The part that stands out about Chris is how clear and easy everything was. A day after we left, we realized that we left something behind. I messaged Chris, and the professionalism of how he addressed this situation was phenomenal! There should be a good faith effort to make things fair for all renters. The unfairness of what happened to us was very disappointing -- renter beware. The timeline is as follows: the reservation was booked on January 31 and my son cancelled on February 21 -- not March 12 as stated. The stay is still several months away. We contacted Airbnb and they are currently reaching out to the host to review the situation. Unfortunately, my son was also blocked from contacting the host after the cancellation, which made it difficult to discuss any possible solutions directly. Our intention in leaving a review was simply to share our experience so others are aware of the cancellation policy before booking. The host also claimed that I threatened to write a review, which is not true -- I only wanted to let people know about the unfairness of this business practice.

We figured the kitchens would make this easy, which still allowing the family to geta change a scenery in an area with a lot more hiking and outdoors fun than staying at home. Reserved a two-bedroom suite through the hotel - but you can also get similar rooms via other websites directly from private owners. The prices seemed to be similar. The room was great. Decent kitchen. Bunk beds in the kids room. Two decent sized bathrooms. Great little balcony that was shaded more of the afternoon. The rooms come with underground parking that lets you park really close to an elevator and have quick and easy access to your room wherever you are in the Village. We didn't use it, but they also a locked bike storage area in the garage that you can access with your key. We will be bringing the bikes next time for sure. This is great perk. The room was clean and we definitely felt safe there despite the ongoing pandemic. The only two hiccups were the lack of any bath mats in the restrooms (but they brought us some when we called and asked for them) and the phone in the main bedroom had a flashing red light indicating a message, but there was no message, meaning the light would not turn off. I had to hide it in the nightstand drawer to sleep. Strange, but not a big deal. We will absolutely go again. So convenient to be able to walk to everything, order takeout and take it back to the room and enjoy a nice large room.

Every time we go on vacation, all year round we know we can count on Truckee-Tahoe Pet Lodge! From the start Gunnar has loved staying at the Lodge! He gets super excited the second we get off the freeway, he drags us in, because he knows exactly where we are! When we pick him up we have one seriously tired pup on our hands! He sleeps the whole 3 hour car ride home and even for a day or two after we get home! We have had him stay at the lodge for varying lengths of time ranging from just an over night stay to up to 2 weeks! And every single time he is a happy boy when we pick him up and completely worn out! He has stayed a couple OTHER places before, places closer to home, and we had trouble with a few things... his high energy being too much to handle as well as him not taking kindly to the owners (never trust anyone a dog doesn't trust, they have great instincts, and I know that now ) ....BUT NOT WITH the Truckee-Tahoe Pet Lodge! This place loves our high energy boy and greets us with a smile every time we come through the door! The staff is super educated, loving and very attentive! There was one time we dropped him off and told them he wasn't feeling well... they kept a close watch on him and was on the phone with us giving us updates on his status and even gave recommendations for a vet visit (well advised, as he was very sick and losing weight quickly). By ALL MEANS, I would TRULY rather drive 3 hours away from home, to drop him off here, and fly out of Reno, for any vacation we go on RATHER THAN leave him ANYWHERE else! WARNING: my dogs almost died here…read more I want other pet owners to know what happened to my two Shih Tzus after staying at Truckee Tahoe Pet Lodge in the month of May WHAT I FOUND AT PICKUP: Both dogs were trembling, dizzy, extremely weak, dehydrated, vomiting, and had diarrhea. They could barely stand. I also noticed an unknown topical substance applied directly to the skin on their backs -- something I never gave permission for and was never told about. A vet later confirmed skin scabs. THE STAFF'S RESPONSE: Nothing. Staff said nothing about their condition and acted visibly nervous. THE COST: $700 in boarding fees, $500 in OTC medicine and supplies to nurse them back to health, and $600 in extra hotel costs because my dogs were too sick to travel home. Nearly $1,800 total. I have filed formal complaints with Animal Control and the BBB. Please, if you love your pets, board them somewhere else.

I rented snowshoes for both the days. The person renting them (I forget his name) seemed very knowledgeable about the equipment and also about where I can go snowshoeing around there (walking as well by driving a little further away). I was not sure if I needed the equipment for both days, so I rented twice, each day for $20. At checkout, the staff (Cassandra) gave me a discount of $5 as the second day would have been $15 if I had rented for 2 days. I appreciate such understanding from them! * The food is wholesome and delicious. I eat vegetarian and they had enough choices. * I like the community and volunteer feel of the place, and don't mind doing the chores (1 chore a day) while I am staying there. It is a great way to meet and talk with other guests. It also make the price very affordable, which I like about this lodge. * There are many trails around the lodge and many snow sports to do. You're surrounded by a great, down-to-earth crowd, and it feels like a true mountain community rather than a typical hotel. The staff were outstanding across the board. Everyone was helpful and welcoming, even with the challenges of the storm. The biggest highlight for our family was the food team. Our son has a dairy allergy, and they went above and beyond to accommodate him. They clearly communicated which foods were safe, and on multiple occasions prepared separate options just for him. That level of care made a huge difference for us and gave us real peace of mind. A special thank you to Juan, who was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. From assisting with the reservation, to coordinating with the kitchen, to being a consistent and reliable point of contact, he made everything smooth and easy.
