No. Just no.
After initial call, it took Jennifer 3 days to get back to me, at which point she sent a string of texts explaining that her personal life was out of her control and it was affecting her business (off to a great start, right?)
Still, decided to give them a chance. Was clearly price conscious, as I requested pricing before even committing to the appointment. She told me $40 for a clipper cut, $45 for a hand cut. I told her clipper cut would be perfect and set the appointment. She also said she "only does glands by request because it's icky". Very strange.... so I requested the expression, as it's part of the grooming experience and my dog needs it. When I got there I showed her pics of my pup to give her an idea what I wanted. She saw his colored hair, I told her I do that myself. "Oh no, we can throw that in" she told me. Throw that in.... that's what she said. To an already price wary customer, this would have been a great time to point out the obscene additional charge. She made no such mention.
Left pup, got call two hours later so I came in to pick him up. I came in, "that'll be $60" she says. WHAT?? I asked why the difference, she tells me it was the color.... the color she completely failed to mention was an additional charge when I suggested I do it myself. "What?!" I asked. "That color was $15??". She replied that yes, in fact the color was $15 but she would waive it "for me". You mean you'll honor the price you originally quoted? How very kind of you.
Got pup home. His ears are trimmed unevenly, way too long, but no big deal. His glands were very clearly not expressed, as I did them myself when I got home due to his scooting. they were FULL. That's when I notice a HUGE GASH on my dogs side. It wasn't deep, it was clearly from the clippers, as the hair was jagged there, there were obvious teeth marks from the clipper, and it was the entire length of the clipper edge. I've seen groomers knick him before, it happens, but NEVER this big, and they ALWAYS tell me. I called her immediately. Over, and over, and over again.
It took Jennifer another THREE DAYS to get back to me. I had been dressing the wound in the mean time, it was close to healed. I addressed not just the clipper mark (Oh, I didn't even notice, she told me. Didn't. Even. Notice.) but in the time it took her to get around to calling back I had done the numbers again - if my pup was $40 and the dye was $15, why did she try to charge me $60, instead of $55?? I addressed that too. She tried to claim that there was no way she cut my pup because her clippers had guards on them, and I was charged $45 because of the hand cut. Well? Which is it? Was he hand cut or clipper cut? It sounds to me a lot like she was pulling numbers out of thin air. Also, her cash machine has one of those obnoxious "TIP ME NOW!!" screens that FORCES you to elect a tip amount (15%, 20%, 25% or Other) before being allowed to proceed. SO PUSHY!!
Ultimately she offered a refund. I told her I thought that was reasonable and the phone call ended. Until I got TWENTY-SEVEN text messages from her. That's right. One after another. She blew up my phone like an ex boyfriend. On and on she went, BLAMING ME for the gouge on my dog's side and insisting that if I chose to review her business it was "clearly because I was trying to ruin her business". Seriously... she text me for an hour telling me that anything that happened must have been my fault. "Maybe your dog had sharp claws and did it to himself?" (If my dog is coming from having his nails done in your salon, why would they be sharp? Are you saying you do shoddy nail jobs too??). She told me that if I wanted a refund I would have to BRING MY DOG BACK to the woman that had sliced him, subject myself to a woman that screamed like a banshee about how I was trying to destroy her business. And mind you, it's been more than half a week since she's bothered to call me back. The wound was well dressed and treated, it's almost a scratch now.
Ultimately we ended with her NEVER giving the refund she offered, and making wild accusations toward me. Never before have I seen such embarrassing business practice from such an unstable woman.
Do not do this to yourself.... good god, don't do it to your dog. There are too many other groomers in town to risk your beloved pet to someone so irresponsible.
Needless to say, we will NOT be returning. read more
