We visited DDP today as day#1 for my adorable 6 month old Wheaten Terrier. He can be very shy with new people but loves being there with the extremely well- trained staff, I was very pleased with his temperament testing & the patience used in selecting a peer group for him. He spent a half day with comparably sized young dogs and had great fun. The facility is indeed spotless. There is no odor or mess to be seen. Safety is very important to the owner ( who has been my groomer for my late dog since 2008). Close supervision of the dogs is demonstrated. The staff love dogs. It is sincere . I commend them as I do the owner of Doggy Day Play. I am the most observant pet person so I watch everything. I highly recommend this business. There is Video View as the system so that pet owners can watch over their pets . I also want to say that as in any business there is a natural turnover of staff. Young people move on. They go to college. They leave the area. They experience difficulties that cause them to leave: tardiness etc. as well as pursuing other jobs. And I know the physical plant called Doggy Day Play. I drive a distance . I've used the toilet. I walk through the facility. I see no filth . I see no rat traps as alleged in a fake review. I'm sensitive to some fragrances so I provide my own dog wipes for my longer haired dog. He's never been bitten. He's never been harmed. I've never been cheated on a bill. He HAS gotten himself dirty . He's a dog not a professor! Nobody is stupid or rude to me . This is a local business! Why wouldn't a client go right to Jill the actual owner if they had an issue? Why try to ruin a good business ? It's a good place to safely allow your dog to play . I've never boarded there. But I'm never away from home. Support do not destroy small business. It is with a very heavy heart that I post this review... I absolutely had high hopes for this place but I am enraged and incensed by the mistreatment and irresponsible, unprofessional , ignorant behavior by the staff here. I ENTRUSTED them with the care of my 1 yr old doodle. Who as any puppy parent knows, is the love of my life and a family member to myself and my husband. I watched in complete horror and agony as a staff member continually and repeatedly shoved my dog in the face, aggressively away from them as they lazily sat of the ground text messaging on the phone. Petting and inviting other dogs to play but making a point to push my dog in the face and body to get away from them. This person then stood up and shoved my dog away from them entirely... Caring for dogs is the very essence of your job! You can image my complete and utter heartbreak as I watched... but momma is crafty and cunning, because I was recording too.... ;-). My sweet boy is not socialized with other dogs well. He looks for comfort from ppl when around other dogs... It was the recommendation of his trainer that we put him in daycare at least once a week and this place came highly recommended. It is a shame, because up until this experience I would have given them glowing reviews. But due to the ignorant behavior of one unprofessional, uncaring, unknowing individual staffer, and the lack of concern from the other staffers for a hurting mom... I can say for a certainty that I wish I could review less than 1 star... I wish I could upload the video of the mistreatment of my baby in its entirety... All of the other puppy parents I've shown the footage to, were enraged! We will see how the Daycare will respond. So far, No apologies yet. I am however posting the pic of his head being shoved, and him being grabbed by the collar and pushed away. So sorry to have to share this, but it has to be known to other parents and dog lovers. Update: I spoke with the Manager Andrew, and I am impressed with the maturity and insightfulness of this young man. I appreciate him calling to have an objective conversation, apologizing and taking ownership and responsibility on the part of his staff. I am disappointed by the lack of communication from this place. Last week, upon arriving home, I noticed something odd behind my puppy's neck. Sure enough, there was a wound but I was not able to see the level of the injury, as my dog would squirm away in pain. I called DDP and requested to talk to someone that was on duty that Wednesday, as I wanted to know what happened. It took about 5 hours to get someone to get back to me, and that was shortly after I had sent an email to Yuppie Puppy since the response from DDP was not effective. Finally after my message to Yuppie Puppy, I received a call from the General Manager at DDP. He mentioned my dog was "rough-housing" with a few other dogs. First of all, rough-housing should not be allowed. My puppy is deaf and at times this can be challenging, as she cannot hear when another dog is sending out a warning. Not once did the General Manager apologized for what had happened, instead, all I heard was that they are dogs and that's how they rough-house. Granted, I had been very specific from the beginning, that I did not want my dog playing with bigger dogs, as the SAME thing occurred in a previous Dog-Day Care Facility. I still can't seem to understand how a Staff member just stands there and watches them rough-house. Again, I am deeply disappointed and would not trust to take my dog there. read more

If you want to pay money to have your dog locked in a room all day with no play time, this is the place for you. I have called repeatedly asking them to let my dog out. They are quick to blame other staff members. After the 10th time, I've decided enough is enough. if I wanted to lock my dog in a room i can do it at home for free! Do not trust this place. My dog didn't get any play time there. She spent most of her time locked in a room even after numerous talks with the GM. The urine and chemical smell were really enough for me to want her to go somewhere else anyways. She even got bit by another dog while playing there once and I had to go pick her up while the other dog stayed. Think twice before dropping your fur babies here. read more

