She can be quite a handful when it comes to getting a bath, cut, and nail trim. The staff was super pleasant and very understanding when I brought in prescription shampoo. Mocha came home happy and pleased, and that means the world to me when we have to find a new groomer. 10/10 recommend and will be back!

They were filthy when I picked them up and they reeked of urine... 4.. their bedding was soaked with urine...claimed they knocked over water as they were leaving...when I questioned why the blankets were soaking wet with urine I was told "oh,if we had known we would have washed them...and yes they smelled them and acknowledged it was urine... 5. I just moved to Florence last year from Charleston so maybe I need to lower my expectations…read more I've tried 3 grooming salons since I moved here and so far they are all sub-par in my opinion. I thought Bark Avenue was going to be different, because the first groom we had was wonderful, but so far they are inconsistent. The times I get a full groom done on my labradoodles they're usually done very well. Then I get a maintenance groom and it's like they get a bath but no more; even though I specifically ask for feet, face, ears and hygiene areas done. Today I returned from picking them up and my one dog's ears are full of mats. She has long hair on her ears, and the mats are very visible on the ends. I called and the groomer said she "didn't see any mats..." Well, she's very young and I'm pretty old, and not wearing my glasses and I can see them. The attitude of the younger lady there seems to be indifference . She never smiles, or greets the dogs. She just seems like she hates working there tbh. I'm sure that is not what the owner of Bark Avenue wants in an employee. I hate leaving bad reviews but I guess I'm still on the search for a decent groomer in Florence.

More worried about collecting $80 Here's the full story of Reese's end of life today. For a year I've been concerned about her pain and didn't want her suffering. Her Veterinarian was certain it was arthritis and could be managed. 6 months + of monthly injections and adding 2 more pain killers over that time nothing seemed to improve. Today was her arthritis injection appointment and having physically carried her in and outdoors the last 2 days to potty I called ahead and notified them it was time to end her suffering. A different Veterinarian in the practice saw her this morning and decided it her legs were "very bad and most likely advanced cancer" and was certainly the best decision. Heres what hurts, month after month after month of $200 vet technician appointments for arthritis treatments that apparently gave her no relief. The money isn't the issue as much as her extended suffering is if the diagnoses was that off. So, im sitting on the floor, my back against the public hall door of the examination room, her head in my lap. The Doc had given her a light sedative to relieve her anxiety so they could insert an IV needle and left the room saying she'd get sleepy in anout 10 mins. So im speaking softly to her rubber her ears, saying my goodbye's. This is her last 10 mins of knowing me, a time to be at peace and say goodbyes. Suddenly the door hits me in the back, its the front desk cashier. She says to me through the crack in the door, Mr Osward its gonna be 80 dollars today can i get your credit card or check if your using one and ill ring you up? "Are you serious I responded. I'm on the floor tears running down my face, my dogs head in my lap, her last moments of consciousness on earth, my last moments to console and comfort her and they interrupt it to get paid for a service they havent even performed yet...she hasnt even been put to sleep yet. I tossed a credit card through the crack in the door telling her to charge what she wanted. So thats the last few minutes with Reeses and the memory im probably stuck with. Not the peaceful sorrowful last few minutes i wished for either of us. 16 yrs, 3 generations of dogs, this is NOT Dr. Charles Hewitts Westside Veterinary Clinic in any form now.
