Matthew Dockery and his company have caused us a lot of heartache. Paid him in full for our wedding video, still don't have it. He has lied numerous times to us and is in breach of contract. We had a lawyer involved and he agreed to a settlement that he backed out of. We just want our video and this guy just won't give it to us even though we paid for it. We're moving towards more aggressive legal action but unfortunately this whole situation has just been a nightmare. Why someone would hold wedding footage hostage is beyond me. Stay far away from this company. Something is clearly wrong with him and I'd hate for any other customers to go through what we are right now. I wish I could give him zero stars because he deserves it. Sad situation. read more

We got married February 24, 2018, paid in full up front. It is now almost 2 years later and we STILL don't have our wedding video. When I do get a response, it's that he's busy and it will get done....... Update- same day as this review we messaged him on Facebook on our way to the police station and then courthouse. UPDATE: It has now been nine months and still no refund (and of course no video) from Matt Dockery. The Florida Attorney General's office tried a mediation approach on my behalf, which he ignored. They closed the mediation, but not the case overall. I'm not privy to how they are proceeding against Docklight, so we all get to be surprised together. That's out of my hands now. In the meantime, I have filed a police report. After reading my report and looking over the documentation I provided, they chose to categorize Dockery's actions as 2nd degree theft, a felony. Law enforcement and the state AG may punish him in due time, but I will never get my thousands of dollars back. Dockery has no apparent assets, so suing him is pointless. In talking to his other clients, our experiences have a similar pattern and outcome. I read the other reviews here and on google reviews of people who never received their videos or a refund after he had their money. It's heartbreaking that a year later he is still getting away with it. I am stunned that people are still hiring him. But not at all surprised when another 1-star review shows up a few months later. read more

We hired Matt with Docklight Productions to film our wedding in Key West. He was extremely commutative and very willing to collaborate in order to give us the best experience possible. He's easily the most laid back videographer and his gentle and fun loving nature really shows itself in every interaction he has. He was incredible at making us feel comfortable and very easy going with our scheduling! He was minimally invasive of the ceremony and we didn't even realize he was there. The video: absolutely incredible! The first time we watched our video, my first thought was that it looked like a movie! Obviously we had seen his work prior, and everything is shot at professional level, but we were still blown away. I've watched our video every day since we've received it and it's truly a priceless memory of one of the best days of my life. We will forever cherish the memories recorded by Docklight and look forward to working with them again! read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. MATTHEW ISN'T DOING WEDDING GIGS ANYMORE! Something has gone terribly wrong with Matthew in the past year. We had hired him to film our wedding on 4/6/2019 with glowing reviews back in early 2018. Less than 48 hours prior to the event, Matthew emailed us at 11:30pm to say that he was in Texas (didn't mention why) and would be unable to attend the event. He tried to subcontract out the videography to another videographer that we had never met or had an opportunity to vet the work of. With hours to go until our ceremony, and the recent reviews about Matthew taking a year or more to edit the videos and provide footage, this left us extremely uneasy, so we declined to have his subcontractor help. We hired Christian J Fernandez (did an excellent job, btw. Highly recommended!) Later, we found out from Instagram that Matthew had been in Texas for days working on another project and didn't bother to inform us until right before the event. We told him this was unacceptable and wanted a full refund. He has refused and we are not disputing this with PayPal. Matthew has lost all credibility. It's obvious he got a little ego from his mild success with weddings and now has blown off his wedding jobs for other gigs. Just check the reviews. He's dishonest and a terrible business owner. We talked to lots of other vendors in Key West and none had anything good to say about him anymore. Terrible. read more

It's so upsetting to witness the heartbreak of my friend deal with the fact that she doesn't know if she will EVER receive video footage from her beautiful, once in a lifetime wedding. If we had to choose a videographer over again for our wedding I WOULD NOT sign a contract with Matt & Docklight Productions. SERVICE is extremely slow. Matt did not honor the 90 day time frame given. It took 120 days to receive our wedding video (9 minutes in total). At this time we are still waiting on our raw footage so that we can make a wedding trailer. QUALITY is sub par. The finished video compared to the quality posted on their Vimeo account was less than stellar. COMMUNICATION is very poor. Matt does not answer phone calls or VM nor does he reply to text messages. To this date Matt has not responded to our wedding planner as well. INTEGRITY; none. Matt agreed via phone conversation to film our wedding and would send over the contract to be paid in full. The very next day we received an email stating he was offered a higher wedding package for another wedding the next day and will take them instead. Although he did not attend our wedding his staff was very pleasant; however need to be aware of photographers to avoid continuing to be in wedding photos. Save yourself the headache and hassle and use another videographer for your wedding or function. read more