The only reason we sent our dogs back to Doggie Day Play was because my husband dropped them off while I was at work before we could discuss other options. We'd taken our dogs to DDP a total of 4 times now and on all occasions they've come back disgusting and covered in pee. Our little dog came back after boarding for a few days with an eye infection, ear infection, kennel cough, and covered top to bottom in pee. They didn't even consider rinsing her off, even though they groom dogs as well. After a $150 vet visit I told my husband "never again". Apparently he wasn't listening and dropped them off there again this past weekend when we left town for 2 days. Now we are off to the vet again because my little dog has kennel cough... again! I whole heartedly do NOT recommend boarding your dogs here. read more

It is NOT hard to comprehend instructions and directions. We had spoken more than once to doggie day play about our dog's plans of staying Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night with plans of someone picking him up Saturday and returning him before 6pm to stay over night Saturday night through Sunday night with a pick up of monday. He was getting picked Saturday for first look wedding photos for our wedding then getting dropped off afterwards to stay Saturday night and Sunday night and getting picked up Monday morning. Are your staff incompetent about instructions and plans? Do I not speak English for your establishment to understand? You have caused stress and anger and disappointment because of your ignorance. He was dropped off Saturday and we were informed by our day of coordinator from our wedding to tell us that she was told that he did not have reservations?? Really because I've discussed this with your so called manager and so called staff that he was staying those nights! Are you all not competent of communicating or understanding anything? Because our day of coordinator had to plead for him to stay the night...how is that possible when we spoke with someone more than once that he was staying until Monday? read more

Just read & listen, dont ever take your dog here again. If you really care for their health and well being you'll just get the instinct to not take them anymore. Find another business and make sure that place is clean, organized, DOESNT HAVE A RAT INFESTATION!!!!, and will treat your dog like its theirs. From experience on working here, just don't take your dog there. Before leaving it would always seem like i did everything & everything relyed on me because they knew i would do anything for these dogs, i dont like being taken advantage like that nor would be treated with disrespect by the manager. Don't take your dog to this daycare. We tried so hard to like it due to convenience, but we discovered that our dog would get put in a crate all day on some days and never actually exercise or play. We boarded my 5 month old dog for 6 days. I looked at camera almost everyday and noticed dogs pooping in the same area they interact and play in; not too content about that. My puppy came back lethargic, with scars on her nose and mouth. She also is definitely sick with some type of infection as she has mucous coming out of her nose and eyes. We called and spoke with on call manager today 4/5/21 and all she stated was that "it's normal for dogs to be sad, to come back with scratches and mucous". Seriously!? Please see attached pictures. Not to mention, she was extremely stinky at the time of pick up. She smelled like poop and pee. Not happy at all with the way my pup was treated. I never noticed anyone interacting with the dogs on camera. They would stand there and pick up poop when dos would poop. Does anyone play with our pets? Do they go out for walks? WARNING! DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE! Our sweet golden retriever, Reggie was bitten by a dog while at day care today. They supposedly screen for aggressive dogs...but obviously not very well. She is at the ER right now and getting sedated for surgery. Apparently her collar got tangled with another dog and they started yelping. Then, out of nowhere a third dog (pit bull) just started going crazy and attacked Reggie. Update: To make matters worse, when the manager called this morning to see how Reggie was, he never once apologized for what happened. He pretty much made excuses for the attack and then they told me that the pit bull would be allowed back at doggie day play. This is inexcusable. This dog almost killed my dog. I would not feel safe ever bringing Reggie back there and I urge other dog owners to do the same. read more

We love Doggie Day Play! The staff are absolutely fantastic. Not only friendly and helpful, but you can tell they actually care about the dogs. Every time we come in, they greet Lily (our pitbull) by name, and Lily is so excited to see them as well. They care for a lot of animals but we have never felt 'lost in the shuffle' like other facilities. Unlike another popular daycare we tried in the Oak Park area, the staff at Doggie Day Play are understanding about my dog's energy levels and allow her to play in different play yards while also giving her the downtime she needs to rest. A bonus is that the lobby always smells fresh and clean. (The other place reeked of pet urine.) Bonus #2- adorable puppies to look at in the lobby area while you wait to pick up your own pup. We feel completely at ease leaving Lily here for daycare and boarding. We know she is having a blast and is in the BEST hands! If we ever miss her or want to know what she's doing, all we need to do is give them a call and ask, or log in to their camera app and watch her play. Thank you Doggie Day Play! read more

