In my message they didn't answer, responded saying "she called me I told her to reach out to german shepherd rescue there are several." I never called. First, they had to prove themselves right on what a foster is. I know what I was looking for. So I them I will have to surrender. They asked for information, and once sent, I got that weird response. Adopted a Feist mix dog named Diamond. After fostering her for only 3 days, decided to adopt her. We have been getting going great and she is such a great dog. So full of energy and so loving. Cheryl was great in getting everything I needed for her and the adoption was smooth. Highly recommend. read more

I have had the worst experience at the Dog Warriors rescue. I was verbally abused by the director. I left a message that the dog had chewed up my carpet and I was accused that it was my fault. He had been in four different homes at the shelter and was left behind with out food or water by the previous owner. Knowing this, I still wanted to adopt him. Now after three weeksam being forced to return him since I was accused of his behavior issues since he chewed up my carpet. read more

One of the best rescues I've fostered for and adopted from!! It's apparent from the some negative write ups that the people who wrote some terrible things about this rescue do not have much experience with rescues ?? for one it's not a job or a career !?!? it's 100% volunteer and the rescue Director spends most of her own money to save these dogs. And and guess what she is the one doing 90% of the rescue work if you look at her webpage, she needs all kinds of volunteers for the different volunteer jobs. No one is getting paid. We are all donating $$$ thousands to these rescues each year so they can pull the high risk dogs from the Rural shelters in particular ! The Rescue is located right Downtown Cary, which makes it very convenient and the Rescue Vet is right nearby too! The rescue Director works about 18 hours a day seven days a week saving pets. And I have worked with her for quite some time. What I really like is that she doesn't require the whole payment when the dog goes to the home. They're still in foster care for two weeks to make sure it's a great fit and no one has hesitation, returning a dog that isn't a great fit. All her dogs are always vetted well! read more

I love dog Warriors Rescue! They are absolutely the best and most amazing animal rescue. They are so sweet and I got my cat boots from them and I couldn't thank them enough! They truly put the animals well-being first and Sherill and Amanda are the best and super helpful. I've fostered for them before as well and they've always been amazing! DWR treats their volunteers horribly, does not prioritize what is best for their dogs, and cares more about their own power and control than anything else. I spent 24 hours a day for 10 days with a beautiful dog they rescued from a shelter. Others at this organization spent no more than a few hours collectively with him. I worked tirelessly to help my foster dog overcome his anxiety towards men and strangers, lack of obedience and crate training, reactive behavior and more. In return, I only asked that I be able to share my insight on this dog with any interested parties - a typical approach adopted by reputable pet rescue organizations. In return for my volunteer efforts, my family and I were verbally abused by DWR staff and the cops were even called to come to my house before the sheriff quickly realized I had done nothing wrong. For an example of the way this rescue talks to their volunteers, please see the attached text messages between myself and Amanda, the operations manager. Before turning to abusing me herself, Amanda informed me that this is the second time recently DWR has called the cops on one of their fosters. What a horrible way to treat your volunteer fosters. She also told me that she frequently has to clean up behind the owner/program director, Sherrill, after she is abrasive in conversations with their volunteers. Truly unfortunate and unproductive for a woman who has chosen this line of work. I am disappointed to hear that my foster dog was not selected to be trained as a service dog, as I had been told and hoped would happen, and he has been returned to DWR. Ultimately, the trainer decided he was too reactive to make a good service dog. I wish I could have adopted him myself, but unfortunately I am not currently able to adopt a dog while I am a college student. I am praying he will find a good family willing to be patient with him despite those who work at this rescue. Please be careful when working with these people. They have a history of being abusive to their fosters, not prioritizing what is best for their dogs, and even auctioning off a "desirable" dog. More details can be found in other reviews on FB. Not a great experience. They have no respect whatsoever for people who give their time and resources to foster animals. I was condescended to more than once. Never once did rescue president say thank you (I don't do it for thanks, but good grief), and my very reasonable request to not have to deal with meeting potential adopters over a certain timeframe (it was a few days) was completely disregarded. I was even told owner would run potential adopter meeting during the time I requested to *not* have adopters come and she sent people to my house anyways and then she DIDN'T SHOW UP. I have a friend who adopted from this rescue and her experience wasn't great. The foster obviously didn't know what the adoption included, etc. so my friend ended up being underprepared once she had a dog in hand. I don't think it was the foster's fault, but it just speaks to the disorganization. Another foster within the rescue mentioned the president was hard to with with so I know it's not just me. No, I am not confusing this experience with another rescue just in case there's a rebuttal. read more

