instance, when I place the tomatoes on the scale, the kiosk comes up with a list of choices to click from, such as vine-ripened tomatoes, beefsteak tomatoes, and plum tomatoes. I also find their regular weekly discounts for a whole variety of items appealing, although this is not unique to this particular store. The staff I've interacted with have so far been overall friendly and helpful. They have their own parking lot, so parking has not been an issue. They also tend to keep a good stock level. All in all, I hope they keep up the good work and stay open for a long time.