I've gotten reasonable service from this company for a couple of years, with some complaints here and there, but nothing that would stop me from bringing my dog here. In that light, I feel compelled to share an experience I had yesterday. I dropped my dog off at about 10:15 or so in the morning and picked her up at 6:15 pm. They handed me the bag I had brought to carry her lunch and dinner and when I reached into the bag, I saw that those containers were still in it, full of food. I assumed that meant that they had simply fed her something else, and when I asked, the manager Alexander told me that it actually meant she hadn't been fed at all that day. My dog was there 8 hours and had not been fed. Alexander explained that with staff turnover, her feeding got lost in the shuffle of things. I'm really disappointed. read more

I use to take my two dogs here to play but now they're a bit on the older side and don't need it as much. When I did go there the staff was always really nice to me and I love Brittany the manager, she's awesome. My dogs always dragged me to the door and always come home wiped out. One thing that I know for sure is that this place is cleaner than any other place i ever took my guys to in the city. when I walk in it smells really nice. We have been using DDP for overnight boarding for over a year and this was my last visit. There have been a handful of mishaps to include overcharging me (which was corrected), forgetting to give my dog his Bordetella shot, informing me my dog would need to be isolated due to not being updated on his shots (he is) things that I shrugged off as an immature staff. When I went to pick up my dog today, the total amount due was $20 more. When I asked why I was told there was a $15 late fee for pick-up after 3 and a fee to use the credit card? #1 the business is open until 7pm #2 there is nothing noted on their rates that a fee applies after 3pm #3 there is no signage that there is a fee to use a credit card. When I asked the employee about this, her response was "I don't know." How can a business charge a late fee without informing their customers that there is one? I am done giving my hard earned money to an unethical business. read more

So very disappointed. We had left our dog here when this Doggie Day Play first opened and really liked it. It was clean, well kept up, the staff seemed mature and professional. We went in several days ago with our dog who is arthritic and older and I was totally taken aback. The place seemed dirty, smelled, had way too many dogs so that there was so much noise you could hardly hear anyone. The staff seemed young and inexperienced and the room we left our dog in still had the old water in the bowl from the previous occupant. The room was really run down, obviously hadn't been painted for years and no upkeep. The floor had recently been mopped with dirty water so that it smelled musty, moldy and was wet. No place for an older dog to lie down. I very reluctantly left the dog there as we had to catch a plane and called my daughter who does not live in the village to leave what she was doing and pick our dog up which she did (wasn't asked for any ID by staff) within an hour and a half. The staff said we would be charged $136 for the hour and a half ( because we were cutting short her 3 day reservation). Very hard for us to imagine returning here or recommending this Doggie Day Play to anyone. This place has really gone downhill. read more

Sent my Mini GoldenDoodle puppy here for boarding based on the reviews I read on Yelp,usually Yelp is spot on but to give this place so many stars I'm seriously wondering how low the bar is set. I sent my guy there clean but that's not how I picked him up, what I did arrive to was a puppy that smelled like urine and had dried poop stuck to his bottom, With that being said the Staff on the other hand were amazing very friendly and kind to the wonderful creatures they are entrusted to care for, the fact that you can see your puppy live on video also was a huge plus..... But you can also see the puppies peeing and pooping in the very place they are expected to play and socialize for the day (to the staffs credit it was picked up rather prompt) which was a shock considering my guy is trained to go outside when he has to pee and poop, there was no outside time unless you pay extra to a 3rd party service. Sorry but my puppy will not return to this establishment. read more

Stay away from this place! I used to go to yuppie puppy grooming all the time, so I gave this boarding place a try when we were out of town for a weekend. Just 3 days, I don't know how my sweet girl spent her awful days and nights. She is a lovely golden 7 years old, pretty calm and matural. She had lots of boarding experience since we travelled regularly. When she got home, she was smelly, having rashes in her ears, on her legs, several pinky spots all over her body. That was the worst dog boarding experience EVER. I will take her to the vet immediately. -Heart broken parents. read more

My dog loves this place! HOWEVER, when they forgot to place my dogs antibiotics back in her bag and didn't even give me so much as a phone call regarding the matter, I was very upset. I even called to try and pick it up after hours, since they do house dogs overnight, and the gentleman said it was ok, but when I called back no one answered. When I finally got the chance to go in and get it I of course wanted to speak with the manager. He just blank starred at me and said sorry as I was still speaking. After I was done explaining he continued to look at me dumbfounded with no other words to say. To and end to all of this, I will not be taking my dog back to this place. After treats and belly scratches, Doggie Day Play is our dog's favorite thing!!! The team at DDP is very friendly and knowledgeable. From the first day we have been going there the team is literally down on the floor to greet the dog the second we walk in the door. He is happy and exhausted when we pick him up, which is a good sign! We also get him groomed (bath, nails trimmed, etc.) while he is there, and he's fresh and clean when we pick him up. My favorite thing about DDP is the flexibility! Some days we just walk in without a reservation for day care, but make sure you schedule boarding in advance because it can fill up -- especially on weekends and holidays. Overall, we are thrilled with the service we get, and we couldn't manage doggie care without this place!!! read more

