Delivery was on or before time and I was able to pay with my card at the door NICE !! Now to the food I ordered a small pepperoni pizza and two chicken salads. The pizza I have to say for me and my wife it's the best in town period. What can I say about Dolces? A little spice of Italy in Hagerstown. We drove into the quaint parking lot on a rainy day. Sat down and was quickly served by a sweet server. They start you out with a fresh garlic knot and butter on a plate. Our lunch came and it was to die for Italian. I had a small pepperoni pizza and my cousin had chicken Parmesan. It was amazeballs! Mama cooks in her white shirt, blue apron and hat. She cooks with pure LOVE. Her 2 hot sons also work with her. At the end of your meal the waitress brings hot, beignets to the table. This is the best launch experience I have had in Hagerstown. The service is fast and friendly. The food is out of this world. Absolutely fantastic. Thank you for having your restaurant. Finally had the chance to try Dolce and we're really glad we did!! Such a yummy little home-style restaurant with just dang good food!! We were seated and served delicious warm out-of-the-over rolls and a scoop of butter. Now that's just happiness!! We ordered hot wings, a tossed salad and a 'special pizza with everything.' The wings were breaded and deliciously crisp, served with a small bowl of hot sauce and ranch dressing for dipping. Yum!! The tossed salad was large, very fresh and covered with plenty of shredded mozzarella cheese...there's nothing wrong with that!! The special pizza was really dang good!! The crust had the perfect amount of chew and the sauce was simple and flavorful. The toppings were a mixture of Italian meats, mushrooms, multiple types of peppers and onion...all nicely chopped and definitely fresh. After our meal we were served a plate of fried dough covered in powdered sugar. Truly a nice addition and shows just how much the owners appreciate their guests!! We will definitely be back!! We need to try the pasta dishes...especially the eggplant parmigiana!! And, of course, we need to try Chef Julia's cabbage rolls!! read more

This is probably the best restaurant I have ever been to. When we walked in, we were invited to sit wherever we would like. Our waitress, Miya, was very nice and had great recommendations on what we should try. The pizza and garlic bread was top notch. We tried the fried mushrooms, vegetable soup, pizza, mousakka and the house chicken. When we were done eating, we were pleasantly surprised when we saw our bill. Ehmmm I have absolutely no idea how in the hell this place has 4 1/2 star rating. Firstly, this is not an Italian place, the owner and cooks are Romanians. I don't know why it is listed as an Italian restaurant. Secondly, the food took forever to arrive even though there were only 2 tables. I understand that they have take out orders as well but a 30+min wait for 2 sandwiches is not ok. Thirdly, after waiting so long for the food, it didn't even taste good. Both sandwiches were dry and bland. Last but not least, the "decor" looked like it was done by someone's blind aunt. Oh and the worst part was the cleanliness. The dishes and cutlery came with stains and huge fingerprints, how appetising! Avoid avoid avoid! If you've ever seen the movie polka king the atmosphere may remind you of the movie (random thought). The owner walks around chatting with customers sharing stories etc. I left disappointed because nothing tasted good, let alone anything close to authentic italian food. This was a very cozy family-run establishment. The service was attentive and warm, the food was delicious, and the prices were more than reasonable. Hubs got the pepperoni pizza and enjoyed it thoroughly. It came piping hot out of the oven and he devoured it post haste. I got a bite of the crust, as that tends to be my litmus test, and it had great chew and flavor. I ordered the eggplant parm special and it was very good. Portions were also large so I have lunch for tomorrow! Homey details like homemade bread (outstanding) and a sweet treat at the end of the meal on the house are reasons why we love places like this. Cant remember ever before having been served those nasty bagged crinkle cut fries in a decent restaurant. Cold and half cooked too. My gyros was terrible. threw that out too. The pizza is very good, and always wanting to try something new, I went to the European Dinners section of the menu and have had the moussaka and the tochitura moldoveneasca (the waiter says that wayyyyyy better than I did..) both meals were fresh and delicious! I tried this for the first time tonight after wanting to for awhile. I ordered takeout - a small supreme pizza and a lasagna which came with a salad and garlic bread. The pizza is great. It was slightly undercooked but I just popped it in my toaster oven for a minute and it was great. Delicious flavor and great dough. I still think Rocky's pizza on Potomac is the best pizza in town but this is a runner up. The side salad that came with the lasagna was delicious, fresh veggies and what seemed like mozzarella cheese and I ordered their homemade balsamic vinaigrette which was great. Definitely homemade. The garlic bread was very sub-par, just a fresh roll with garlic butter - nothing special. The lasagna was strange. I ordered it because of raving reviews on it but I'm not sure what to think... it wasn't bad by any means... but different. I love lasagna, my whole family is Italian (not that that makes me an expert, I've Just eaten a lot of Italian food all over America and in Italy). I'm pretty sure it was the meat mixture that didn't taste like it belonged in lasagna. It seemed like ground beef... and it had something sweet tasting in it? Not sure what and definitely some spices you typically wouldn't see in lasagna. I feel like they may use the same meat in their stuffed cabbage because that's where it tasted like it would belong. Had some Eastern European flavors rather than Italian. It definitely tasted sweet and didn't fit right in the lasagna. But like I said it didn't ruin it - I just wouldn't order it again. I loved how it seemed like a family business and the woman in the photo outside the restaurant was in the kitchen cooking away and laughing - that was really cool to see. Everyone working there seemed happy and the interior albeit small, was clean and cute. Parking lot is tiny so I could imagine during busy times finding parking might be difficult.
