Lenny Thomas, Lindy De Bruin and Kylie Shipard were excellent throughout our process of shipping…read moreour cat overseas. Great communication from Lindy during all stages of the process, and she was happy to accommodate our schedules to speak on the phone with her. The information we received was very well documented and thorough, and any questions were answered promptly. We were satisfied with the quote we received and felt the team were competent and well-versed in pet shipping, so we paid a 10% down payment to secure Petraveller for the relocation. The sky crate was delivered fairly quickly upon providing measurements. It included a high quality padded absorbent mat which we kept after the trip. The crate is supposedly custom built for the animal, and it was extremely durable and roomy. Kylie met us at the government veterinarian office two days prior to the cat being shipped. The vet had to scan the microchip and stamp approval for the travel paperwork. Thankfully we had Kylie present, not only was she going straight to the government office to submit the TSA Cargo Acceptance Form and export paperwork, but she also came to our rescue at the vet appointment because the vet did not have a microchip scanner that reads the US Avid microchips! (I was mortified that an Australian government vet who is supposed to be scanning microchips from other countries, that this vet would only have one type of microchip scanner? But we will save that for a separate review another day). Kylie happened to have an Avid microchip scanner in her van (thank goodness) and the vet successfully scanned and confirmed the microchip. If Kylie did not have the scanner we would not have been able to proceed with the travel. Kylie showed up at our house on the day of the flight to pick up the cat and crate, and she was very compassionate about the situation. She secured the crate and affixed the water receptacle to the crate. She zip tied the crate securely in the back of her van and I felt better knowing the cat was in good hands. I also received a video from her after she arrived and dropped the cat off at the airport. What they didn't do well was inform us of the US customs process and collecting the pet from Emirates Cargo. Unfortunately, this was a very stressful 3 1/1 hours for my poor distressed cat and me. There was a MAJOR hiccup on the day my cat was arriving at Chicago O'Hare airport. I got contacted by Noah Aitelmekki at Emirates Cargo in the morning advising me that I needed to pay the US Customs processing fees of $250 (which I was well aware I needed to pay). Then Noah informed me that whoever my customs broker was had not completed the final paperwork to release the cat when I would go pick him up. Noah asked me to call my broker. Since I had not been given a "broker" contact name or number, I had no idea who to call to submit the required paperwork. I gave him Petraveller's contact information. I was told by Lindy prior to my cat's departure that our contact "Jacky Ling" would be our main point of contact after the cat was on the flight. Unfortunately, in my opinion "Jacky" was just some person who was emailing us updates on the flight but was not really helpful when I needed Petraveller to be in touch with the Emirates Cargo folks. I emailed Jacky at 11am Central to let him know that Emirates needed them to action something pertaining to the customs process. The only email response I got from him was at 4pm (when I was already at the Emirates Cargo to try picking up the cat) that "Noah has been in touch". No other information?? I thought this was very poor communication. The next 3 1/2 hours were beyond stressful and frustrating. I continued to get calls from Emirates Cargo that US customs would not release my cat. They were waiting on Petraveller or the "broker" (which I found out later was CopperSmith). It was freezing outside and pouring rain, and my friends and I had to wait in the car for that length of time. Around 5pm I finally got a call from Lindy who only would say that they were "working on it". They did not have an ETA and explained customs can be very complicated. This is beyond frustrating. I eventually got a call from the CEO of Petraveller, Lenny Thomas. He sounded like he was sincerely trying to help me and he sympathized with my frustrations. I finally got a call from Emirates Cargo that the customs paperwork was finally sent through by CopperSmith, and I could collect my cat. Lenny called me back and said he would place a call to a manager at Emirates Cargo to move me up the line because of the delay in picking up my live cargo (the cat). They did call my name right away so that was really good of Lenny to step in. He also was kind enough to stay on the phone with me until he knew that my cat was released. Lenny made time to have an hour Teams call w my husband and me to explain what went wrong, to apologize and reimbursed us for the customs fees. This is outstanding personalized service.

(Public holidays they are open from 10-4). One store is dedicated to all things fish, birds and reptiles - including the live animals themselves. Prices here are really good and the animals are well looked after. The fish tanks are clean and the staff are really good at chasing down the exact specimen you want for your new pet. The second store is for kittens, puppies, small animals and grooming needs. They provide a grooming service here but I have never utilized that. While meandering around their pet toys you can hear the sound of puppies playing and kittens purring - nothing like the kind of pet store where the animals are asleep in tiny boxes. The staff are happy to let you have a hold or a play with the animals. In terms of pet accessories these guys have everything. Albeit groovy dog collars, piles of pet food, mirrors for your birdcage or all manner of fish tanks - you are bound to find it here. They even have a Do It Yourself coin operated dog wash in their store which is always a lot of splashy fun - depending on how well behaved your dog is. Lucky for owners of escape artists it has a reasonably tall gate that prevents your dog from jumping out. I recommend keeping the lead on just in case. This is a really great store for pet lovers and staff turnaround here is pretty slow so if you are a regular you will be greeted by name. Highly recommend this one.

I don't really go to the other part of the store with the birds and fish. I like that they now have pet adoption, which I think they have had for a while but I only noticed a few months ago.

So popular in fact that you need to book a month in advance at least, more during peak periods like Christmas. If you do manage to get a booking, you will be impressed by how clean and fluffy your pooch looks when you pick him up. The trade mark bandanna around his neck is also a cute touch. If you need to leave Fido there for the day after he has been groomed, there is no problem as there is a dog minding service for just such an occasion - capacity is limited though so you will need to book ahead. Murphy's also sells high end dog food, bedding, collars, treats and toys.

Not only that, the staff seem to know their stuff when it comes to asking questions about products, and often they have a personal anecdote and recommendation about what they do for their own pets. I've got a decent number of pets - two Bengal cats, a fairly young puppy, and a turtle named Neil. As you would imagine, I spend a bit of cash when it comes to looking after them all. Since Petstock opened in Vermont South, they've saved me a small fortune - as much as 25% on some items, and that's not on sale either. And thanks to them, Neil gets a steady stream of feeder fish instead of (or sometimes in addition to) those horrible frozen fish pellets. Neil likes the fish so much that he's adopted two of them, and one of those is now nearly big enough to need his own tank. If you're a breeder of domestic pets (my wife and I used to breed Bengals), they stock super large bags (like 15-25kg) of cat and dog food, and if they don't have it, they're happy to order it in. They also offer services like puppy school, and they have a good rewards program for loyal customers.

Since I've had a puppy, I've been buying her food at this shop and it's all been a bit of an adventure. See, she's a fussy little bitch.
