Charcuterie and Cheese
Ali H.

This place was good.. but not great. The service was not super good, especially for a more expensive place like Dolce. I will say that they seemed understaffed, so this is more of a reflection on the owners/ management then the staff themselves. I ordered the charcuterie board as an appetizer and it was AMAZING! A little pricey, but the cheeses paired very well with the meats and they had honeycomb and jam that added a sweet touch. Definitely order this if you go here. For my entree I ordered the Penne pasta and was extremely disappointed. The dish tasted overwhelming of peppers and you couldn't even taste the sauce. I would probably come back here for the charcuterie board alone, but it's not my favorite place ever. The drinks were good too but pricey.

The service was a bit slow (took 20 mins to take our order) but the linguini and clams pasta was delicious. Seasoned well with fresh pasta.

I'm new to the area and happened upon Dolce while exploring the area. The restaurant is sooo adorable! Absolutely beautiful decor very modern, tasteful, and fun! I ordered the Margherita FLATBREAD and my husband ordered a Cesar salad with salmon. The food arrived and I was disappointed that my FLATBREAD was basically a mozzarella cheese pizza with five basil leaves on top. I usually order a Margherita pizza if I find it on a menu because I like the simplicity of the Neapolitan dish... very little sauce... Fresh tomatoes ... a few slices of cheese...and a few basil leaves. Simple. Sadly, there was so much cheese on the pizza the thin dough was soggy and a mess. I scraped all the cheese off and ate the edges that were not soggy. My husband said his Cesar salad was good. When the waitress came to leave the check I asked her if this was in fact their Margherita pizza... she said yes. I explained I was surprised because the menu said there were San Mazano tomatoes used and there were none. The waitress explained its a San Marzano SAUCE. I explained there's a discrepancy then in the menu description. It was a cute place... we may return only next time inquire further about the preparation of their dishes.

Very nice rustic old world style, it's small classy kind of a Tuscan feel. In Rancho Santa Fe Fairbanks area. Had the Wagyu Burger and Lasagna Pros: Location - If you live/work in the area, then you know how easy it is to get to. Wine - If you like wine, then this is a spot for you. Lots of choices at all price ranges. Food tastes freshly made but need a little more seasoning Cons: Price/Portions - The food is expensive considering portion size but what isn't expensive these days.

Dolce has definitely come down IMHO. We've returned for take-away following the COVID-19 shutdown. My favorite has been the Dolce Burger, but the quality of the meat has declined, as has the preparation. "Rare" was prepared "Medium" at best. The brioche bun was stale. And they tried to charge an uplift for blue cheese ... and for the bacon that is part of the menu description! The "half chicken" is little more than a chicken breast bounded out to form what looks like a half chicken. Tasty but not as advertised. Dolce has take-away, delivery (Grubhub), and dining in the restaurant. Social distancing is enforced, as is the face mask requirement. Major problem is that Dolce will not honor gift (bonus) cards bought last December beyond their June 30th expiration date ... despite 3+ months of COVID-19 lock down.

This beautiful restaurant is nestled within the lovely community of Del Sur, just west of 4S Ranch. The building itself is impressive and once inside, very thoughtfully and elegantly decorated and appointed. My first impression was this is a standout place and I'm so glad I dined here. The staff were all so welcoming, friendly, and personable. We were even visited by Rosina herself as she delighted us in a tour of the menu and answered questions. I started with the Burrata alla Panna, served with heirloom tomatoes, which was outstanding. Most places just call this one "Caprese". For dinner I had the Lasagna which was excellent! House made pasta sheets layered with meat Bolognese, bechamel, ricotta, mozzarella, and Romano cheeses. Served bubbly hot and beautifully baked off on top, just how I like it. I was impressed by the number of thin, delicious layers that went into their lasagna. I look forward to visiting again soon and cannot recommend Rosina's more highly enough!

They also have a kids menu and a lovely cocktail selection. We ordered virgin drinks and enjoyed them very much. This was my second time here. The first time was a few months ago when our work hosted a big appreciation dinner. The restaurant has a great covered patio that is beautiful and spacious. The ambiance, food, and quality of service was what got me to return again. This is definitely a fantastic place for Italian fare. Great for intimate dates or big celebrations.

HAPPY HOUR Amalfi is…read morethe third incarnation of this place in the 7 years I've lived in the neighborhood. The menu is very similar to their offerings on my few previous visits. This review applies only to my recent happy hour. The HH runs until 5:30 in the restaurant, 7 at the bar, and the happy hour menu has a more extensive selection of food and cocktails than most places. Decor is old school Rat Pack style with lively music playing throughout the place. Their drinks and food were a mixed bag, but mostly disappointing. Pros: Cocktails there are a respectable size. Not huge, but on the generous side. Mussels and clams are fresh and cooked properly, and therefore tender. I had asked that the toast served with them be dry with no oil. Although our server assured me that they never put anything on the toast, it arrived with a slight slathering of something on it. The broth that the shellfish is flavorful and light. A delightful dish. Also, blue cheese stuffed olives are available as a martini garnish, an item not found everywhere. Cons: My husband ordered a "Vodka martini, extra dry, with just a whisper of vermouth". It arrived looking like a glass of golden colored liquid, so he sent it back telling the sever that it contained much too much vermouth. The second one was better, but still too much vermouth and so to sweet. My Negroni, up arrived with a large ice cube in it. The mini lasagna has shrunk to micro size. It's about 1/3 the size of the mini I remember from some years ago. I know well that prices have increased everywhere, but this is extreme even so.

The ambiance at the bar was relaxed, with a warm, social energy that made it feel like a great after work spot. It had a casual but polished vibe, and you could tell it is a popular time for people to unwind and catch up over drinks and small plates. The space felt inviting overall, although seating choice does matter depending on the time of day. We ordered the HH $10 Sicilian meatballs, the $12 cacio e pepe arancini, and the $10 chicken pesto garlic knot sliders. My personal standouts were definitely the arancini and the meatballs. Both had great flavor and texture, and I would happily reorder them again. Service was decent, especially considering we were sitting at the bar. One small note is that I would recommend sitting facing the back if possible, as the sun came in pretty directly and made it a bit bright and uncomfortable at times. Overall, it was a solid happy hour experience with a nice atmosphere, good value, and a few standout dishes I would come back for.

The plate came out with a mention of nut free. I started to eat it and glanced at one point at the opposite side I was eating from and found a pine nut. My allergy is severe and im glad I didnt have a reaction. But what made it worse was the lack of care by the GM. I Informed my waitress who was very apologetic and informed me she would have her manager come by. The man that came over was so casual - he said, with no greeting: can I get you another meal? I declined because I was not very skeptical of eating here. And expected at least an apology. But he said: are you sure? Well OK. And then walked off. That was it. No recognition of what happened. No offering to comp the meal. The receipt did come with a comped meal but im still in disbelief at the lack of care by the manager. I will not trust this restaurant again. They also messed up several orders. No salmon on the salmon avocado toast. The wrong meal. We were all over it. I won't be back.