My Border Collie has been here many times and is always so excited to be dropped off for a daily play session. The staff really Loves what they are doing and it is so obvious because I can see it in my dogs reaction to the staff. Another wonderful thing is that they offer a brushing at a small additional cost. The facility is modern and beautifully designed. A lot of time and effort went in to the design and ventilation system. I see many dogs coming here and they are always good natured and sweet. Beware!!! They left my dog in a tiny tiny pen for hours and hours in his own filth. He was returned to me after a couple days soaked with URINE. His blanket was soaked and urine soaked my clothes. AND- My dog was afraid of me! He is blind and deaf. They gave me back his overnight bag with rotten moldy treats in the same bag I gave them. It was the most disgusting thing ever! When I brought it up to them, they turned on me!!! They told me it was my fault because my dog was incontinent- which he absolutely was not. And even if he was, does that excuse drowning him in his own urine? I am not kidding- when they handed him to me he was soaking wet, his blanket was soaked, he soaked my clothes and the blanket made a puddle on the floor. My dog was 10 lbs. do you know how long it must have taken to build up that level of urine. So disgusting! Bad bad people. Stay away! This happened months ago and I still can't believe how they treated my dog and me! I can't believe this place is still open and that anybody would trust them with their furbabies. We brought our dog here for the first time yesterday and were really impressed. Our pup is a small rescue and was terrified when we first got there, probably thinking we were returning him to the pound. He refused to go with staff, but they were so patient with him and helped him acclimate quickly. When he was overwhelmed with the larger dogs, they even made a little play area with a few smaller dogs so that he could get used to it on his own terms. I checked in on the camera a few times and always saw staff interacting with him and helping him feel comfortable. They were even very patient with my new dog-mom anxiety when I called to check in on him in the middle of the day :/. We plan on continuing to bring our pup once a week. read more

We really like Doggie Day Play. We send our golden doodle there a few times a week and she seems to love it. The staff is friendly & attentive. We've only boarded her one night there but that seemed to go well too. Overall it's often hard to trust that any business will take good care of your dog during the day - but Doggie Day Play does a great job. We love Doggie Day Play! The crew is friendly and responsible, and drop off/pick up is super convenient. Our pup Chloe has a lot of anxious energy but as soon as she realizes where she's headed she starts dragging us there and beelines to the playroom. Another cool feature is the "nanny cam" so you can check in on your BFF at any time. Anyone reading this is likely a pet parent and will understand the pure joy of randomly watching your dog run in happy circles throughout the day. And when we pick her up, she is happy and WIPED. And a tired dog is a good dog, and a good dog makes happy humans so it's win/win. read more

DO NOT BOARD YOUR DOG HERE. I found Doggie Day Play online and I chose them to board my 6 lb Yorkie for 3 nights. When we arrived to pick up our dog she was soaked in urine and her bed and personal belongings also reeked of urine. They claimed she would have her own "private suite" their words not mine. She clearly did not. She was sent home with almost all of the food we left for her and she looked like she had not eaten in days (no one called us to inform us our dog was not eating). The next morning I called and asked to speak to the manager. After informing him about our situation, he offered an "I'm sorry" and nothing else. I called back and told him I wanted my $150.00 back and that I paid him for a service they did not provide. He then informed me that he would forward my request to his general manager and have him call me. I received a call from his general manager later that evening and after voicing my complaints he agreed they had dropped the ball. He then told me he wanted to speak to his staff and call me back with some sort of resolution. I have left two voicemails with no return phone call. I have had to pay $150.00 to board my dog $25.00 to replace her bed and another $75.00 to have her groomed a total of $250.00. This place is a sham. Stay away if you care about your dog. I never saw my dog on their "webcam." My dog would have been better off staying at home and being walked by a family member. read more

our dog stayed here for two weeks while we were out of town and having work done on our home. I was nervous at first to leave our dog for so long but now I realize that he'd rather live at DDP than at our house! he had the best time. Each staff member I spoke with showed my dog such love and care. My dog was able to play with other dogs everyday but also get groomed while he was there and get a lot of cuddles from the very attentive staff. It is obvious that the staff love their jobs and truly love the dogs. I also received photos via text of my dog and even a few videos. I really appreciated that extra thoughtfulness--That makes a world of difference--such peace of mind! I highly recommend! read more
