    AVIS is located across the street from the baggage hall. There is an underground passage right…read morebelow the baggage hall and it will provide good cover especially during the winter seasons. As you entered the rental hall, AVIS is located right to the left side of the door way. Both Preferred and regular rentals are handled at the same counter. The agent was friendly and had me on my way within a few minutes as I am a Preferred member. There is a 24-hour gas station at the entrance to the airport. I returned the rental before it was opened for the day. I dropped off the keys at their night box and was on my way to the gate. I would rent from AVIS on my next trip to Halifax CA.

We ordered a "mystery car" $200/day as that was our only option. The car they gave us was a KIA mid size and was in pretty bad shape.. and our CRA forgot to add our aeroplan # to our reservation when we checked in at the counter. Upon returning the car, I noticed a week later that I had not received any aeroplan points yet to my account. I called AVIS at Halifax Airport and spoke with a lady who claimed to be a manager "Kelsey" (under Joe Ferraro ) and she stated there was nothing she could do as the reservation was now closed. KELSEY came across very arrogant. She didn't offer any assistance, and claimed there was nothing more she could do. She told us to call Aeroplan. We called Aeroplan and after an hour we got hold of an agent who told us that AVIS was responsible for adding our points. A supervisor then came on the call who assisted us in a 3 way call with Avis and spoke to customer service who gladly added our points. (the entire process took appx 3 hours of my time from being put on hold, waiting times, etc....). The entire situation could have been avoided if the Halifax manager KELSEY (under Joe Ferraro) knew what she was doing. She claimed that there was nothing more she could do. Such arrogance! All she had to do was open a 3 way call with AVIS customer support (like the Aeroplan Supervisor did) and have our aeroplan number added to the reservation. It was as simple as that. She refused to budge and completely wasted 3 hours of our time. It is quite annoying when someone who is in a leadership role as a manager is so full of herself, yet clearly doesn't know the process. KELSEY (under Joe Ferraro) clearly needs a refresher in Customer Service!!! #KELSEY #AVIS #JOE.FERRARO #HALIFAX

There was a $75 admin fee remaining after our insurance claim, and they wouldn't even let that go. The windshield chip DID NOT HAPPEN while we were using the vehicle. They inspected the vehicle when we returned it and agreed that it was in perfect condition. But if you read the terms and conditions (which nobody does) they are not responsible for anything, even if it happens after you leave the airport. Absolutely ridiculous!! We've been back twice and used AVIS without issue since. Shame on your Hertz. I hope you choke on your corporate greed. Disgusting!! We'll take it back in lost revenues by telling all our friends and family going forward.

Not just the regular customers off the street even the corporate customers they give you a CDP Number they give you a corporate rate and discounts they still don't honour it even though it is in writing, it say CDP it's accept it North American wide . Hertz say they will not debit your credit card until all the final building is done and the final rates and your discount are added. that's just bull crap. As soon as you drop the rent off and return your keys, immediately charge your credit card then you have to fight for your for your corporate rate and your discounts. Heitz concerned is not the customers only the mighty Dollar on your bottom line . Just Saying

    I rented a car from Thrifty Car Rental at the Halifax Airport through Alberta Motor Association for…read morea month long stay in Nova Scotia back from mid August to mid September, after the second week I received a call rom Thrifty asking if I was Ok. She told me I was reported to be in an accident In Dartmouth NS. I told her I had no idea what she was talking about. That call was followed by a call from the Halifax Regional Police. The officer told me I knew why he was calling which I replied I had no idea. I was reported to be in a accident on Highway 111 in Dartmouth NS near the MicMac Mall. At no time during my time in Nova Scotia was I in Dartmouth. The closest was when leaving the airport and headed to Truro. During the time the accident was to have happened I was 500 kilometers away in Ingonish NS fishing with my brother. I went to the local detachment of the RCMP who told me to take pictures of the vehicle a send to the HRPD which I did. It took 5 days to close the file after it was determined that someone reported a wrong tag number. In the meantime I was afraid the drive the vehicle in the event I was struck in from behind and I can only imagine what would happen then so the vehicle hardly moved during that time. Thrifty would not return phone calls to me, and refused reasonable compensation for the time it took to close the file. I decided to get out of Nova Scotia and get the vehicle back to Halifax cutting our time short. Four months later and still nothing from Thrifty despite an intervention from AMA. So, from a segment of the tourist train which seems to be battling bad press they make no effort to resolve this situation. I'm not looking for much just compensation for that time it took to close the file. It was a Thrifty vehicle despite Hertz being involved in this also. It was their vehicle with their tag so they have some responsibility to support their customer. Not calling me back when I needed their assistance was unacceptable.

Then when we finally got a representative to talk to us they charged us more than the original agent stated for only a few hours extension. The phone fiasco would have been enough to never use the service again, but the extra unknown charges are going to make us avoid this company at all costs and to tell everyone we know to do the same.
