The layout was decent, nothing fancy, but it was easy to navigate and find the specific theater I needed. The food area could definitely be maintained a bit better. The soda machine was a major issue; it wasn't working as it should, causing delays. The poor kids in front of us were struggling with it, and honestly, people around them were getting impatient, thinking they were fooling around. The seats were definitely a highlight, leather recliners that let you lean all the way back. Super comfortable and made the experience more enjoyable once the movie started. And thank goodness no one talked throughout the film, which really made it more enjoyable. Overall Service: The ticket seller was great and friendly, which I appreciated. However, the concession staff seemed a bit quiet and didn't engage much when I asked them questions, which felt a little off for a movie theater environment.

But mostly, the food was really fantastic. Gouda grilled cheese with coconut soup hit the spot. The different ciders were a treat as we normally don't drink cider. They have live music, we played chess, the whole vibe was hipster premium. We just stopped off for lunch while rolling though town. However, it's great to know that there is a cool place to stop off in out West of Madison. In fact, the whole town looks great. Maybe a day trip just to Mt. H.

Because this place is now permanently closed. In past times, before theaters required a wet bar, luxury box seating, a concierge and valet parking (I exaggerate, though such things must exist) etc, this place was probably the go to theater in the area. I came because it was cheap. It had the base requirements that a cinema needed: The Movie. Popcorn. Soda. Bathroom. That's it. 5 screens was nice as well. Send the kiddies into the romper room G movie, and watch Bruce Willis when he still had a hairline do something implausible. At that point in time this place wasn't the cheapest option. But it was adequate. When the Big box theaters corporations arrived, they died or adapted. Sadly C19 as well as unnecessary necessity from entitled mommies daddies and their spoiled offspring forced another piece of history down the memory shitter. Way to go people. Truth be told, I'm sort of guilty as well, but it wasn't because of the frivolous luxuries, it was because of Netflix etc.

I honestly don't remember how often I came here back in the day (you know, when I was a kid), but…read morewhen I walked in this past week to see Wreck It Ralph, all the memories came flooding back. It's a small, two screen theater that is exactly how I remember it, down to the smell, even. It a sort of sweet, slightly musty smell that adds so much to the charm of this place. For some reason, as the nostalgia swept over me, I subconsciously felt compelled to get Twizzlers as my movie candy of choice (I believe they were usually accompanied by Reese's Pieces, too). Seats are relatively comfortable, though a little low on the back. I found that this helped me sit up straight during the movie, it would've been an epic slouch to be a comfortable one. Picture quality of the movie was great, volume/sound quality was great, as well. Nowadays, they're showing first run movies, so there's no need to head to Madison to see a movie on opening weekend if you're a movie nerd like me. On the down side, cash/checks only... but the Kwik Trip is right around the corner with a no fee ATM (just in case)! Also, only one screening of each movie on weekdays, two on weekends. Here's the real bummer: They recently found out that all movie releases starting next summer-ish are going to be in digital format only. Digital projectors are expensive. This theater may end up closing for good, unless they can raise the money to buy new projectors. I really hope that they will be able to accomplish their fundraising goal... Richland Center would be losing a cherished (to me, anyway) landmark if they cannot. Save the theaters (the drive in is at risk, too... the place where my cousin's now husband proposed) in Richland Center!