In my experience, Matthew Dockery from Docklight Productions is great at procrastinating, ignoring your emails, and making excuses. He did not deliver on what he promised to us. Avoid doing business with him at all costs! We hired Matthew to film an event for us in the Keys on July 2018. According to the contract we agreed to on Paypal, Matthew was to provide a 10-minute recap video as well as the raw footage within 90 days after the event. In Nov 2018, we heard back from Matthew with a carefully written excuse email about all the "speed bumps" he's had with his business lately. He did include a link to an incomplete and rough draft video of what had been done so far. He admitted there were a bunch of mistakes he needed to clean up but gave no indication of when it would be done. In the video, the words didn't sync with our lips as we spoke, some parts are tinted lime green, and so on. We suggested a couple more revisions and assumed he'd finish soon. It's now been almost three months since we last heard from him. We've sent several emails asking when we could expect the finished product. No response. Seems to us that he has no interest in living up to what he promised. He took $1,800 dollars from us and hasn't given us a finished product. Lack of communication has only made things worse. And we aren't the only ones. Read through the reviews. We've spoken to several other people who have waited for months and even a year or two and not gotten anything from Matthew. There's people who got the exact same copied and pasted excuse email we got. There's people who have gotten blocked on social media for asking when they will get their video. It's all a game. Meanwhile his Instagram is full of him working on other projects. At this point, all we want is the last few edits he promised as well as the raw footage which we agreed to. If he actually reaches out with an update or finishes the damn project, I'll update this review. Until then I would recommend everyone to AVOID DOCKLIGHT AT ALL COSTS! 1/19/19 - still no finished product. Terrible way to run a business. No excuse whatsoever. To say working with Mathew has been frustrating, disappointing, and a terrible experience would be an understatement. My husband and I were married on May 12, 2018 in Islamorada and still have not received our wedding video. (177 days and counting) Per the contract, it was due on August 12, 2018 (85 days late and counting) We have left countless voicemails, sent text messages, and many emails to no avail. Matthew has not called us back on the phone even one time. We received an email from Matthew on May 15, 2018 stating "We'll have the rest of the full film edited before Aug 12th at the latest per contract, but hopefully much sooner." That unfortunately never happened. September 13- we finally received this. "Hi Olivia, Sorry for the late reply here. It's been absolutely non-stop here at DockLight these past couple of months. So, I hesitate to give you an exact delivery date on your film because I really just do not know right now. What I can tell you however is that I've since hired some help to take some of the workload off my shoulders and give me some more time to deal with things like editing and staying on top of all the thousands of emails we get on a weekly basis." I would NOT work with Matthew again or hire him as my wedding videographer. He has been extremely unprofessional, rude, and quite frankly just doesn't care. If we ever do receive our video- I will update this review. Also- please note we have paid in full and have not received our raw footage or our edited video. Your wedding day is one of the most important and special days of your life- and unfortunately we made the poor decision to work with Matthew Dockery and are now extremely saddened as we have no video to watch and are not able to relive a day we will never be able to get back. read more

I wish we could give 0 stars... We paid in full for raw footage AND a 4 - 5 min highlight reel. While we have received the raw footage (for which I am extremely grateful) it has been over 3 months past the 120 day deadline and we still do not have the wedding video. Matt has gone completely radio silent and has not replied to any of my emails. Last email we received from him was on 4/18. I have filed a complaint with the Florida Attorney General but have yet to hear back. read more

He was punctual, precise, personable, and full of creative ideas with a fabulous eye for detail. 0/5 stars if I could. Docklight Productions almost ruined our wedding. Docklight was the first vendor we hired (after booking our venue). As we were having a destination wedding, we wanted video to share with all of our friends and family who wouldn't be able to make it. I chose Docklight because I wanted Matthew's style of videography. In the months leading up to the wedding, I noticed that Matthews reviews had turned from five stars to one star with people commenting on the length of time that it took for them to receive their video footage. Matthew promises 90 days in his "contract" and there were people who had still not received their footage 9 months to a year later. They also complained of his responsiveness to emails, which was confirmed when I sent an email 2 weeks prior to the wedding and still hadn't received a response 8 days later. Then 2 nights before our ceremony at 11:47pm, I received an email stating that due to an "unexpected trip", he would not be able to make it but that he had secured an alternative videographer for us (an independent videographer that Matthew subcontracted with). He stated this was in "our favor" as this other videographer was better than he was and "very nice". He then stated that he would still edit our video so it was "OK". At this point I decided to do a little more looking at his online presence. On his Instagram he was posting pictures and stories of himself shooting video in Texas two days prior to when he informed me that he "unexpectedly" could not make it to our wedding. This was a planned trip that he chose to not disclose until the 11th hour. He should have notified us immediately, the moment he planned on not being there, as we would have secured another videographer who we trusted and who would have showed up. Instead he made a calculated move to not tell us until the final hour when we may have had no choice but to go with his subcontracted videographer. Fortunately, my amazing wedding planner Eric from A Modern Romance found me another videographer who was available and agreed to shoot for us last minute. We attempted to obtain a refund from Matthew for breach of contract but he refused this and stopped returning our emails. Avoid this videographer at all costs.
