Our dogs are older but still very sociable- when we come to pick them up after we've boarded them there they seem happier and more energetic, like they've had a vacation too! Having tried several of the normal "concrete box" boarding facilities in the area over the years, we're convinced that the "free range" boarding and care at Pettsboro is the best for our our dogs. It's not the right choice for non-sociable dogs, and it may not be for every dog owner, but after many happy visits we're convinced they're the right choice for us.

They all get fed correctly. However the woman running the business smokes pot around them regularly, breaks mops over their heads, kicks them, and yells a lot at the dogs. She forgets meds for certain dogs, and forgets to feed other animals besides the dogs. The house is clean but everyone who used to work for her doesn't anymore because she's not very nice to her workers, and pays below average for the work she's asking for. She does take better care of customers dogs than she does her own, as half of them are sick and not going to the vet, or needing to be severely groomed to the point where it's neglect. A lot of her dogs are not the best around customers dogs, as she does not discipline them. Other than those things, the business is fine.

Someone else at the shelter recommended Pittsboro Animal Hospital, and I'm so glad we took her advice! Dr. Weiser is always on time, her prices are totally reasonable, and she is as smart as a whip! After she diagnosed my dog with mange, she gave us some medication, diet suggestions, etc and answered all of my questions. I've had plenty of other questions as a new pet owner and she has taken the time to talk through every detail with me, from food choices, to ways to give her different types of medication (liquid, ointment), and always gives my pup tons of hugs when we visit. Scheduling appointments has never been a problem and they always keep us up-to-date with her records and any shots she needs to have. The staff is also really friendly- my dog loves everyone there and never wants to leave! I think, no matter where you take your pet, it's important to feel comfortable with the people that care for your fuzzy little pal. I totally trust her medical advice and even though I live up in Carrboro, I will be taking my pup to Pittsboro for as long as I live here. 5 stars and worth the drive!

Had an appointment for his injection and was told no by the front desk lady and the veterinarian that they can't see him for his re- occurring issue because they "were booked." For myself, I am looking for a new veterinarian because to say no to any animal is not only inexcusable but disgraceful. The young lady at the desk presented herself as not caring and non-compassionate with a "matter of fact" attitude. Having someone with her non caring attitude and a veterinarian to say no, is the quickest way to loose business along with trust. If I could give a negative ten rating, I would ! Why do I also have to have my dog in the back just to receive a shot? Should that not be done in an exam room? In front of me? Despite my discontent, I would never trust this hospital ever again... my concern was ignored and dismissed. No need to ever contact me in an attempt to resolve my concern. I've lost complete trust.

First, I want to mention that the information in the other review about the practice's location is…read morenow incorrect. While it's still on 15-501 south, and a bit past Southern Village, it's in its own building now. The building is very clean and well-maintained. The lobby is large, with multiple ways to break line-of-sight if you have a nervous or reactive dog. There are two sides, so cats and dogs can be separated. It's also very aesthetically pleasing, at least to me! I had a couple instances where I found loose dogs in the area I work in, which is near CPVH. The staff was always happy to assist me and I felt welcomed and as though the staff cares deeply about the animals, which is obviously a plus in this business! When I got my own dog, instead of going the vets in Governor's Village, where my parents took their animals, I decided to take him to Cole Park Vets, because of the friendlier atmosphere. We have had nothing but good experiences. All the people are knowledgeable and good at handling dogs, from what I've seen. My pup is always happy to go back. When he was bitten by a copperhead in the middle of the night and had to go to the emergency vets, Cole Park called us the next day to check on him. When we first started going there, we also received a starter kit which included a Red Dingo tag with my dog's name, my primary phone number, and the vets' number. This struck me as very ingenious and helpful - should my dog get loose, and I'm unable to answer my phone (very unlikely), someone will be able to contact the vets, who would be able to tell them other contact info, or possibly board him until I am reached. We had another experience which really helped cement my liking for this practice. My parents' dog was ill. The Governor's Village vets had said it was depression because my puppy was now the alpha dog (an outdated and unscientific theory). We were getting very worried because my parents' dog was only getting up a couple times through the whole day, and she wouldn't eat. We brought her in for a second opinion at CPVH and walked out with a prescription. When the prescription came up at the drug store as over $700 for three weeks, CPVH worked with us to get her the medicine at a much more affordable price. She started feeling better the next day! Another note: my parents' dog is scared of the scales for being weighed. After weighing her, we were supposed to go into the room behind the scales to wait for the doctor. The dog planted her feet and did NOT want to go further. Instead of fighting with her, we were moved to another room. The staff wanted to make this visit as easy and pleasant for all of us as possible, which is very much appreciated. The kicker is that my parents' dog probably had a tick-borne disease. My father had brought this up as something he was concerned about at the other vets, but they didn't consider it likely. Within a day of taking the meds to fight a tick-borne disease, she perked up again, began eating enthusiastically, and was playing once again. It was a huge relief. CPVH's diagnosis and treatment was cheaper than GV's non-diagnosis. Needless to say, my parents are moving their animals to CPVH as their main vets. My father was raving on the ride home about how much more thorough CPVH's vets were, and how much nicer the facility and experience on the whole was.

I just lost my 16yo terrier, who was all-terrier, all the time. She loved people, did not love other dogs: Cole Park took it all in stride and worked it out. During her last years of life, Namas†é was both deaf and blind and Cole Park continued with wonderful care, affection and kindness. I am so grateful for that. A great veterinary practice.