There is no way this is a legit rescue. They were recommended by another rescue who was full. My fiancé and I are having to move for the sake of the human members of our family so we can all be under one roof again. Unfortunately the only place we found in a short period of time, that is also affordable, is sadly not pet friendly. And due to our current circumstances we didn't have much time to find something. I reached out to Dog Warriors Rescue, asking for help via Facebook. Their first response was to say "wow how sad" and to go on to tell me that if I had to take my dog to a shelter she would surly be euthanized. They continued to try to make me feel guilty and told me I needed to find a new place to move that is pet friendly, despite our move in day being the next day nor did they know our story as to why we have to move. They were very rude and the only "help" they offered was to provide me with listings for pet friendly housing. Aren't rescues there to help save animals and rehome them? Not to make the owner feel even worse when unexpected things happened? I would give zero stars but unfortunately that's not an option. Might even give negative stars if I could. read more

This was the worst experience ever! I completed the application, listed 3 refernce only 1 was called and the call lasted less than 2 min with the only thing being asked is "I guess youre going to telle your mom take really good care of her pets" That was the extent of vetting done on me. No other reference were call3d. I suppose a check could have been done to make sure I didnt have any animal abuse charge agaist me but who the hell knows if it went that far. Next I made an appt for a puppy date with a dog named Dinah. Less than a week later I get a call saying they had to take Dinah out of the foster he and asked me to take her because they didn't know where they were going to put her. I panicked worried about the dog, made a call to my family about what we could do. We ended up taking her as a foster to possible adoption. I was told they would supply food, crate and anything else she need while fostering. Never got a crate by the time I recieved a call back (several days later) I had already bought a crate and more food. I couldn't get any answers about vacinations or history of any treatment other than being give 1 tablet and being told she had a uti and n3ed to finish the meds. I asked for medical records was told no and that she needed to be spayed. Do some research spaying too early can cause issues with growth playes. DINAH is part Shepherd which are prone to hip dysplasia. I asked to wait for the sake of Dianh, to have the spay at 6 month. Was told no and that vet says it is fine to do before 6 mnths. I did more research I called my former vets and was told by both that it is not recommended to spay before 6 mnth, I called 2 vets that I have never been to and again was told it was not recommended. I went back to Ms Jackson and once again told no and threats were made to take Dinah from me. By this time I had been caring for Dinah for 6 weeks and grown attached to her. Ms Jackson appears to not care about the animals and just wanted the 350.00 adoption fee. I said I would pay the fee and adopt then wait till she was 6mnths to spay her. Again told no and threats to take the dog. I then said I would pay the fee and take responsibility of paying for all her treatment so that I could make the best possible decisions for Dinah's medical future. Again told no. It had become about control at this point. Ms Jackson is rude, she screamed at me & my daughter when we never even raised our voices. We were just trying to make the best medical decisions for the puppy. It would be great to not give this rescue any more animals and get every animal in her care OUT of her care. She doesn't NOT care about what is in the best interest of the animals. This is proven by the lack of vetting and the lack of concern of my dogs best interest. She is a horrible person. read more

I have had a great experience, as a young kitten foster parent for Dog Warriors Rescue in Cary. The kittens have been well treated and I have gotten all of the information that I need to care for them. It was my first time fostering bottle babies and it won't be my last. I feel the organiz has done everything possible to do what's in the best interest of the animals needing rescue. read more

My partner and I decided to adopt a kitten this summer. I immediately became obsessed with Petfinder.com, searching for an orange tabby kitten in our area. There was one from Dog Warriors who seemed perfect, and I worked with Sloane to adopt him. Sloane had been his foster mom since he and his siblings were rescued at 4 weeks old, covered with fleas and underfed. She clearly gave him all the love in the world -- he is the cuddliest kitten ever, very sociable, playful, confident, healthy. He is literally the PERFECT kitten and brightens our lives every day. The adoption process was easy -- they give you 12 days to make sure the pet is a good fit for your home, but on the car ride home I knew we would be keeping him! The adoption price was slightly higher than other rescues, but worth every penny. read more
